Begin Personal log................... Star Date 62760.92
I am very pleased with this crew. I could not have asked for a better one even if they were all Rihannsu.(Romulans) The ship performs well and we are now on route to the testing facility. I will enjoy seeing what this crew is capable of and the ship.
I am concerned for Ensign Montag. I hope she will recover soon. I need to decide if a return to the station is in order to ensure proper care for her. I will be visiting sickbay and checking on her and the prognosis myself. From the small amount of information I have it appears this is linked to her Orien heritage.
On a happier note we now have three new crew members. A fighter pilot, who I think, understands not every mission will require his expertise. But who I none the less will expect him to carry on with various duties.
The second is a half distant cousin. A Vulcan/Human hybrid. The position of helm will now be filled with a more reliable crew person.
The third person is a human who has not requested any specific post. The Elements have been good to me. With him I now have a science officer. Thus, allowing me to watch the crew closely to see who among my senior crew members would be the best as my XO.
If I cannot find one I will then ask for suggestions from FLt Adm Harstings, and General Weslynes who in the United Forces would be a good choice. I do not believe it is wise to go outside this group unless there is no other choice.

:::Enters room::: Hello Captain. I am Cadet Lee Singleton. I had the pleasure of meeting you after the Alliance court martial. I am here today to explain my disappearance on Monday. I believe I was abducted by a Q entity, taken to another reality, and was forced to sit at an ancient computer where I was forced to repeatedly try to log onto something called the Internet. I was detained in this form until just now when I was returned and came into your ready room to make you aware of the situation. I really want to be an active member of your crew ma'am and I'd like for you to overlook my sudden absence this time. I am hoping that this entity will not continuously follow me but I must admit that this phenomena has occurred before to me. It is not something that I look forward to ma'am. That reality is torture. All the waiting to sign on, then finally a signal that disconnects so quickly, and then more trying to log on. Gruesome. Well I will appreciate your discretion in this matter, ma'am. Good day. :::Exits room::

As she watched him leave she shook her head. They were still adjustments for her to make. And she would find a way to integrate this.
She immediately sent out a transmission to llairhi Terrhi lLhoell. She was as usual her old self. They joked about the summer he was visiting his cousin. And then she told him of the situation with Ensign Montag.
::he nodded:: Eviess, I shall speak with someone I know an excellent Orien maenek (doctor). I will tell him I need an answer yesterday. ::sly smile:: He ::short laugh as he waves his hand:: Eviess I shall have an answer for you soon. Ejuil is a lucky man. Does he know that. Jolan'tru Eviess.
The screen went dark and she smiled. Shook her head and went to shower before dinner.

As she waited for the transmission from llairhi Terrhi lLhoell. Computer check log for incoming transmission from llairhi (ambassador) Terrhi lLhoell.
There are no transmissions from the llairhi. She slapped her desk as she said, "fvadt Areinnye" (da#m (to) hell). There was nothing more she could do until he send her the information. But would it come in time.
She wished Ejuil was here to help her calm her nerves. But that was not to be.

It is a good thing this X-team worked as well as it did. In my opinion this can not replace Marines who's training far exceeds this. Or at least for my people it does. However, I see it as an advantage to have this training for secuity. But it must not be forgetten that the responsiblity for security resides within the ship. Ah, Eviess you are not home. Remember, the ruling passion and move with it.
Ah, I so miss ch'Rihan which would be entering its spring. While spring is so very pleasing to one's sense with it comes the storms. And of course the storm birds, my mother could never understand or see my love for these creatures.
Finally Ilairhi ILhoell sent the cure for the ailment of Ensign Montage. I was very concerned for her. I shall be sending a transmission to see if her husband can be here when she comes out of statis. I agree with the consuler he should be here unless duty to his ship forbids it. It is hard to balance such things.

It was good to speak with my old friend Terrhi, if only for a few minutes. I have began to study the customs among Terrans most of the crew is made up of Terrans.
I have discovered an old program of mine and will have it entered into the computer. It will be good to play, "lhi". More of a challenge against a computer, but it will lack the passion, and heat of the game. Ah,but then nothing is perfect.
She looks up and notices her Csec is in the room.
Forgive me for being so distracted. As to your x-team,I see alot uses for them. It did work better then I expected, and that speaks your abilities.
::she hands him a glass of a Rihann critus drink:: I hope you enjoy this. I realize I may have been difficult in your eyes. Let me explain. I see the makings of a great officer and I want it to develop. Sometimes, it is best accomplished by difficulty.
waits for his response.

