I agree with you it does seem that many in the Federation view the effects of our conflicts only one sided. Theirs. That there is less of an impact on us as a people. That somehow our children did not miss the loss of parents or grandparents, bond-mates did not cry themselves to sleep. Sons and daughters never returning was not a heart rendering, cousins were not important.
Do not ask yourself why they can not understand this, instead wonder why they feel that others can not feel the loss. I know without thinking that they have suffered as much as we have. In war, I choose not to consider that, if I did it would diminish my effectives as a Romulan officer, but in peace as now it is different.
I have a personal thought on this. Romulans and Terrans are very similar in many ways. It is that similarity that the vast chasm occurred. Its as if the two look and see a soul brother and is confused at the acts of hostiles. So much that one has attempted to demonize the other and lessen their feelings to love and be hurt.
That is why I am so hopeful concerning this alliance. That we will both learn what is needed about the other. It would he worth these months of loneness before the arrival of other Romulan officers.

He listened as she explained her thoughts about the distrust.he imagined standing in front of a mirror looking at himself seeing only what he wanted too and ignoring anything he did not like or understand.::sipping his water::I understand Riov.I too hope this Alliance will open doors and show both that we are at peace and I like you accept the loneliness of it it with hope it brings fruition to this Alliance.I have taken to much of your time Riov ,my apologies.

Yhea, do not be concerned about wasting my time. If there was a matter I needed to attend to I would. I hope that what we discussed has helped you to understand them better.
But like you at times I feel such frustration. But temper that will understanding and it will be easier. Then she turned to the VP and looked out smiling.
See the stars Yhea and know we are back home for awhile. It is good to be here. We will need to help them to understand there is no need for concern. That we are people who will keep our word once given.

As do I. I have missed playing it.
We are getting a new Rihannsu saehne (Romulan officer). It's good to have a few of our people on the ship. What better way for the lloann'mhrahel (Federation) to learn about us?
You are dismissed Yhea and looking forward to our game.

::Looks at the officer before bowing ever so slightly:: Jolan Tru I am Erein Rh'vourek from the house of Mirok, and likewise it is nice to see my own kind. I was getting tired of everyone shortening my name to "Rek" as terrans seem to be in the habit of shortening everything. ::grins wolfishly::. They need to take the time to enjoy what life has to offer.

She reaches for her water and takes a sip. Hearing the chimes she calls out Enter.
And the new Romulan officer enters. She looks at him.

He will nod to the new officer. He was going to what to talk to the Riov.Mak will close his eyes. Leaning on the wall as he whated for his own turn. A nod of his head was given to Yhea as he was leaving " Hello Yhea." But that was about all he said.

This is a joint post between the CO and her new officer.
Returns his salute. Aefvadh (welcome) Erien (ensign) Rh'vourek This is the Federation ship USS New York NCC 71868. It is a galaxy class. I trust you are familiar with it. Then she motions for him to sit down. Your padd Erein. Before taking the offered seat he will hand over the Datapadd. I am very familiar with that class Rekkhai'. I just have never actually been in one Grinning he sits back in the chair.
Looking at him. Nor was I, until I entered the officer exchange program. This is a historic time for both our people and the Federation. It is a time to reflect and to show them what and who we are as a people. Therefore, each of us was chosen for very specific reasons. This alliance is important for various reasons. You must keep that in mind. She takes a sip of her water and motions to the pitcher of water with an extra glass for him.
Shakes his head at the offer of water. Dhat Rekkhai (no ma'am) , I am good, thankyou. Ie Rekkhai (yes ma'am) He bows his head slightly, I will of course help the New York in any way I can. I will also do all I can to make sure the exchange program thrives, to bring honor not only to my House, but too the Romulan people in general. He grins, This Terran language flows off the mouth funny.
She nods at his comment. It will indeed seem that way until you have spoken it for awhile. There are crew members on this ship who harbor feelings of animosity to us. You will ignore this, should you become angered go to your quarters or gym to vent. Remember you are Rihan and will act accordingly. ::looks at him sternly::
Ie Rekkhai. Although I do not trust the intentions of many Terran's, I will do nothing to instigate, or add fire to any conflicts. I have a thick hide Rekkhai, it will take more then mere words or looks to provoke any kind of reaction from me. He nods to emphasize this.
She looks at him and slightly nods. Do you see what I mean, each of us chosen for very specific reasons. The one trait we all possess is that one. The ability to know when and how to react to such a situation. I will tell you, for the most part, all but a few, have deep set hostilities and that is understandable. Our last war was long and difficult. But now with our main focus on rebuilding after the Reman uprising and then their defeat. It is time to learn in general and gain new friends.
He nods and bows slightly. Well said Rekkhai, and at the same time bring more honor to the Romulan race as a whole.
Have you any questions concerning this endeavor?
Dhat Rekkhai. I have been well briefed and am totally ready to undertake this new adventure. You could not have picked a finer officer for the duties that lie ahead. I will not bring dishonor or shame to you or the New York. I will always remain loyal to you and the crew. The House of Mirok brings a long line of capable officers, and I will indeed be one ::Bows::
She smiles slightly. Of that I am sure. Now tell me of yourself. She sits back and steeples her finger tips together watching him.
I come from a strong house, that, how should I say, didn't quite see eye to eye with me taking up this exchange program. I have 3 siblings all of whom are strong supporters of the Romulan Empire as it is. I proved myself at a young age, and was very young when I entered the Romulan War College. I graduated in the top 10 percent, but I feel my actions will prove more then any score on an exam will Rekkhai. She nods in response. What do hope to gain from experiencing this historic journey? The formation of a new alliance.
He grins:: A better understanding of myself, and of the Terran race in general. The Rihannsu people need pioneers, and we are them Rekkhai.
We have always been that, pioneers. Even when we rested after arriving here, we had an entire world to explore and conquer. Did we not, travel centuries to escape the Vulcan suppression of emotions they would have enforced upon us. We saved Vulcan from the Orien pirates and what did we get in return? A stern rebuke from Sarak for using our passion to remain a free of the invaders, instead of the logic which was not working and enslaving us to the invaders. We are truly pioneers and have been for centuries. He grins at her. As you wish Rekkhai'. He bows slightly.
As I wish, you deny our history? Or are you of the mind set that desires a total reconciliation with Vulcan and their not admitting to this? When it was thought we would never survive the journey here. And indeed, we only had a few thousand left. She glances out the VP and looks the stars feeling the warmth of home.::
He grins sensing her passion for history. Oh history is great, as I know, you are Rekkhai. We are indeed a race of pioneers. He bows slightly But who besides us would ever undertake this mission at hand. The Rihannsu, as a whole working with the very race it has mistrusted, even today many still do . So the Terran Word "Pioneer" does not even begin to explain what you are doing Rekkhai. He sits there with a grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye, obviously it is a passionate subject with him::
Do you play lhi? Yhea the officer who left before you entered does. We may begin to play it soon.
He grins. Dhat (no) Rekkhai I am afraid I do not. I have obviosly taken up a lot of your time today. If you will permit me I will leave, and seek out my crew quarters. Then I will report to sick bay and get my complete medical, so I will be cleared for duty.
One more thing. We have another Romulan officer she is in a medical facility. I may have you cover her post I am not sure yet. dismissed and welcome to the New York. He stands and goes to attention. That will be ideal Rekkhai. I live now to serve you He bows, then snaps a salute. Jolan'tru. He will then about face and quietly exit her office::
She watched as he left and then went over his service record in detail. It was important to know her officers as well as she could.
