He listened to Thelis and La'Ta'nm as theyspoke to each other on the topic of the ship and inviting him down there to perhaps open the ship, Lat theorizing that his immediate presense would be a factor. Thelis refuting that theory telling him with the Neural link, distance would not be a problem. He agreed
He looked directly at Buford when he spoke about being careful with his emotions, it could trigger something on the ship "Perhaps, Lieutenant. That is why Thelis and the Engineer are attempting to study this ship to see how it operates. As far as me being near the ship, Lt Thelis just commented that distance would not be a problem. We've already established that we seem to be linked biologically and neurally. I seem to feel what it feels and it feels as I feel." He paused a moment to think "Which could prove to be a nuisance as time passes." He actually spiraled his tail at that, in some aspects, that could prove amusing

Buford Listens to the Captain, and his tail wags at that last part, looking at the Captain "Iz could have explained it better, the ship may have a safety protocol y'all may need to be close or even touch it to open the ship up" He says
He tilts his head, "With y'alls permission Iz liked to try something?" he says his com still open

Frown,"Look all i am saying is that the Captain inspite on being linked neuralogicaly may need to be close to open it to ensure it is him and no one else.
We can safety protocal this thing to death and, get no where or you can send for the Captain let us get in there ,get the Doctor to keep an eye on the Captain while we work on this thing. Sometimes you can think too much and, act to little."

His tail unspiraled and drooped a bit, as well as his whiskers as he heard Bufords's comments, he again saying or implying that he needs to be in close proximity to the ship before it would react and open up. He was about to comment to Buford when he heard The Chief Engineer giving a tongue lashing and an earful to Thelis
I am surrouned by fuzz brains , he thought briefly as he thumped his tail again, a little harder this time and he growled to where all three officers could hear him through Buford's comm. Buford could hear him without the comm
"Chief Engineer, you are very correct in that last comment 'Thinking too much with too little action', but the reverse is also true 'To much action with too little thinking' Lt Thelis is suggesting we proceed carefully and cautiosly since we are all dealing with the unknown. Since I am linked biologically and physically to this ship neurologically, I am highly doubtful my nearness will affect it. As for the doctor, I would welcome her assistance but she seemed to be dealing with other things at this time"
It was then he realized that Buford asked if he could try something "It is fine with me" he said, then waited for the other two to respond

At Captain Two Dawns' latest feelings of frustions, as soon as he thumped his tail, the ship would activate it's shields, thinking the impact as some sort of attack
Assuming that Thelis and La'ta'nm are standing close, they would be knocked back by the shield, giving them both a mild shock. At the same time, a soft glow would appears around the Captain
A few moments would pass before the shields would deactivate. Captain Two Dawns informing the ship, through the neural link, that there is no attack. The soft glow around the captain would also disappear

Thelis opened his mouth to reply when the thump on the comm made him jump and close it again.
"My apologies , Captain. I'd lost sight of the situation. Do you wish.."
His thoughts were stopped as the engineer was knocked back and away from the ship.

Buford was about to grab Grabfoot, when he got mad and hit his tail on the floor, then he glowed Buford went on the defenses his teeth showed and he growled, then the glow stopped and came out of defense mode "The Captain got mad and slammed his tail down, and started glowing! did anything happen down their?" he asks as he looks at the Captain,

"The ship activated and La'ta'nM was knocked back. I assume that the ship's defenses were activated and either shields pushed him away or it's equipped with a deflector that will keep away any object that comes too close."
He scanned the ship, approaching the Ferengi cautiously. "No sign of the shields now or of any residual energy."
He looked over the engineer.There was no obvious sign of injury. "How are you feeling? Never mind." He waved a hand. "It doesn't matter. Either way you need to be checked out by Medical as soon as possible"

He was unaware that he was about to be grabbed when he heard Thelis' apology then just stopped in mid sentence. He started to ask what was wrong but stopped, looking at Buford as he looked like he was going rabid, growling, showing his teeth, going all defensive.
He jumped back instinctively "What are you.." He started to ask then noticed he was glowing. His ears tipped forward, then back, curious and surprised at this phenomena "What is going.." He got out before he received a message from the craft that the craft is under attack, thinking the tail thump as a sort of attack. He informed and convinced his biological extension that there is no attack. The glow disappeared as the shields on the craft went down
He noticed Buford relax, reporting that he glowed for a few moments, asking if anything happened down there in the shuttle bay.Thelis confirmed that the craft's shields activated at the same time he glowed. Interesting, he thought. Was that glow some form of personal shields?
"I would conclude that both options are accurate, Lt. Shields activated cause the craft presumed my tail thump as an attack and pushed away anything that was near, assuming the objects or person were the ones attacking."
He listened as Thelis addressed La'ta'nm, asking how did he feel after being pushed back then suggested seeking medical attention

I expect you would have had to command it specifically to attack and what to attack. Such a sophisticated piece of equipment wouldn't act without your direction."
"Was Lt. Hound able to take readings during the activation? We should confirm that the glow you experienced had no ill effects and if you're able Captain, I think it's time to move these experiments into a more extensive, and preferably controlled, phase."

Got up began brushing himself off maybe a little slow and yeah he hurt so what the pain would show on his face. He was 5 foot zero and, 90 pounds.smaller than most Ferengi even "Will take more than that to hurt me" his tricorder beeped, he first read the small screen before he spoke. "Have been running scans trying to isolate the frequencey.Whatever the captain did gave me just what I ...." passed out

Buford saw Grabfoot when he growled, jumped back instinctively Grabfoot then asked what are you then what's going on
when it all settled down, he looked at his medical tricorder as he heard Thelis "Thars nuten wrong, the implanted caused no harm to the Captain, his Blood pressure is a bit elevated but that be normal"
He then looks at the Captain "Sorry Sir, when y'all started glowing Iz just instinctively took up a defense stance" he reports

"Whatever the captain did just gave me what I..." At the pause, Thelis looked up from his own readings, just as La'ta'nM collapsed to the deck. "Of all the pertinacious!.." He tapped his comm again.
"Lt Thelis to Sickbay, Medical emergency in Cargo Bay 1."
"Captain, Engineer La'ta'nM is unconscious. A delayed effect of his encounter with the ship's shields, I expect."
He knelt next to the Ferengi and checked his breathing and pulse. Both were steady.

He nodded thoughtfully, ears quivering to show his thoughtful expression "I know that the craft and I are connected biologically, but I knew not the extent of the connection. As time passes I am learning that fact. I do hope that your correct that it wouldn't attack without my instructions."

He looked at Buford, who suddenly had a tricorder in his paws, scanning after he stopped glowing "I believe he has, I'll let him tell you his results. As far as these "experiments" I presume that we were already conducting them, just taking baby steps, or rather being careful in what we are doing but I do agree with you. Do you suggest that I come down there?" He already knew Lat and Buford wanted him down there to prove a theory
He heard La'ta'nm start to say something but he cut off in mid sentence. Buford then reported his tricorder findings, including his raised blood pressure but specified it was normal. He then apologized for his defensive actions "It is understandable, Mr. Hound. It is a normal reaction to the thought of one being under attack."
Buford's communicator went quiet for a moment before Thelis returned, reported that Lat fell unconscious from the shock the craft gave him "He should be alright, Mr. Thelis. Most likely just a surprised reaction to being shocked. Let me know when he regains consciousness."

"Do you suggest that I come down there?" The Captain asked.
"At this juncture, yes, Sir. Not because I believe that the proximity will make any difference but because it will allow us to directly observe cause and effect and hopefully, better control the outcome." Thelis replied.
