Sargent, I would not want to eat a meal like that. He pointed at his plate. You do realize eating is not a sport. If the universe has a such thing as a 'cosmic balancing scale', someone is going hungry as we speak. He chuckled.

He laughs "Lassiter if this was a sport I think they band me" he takes a bite "Please feel free to call me David or Greathouse"
"Someone going hungry in this day and age, bring here I'll give them food" he smiles
he looks at the CNS "We seem to hogging the conversation jump in at any time Ma'am"

Finishing his meal he thought it was time for him to get back to engineering and check in with the chief. He got up and put his plate back in the replicator and then left the mess hall.

"While the Chief sounds like an extremely formidable person whom I would not like to cross," She grinned at Lassiter then turned to the sergeant. "And indeed there are people who are hungry even in this day and age because there is always change and sometimes that change is violent and leaves people without homes or food, but what crossed my mind first was something a bit more mundane. Assuming that the Sergeant here is a relatively average example of humanity, and reacts to stresses the way most of us do, digesting large meals such as that puts an enormous strain on the heart." Her smile offset the slight scolding tone of her voice. "And don't even think about giving me the line about it providing a good cardio workout. I've heard that one already. So it's just a good idea not to put yourself under that kind of pressure, especially when you might also anticipate being in a combat situation."

Looks like you jumped into the job with both feet, Xena. Marc said smiling as he watched her give the Sargent a very maternal lecture on his eating habits. Remind me to stay out of your 'cross hairs'.

He laughs and waves his hand in front of her eyes "I'm 6' 11" 350 lbs of solid muscle I have high metabolism this meal will last me till morning" a good Cardiod workout "I do that but its just to keep in shape" He sees her smile to offset the slight scolding tone of her voice "Theirs other ways to work it off as well" he smiles then looks at his food then back to her "Maybe I can use to adjust my portions"

He wlked into the mess hall and seen a crowd at the table. Well, not neccessarily a crowd but he recognized one of the people to be Greathouse
Also at the table he was crowding was a woman he never seen. perhaps a new officer? Of course, when there was a woman was involved, Greathouse would be there
He shook his head in mild amusement before making his way to the replicator

After finishing what Aleg thought has to be THE most boring shift ever he headed for the mess hall. Entering he decided to just get a drink instead of eating. At the replicator he got a glass of water and took a seat wile he thought. Seriously. Need a war or something to happen. Just something to make security more interesting on board.

With a napkin, Nemi wiped off a bit of the honey cake she'd been eating. "There's no doubt you keep in shape sergeant but to borrow a quote from Rudyard Kipling, a full meal makes a slow mongoose and I'm guessing when you strike, you want it to be quick and deadly."

He came over from the replicator, with a cup of coffee, hearing the last bit of exchange between the Sarge and the new officer "Yes, he wants to strike like the cheetah, swift and deadly" He said with an amused smile. He thought the Sarge was more like a charging bull
He gave a slight nod to the woman "Ma'am. Lance Corporal Thomas Jackson, at your service"

I'm outnumbered now. He smiles at Nemi. Marines are the most hardheaded breed of soldiers in the military. We tend to think we are 'ten foot tall, and bullet proof' as the song goes. I'm sure Greathouse cultivated that appetite in 'stuffing matches' with his brothers. Greathouse lives by the unwritten Marine credo: Fight hard, never quit, and if you do die; do it in and orderly military fashion. He smiles and finishes his water.

"Thank you corporal. I don't have any need of your services at the moment." She smiled. "But you're welcome to join in if you'd like. I'm 1Lt Nemesis Xenakis, the new Counselor."

He watches the exchange and decides that the proper admonishes were made and finishes his soup. Its nice to meet you Jackson. He says with a hint in his voice that suggested that he knew the gesture was not entirely welcomed. But duty calls. My new Exec needs to go through orientation. Counselor, I'll be done in an hour. If you want the full tour I can make myself available
