She saw the brow raised then shrugged a well-toned shoulder his direction. She smiled a little at him to let him know there are no hard feelings
"Perhaps you are. I know that's why I am here. Perhaps we are partners. It's a big world for just one man to protect"

A nod of his head was given " Yes it is."

Sim update The sites of the 3 possible settlements were: 1) Northern coast line -- 30 degrees north of the equator. has abundant plant, animal and marine life. Rainfall in a 30 day period ranges between 2.50 and 6.34. 2) southern coastline -- 20 degrees south of the equator has the same abundant plant, animal and marine life. Ave temps between 74 and 82 degrees F. For 2 months out of the year there is no rainfall. However the rest of the year its around 2.50 and 4.3 3) Inland large fresh water lake. ave temp range between 30 to 86 degrees. this area experiences a full range of seasons. abundant plant, animal life and marine life limited to fresh water. Rainfall between 2.50 and 6 inches. Both the north and southern coastlines have a fresh water available.

He rereads over the sites "Site one is the best"
He says looking at everyone "with one you'll have year round harvests off food, plus fresh and salt water marine Life" he says
"Southern coast were limited more on what we can grow" he looks around
"Three is another good site, year round harvest but only fresh water marine life, I like number one but I always did like an Ocean view"

He would have to think on it. " Well I have to say number three. number one will be good as well but the bad thing is storms and big waves that can hit us if there are any."

After studying the padd again, he'd look up "I say site one. It's near water. We can irrigate the crops and we can easily fish and it wouldn't be too hot or too cold"
He then looked to Hunter "Levees and dam's can be built to keep the water at bay or build the building a few feet off the ground"

It was Ann who spoke this time. "I know you are excited especially about the choices on the site for the colony. Now before a vote can be taken and then acted on, the entire list of colonist must vote on this issue. If not then Artifacts will say where the site for the first settlement will be."
"The consoles will be used for this purpose. Lets remember this is a joint effort of all colonist. And not just Artifacts people. But it will help if you tell the others what is being discussed."
"Troy you raised a question concerning how many planetary vechiles will be on surface. I think that is best answered by your Governor.

For Chase it was an easy answer to the question of the vote but remained silent on the subject. He listened as it turned to the question of vehicles.
Inwardly, he wondered about the communications department and what was already done. His department would be among the most costly once they were there. Which probably explained why he was so quiet. In good time it would turn to his area.

She looked over the sites given for possible first settlements. When she looked at it, she did so in terms of variety of possible food stores. She had to give a thumbs up to Artifacts for choosing 3 good sites. She could differently work with one of those sites. She would remain silent for now while she worked out various questions she had.
And then reminded herself to weed out certain ones that was really even a possibility. But she was becoming more excited and anxious as the weight of her decisions like a ton began to bare down on her.

"Troy you raised a question concerning how many planetary vechiles will be on surface. I think that is best answered by your Governor.
"Thank you, Ann" Ravin responded. "I can answer the questions concerning transport and vehicles, However I know that you have things you need to cover, and I had planned to have a little meeting of my own to go over these very details." "Unless you'd like me to field that question It will be covered and I don't want to take up your valuable meeting time." He smiled at her. Wanting to do the courteous thing.

He looked between Ann and Ravin, nodding as Ravin said he would answer about the fleet of shuttles a bit later after the meeting
"I can wait" he simply said

She listen to them talk as she drank her coffee. She knew that she was in charge of air support, but for now it was just her and she did not even know if she had equipment to carry out what she need to.

Jeff would take in all that was being said. He did not have much more to say.. He liked area three.. But he already said that. He was not going to push it any further.
He would close his eyes and take in the words from all the others. Seeing what they still had to do to get things ready.

To be honest, just like so many lectures in school, this whole meeting bored Hitomi to tears. Yes, she had the Padd set on record, and yes this meeting would help decide and shape her future both immediate and long term, but there was little in anything here for her to worry about.
All three areas had freshwater, all three were to be on some sort of body of water, one had a semi-arid time of the year that could be a nice change, but honestly, they all seemed very alike. Colonization had reached the point where all the risks could be pinpointed out ahead of time, there was no more "we will set up camp where we happen to land" like the original Earth Colonies. Hitomi would take it as it came, it did not overly bother her in the bit.
Being the founding member of a colony was beginning to sound less and less romantic to the young Doctor.

Ann continued, "As stated Artifacts has certain conditions or stipulations for colonization. As employees we expect you to set the example so your participation is required. All of the colonist were informed of this, just as you were, agreed to and it was part of your signed contract." "However, for clarity I'll review this with you. Artifacts has a reputation for ecology friendliness. And this will be maintained. Thales is a pristine world, whatever negative effects the original inhabitants caused is no longer present. We want Thales to cared for, watched over, protected, since this your home it should be your goal as well." "In oder to be a colonist each of you have a need or desire to experience more then the usual or norm. At Artifacts we understand this. We gave you 3 of the best sites available, and will be supportive, one orbiting satellite for communications and to monitor any possible problems coming you way from space. We also gave you enough supplies to last for 6 months for when the next scheduled supplies are due." "There will be enough to do for your spirit of adventure, need to succeed, your drive to discover to last a life time. To emphasis this point, those 3 sites have not even had dangerous predators, plant life, etc removed. You will not be given any maps, or told what to expect." "Each site has it own inherent problems and concerns. Which you and the other colonist will need to discover. Artifacts will have little to no involvement in the daily running of the colony thats why you have a governor." "Now on to the question of discovered artifacts. Any employee who discovers any must surrender them to the company. If its value is high or its a rare find you will receive a bonus. We have a reasonable schedule for beginning a search for these, based on a realistic timetable. I personally would discourage anyone from attempting to locate them any sooner then that timetable allows. Simply because this distracts from the necessary settlement building that will be needed."
She paused to allow this to sink in and take hold. They probably expected Artifacts to be like so many other companies or even SF on the rare occasion that they build a settlement. However, this company knew the best colonist were the ones who have a real stake in the survival and growth of the settlement, as opposed to a planned community for lack of a better defination.