As she watched him she wondered if her feelings were correct. Certainly the service record supported her feelings. She would need another week perhaps.
She turned her attention to the program she recently had installed.
Computer begin program Radaik "lhi". As the program began she started to unwind from the tensions of the past week. And of the shake down and testing at Darken Testing Facility.
Many would feel that to pay "lhi" a game involving wit, cunning and nerve against a computer was self defeating. But lacking another Rihan player, a computer would have to do.

She entered her ready room and sat down behind her desk, shaking her head. Her conversation with Lt Heath MeIc was most enlightening. She was not as upset as most would think she would be.
However, certain things keep repeating in her mind. Lt Melc stated, " As a child, I was told bed-time stories about Romulans: If I didn't brush my teeth, the Romulans would get me... and things of that nature."
She now understood more, of why so many within the Federation was distrustful and had a dislike of her and her people. How could they not dislike Romulans or see them as anything but bad. How does one show or teach others how very false that was. :: sighs partly out of frustration, anger, and resignation::
She sits back, resting her elbows on the chair arms, folding her hands in front of her.
Between the misrepresentations of the Vulcans, the things the klingons have said, and the teachings given to their children how does one even begin to dispels this?
And then this. ::soft laugh:: However, your people fought valiantly, and honorably during that war..... saving the lives of many federation people..... That raised some eye-brows, as it went against everything that we, as children, had ever been taught.
By the elements, one can only imagine what they thought. Do they not understand we are a militaristic society. We like the Klingons view matters of honor and behavior on the battlefield in very strict terms. It is better if I turn my mind to other things.

We have lost two crew members this week. Jake Malor who requested a transfer to the Terrasect and was granted the request. We on the New York wish him well. The second officer was Talin Marul, who Star Fleet in its wisdom has seen fit to place him elsewhere. We wish him luck and hope he can return at a later date.
On a happier note, we received a new crew member. A fellow Rihannsu. It does my heart good to see him. Now I will not be the only Rihannsu on the ship or on this base. We is to be our a Versatile Officer, a most demanding post but one that truly prepares one for a later command position. Or perhaps I feel that way since I was for many years a Versatile Officer in the RSE Galie.
This week we had two who earned a promotion. Ensign Vanessa Montag to the rank of Lt. jg. She has earned this and in my opinion it is long overdue. I have chosen my XO, Heath MaIc was also given the rank of Lt Commander to accompany his promotion to exective officer.
May these two live up to the new ranks they hold. I do not understand the ways of Star Fleet in the RSE we have sub ranks which allows one time to adjust and learn the new rank and position with out incurring the usual disciplinary measures if they prove not ready. But this is not my concern. I trust both are ready.
Ending these notes in her personal log she stood and went to the officers dinning room and had breakfast.

This is a jont post between erein Hrienteh and Eviess Radaik.
erein (ensign) Hrienteh gets off the TL, and walks the short distance to the Riovs office. He rings the chime and waits for her voice. He enters the room and scans it to note were things are kept. He smiles at seeing something's from ch'Rihan. Jolan'Tru Riov, I trust things are going well. He waits at attention until she finishes her work.
::she looks up briefly, smiles slightly.:: le, they are Well ::then motions for him to sit down. I will be with you shortly. he finds a chair and quietly waits for her to finish, after a few minutes she looks at him. erein Hrienteh I trust your trip here went well, without incident
It did Riov the trip was uneventful Excellent. You are aware there has been some problems of late with Lyrans and Gorns.
I am Riov, both pirates and thieves
They the Lyrans attacked and destroyed the Alliance which I was in command of at the time. I have been proven to be innocent of any charges of negligence. I was somewhat surprised at how this was done. Another time we can discuss it. Did you find your quarters?
Yes Riov I did. ::she hands him a glass of water and smiles::
::He takes the water and slightly bows at the gift she has offered::
::she watches him take a sip and then picks up her own glass and sips it.::
Riov, If I may have a moment of your time Of course
He hands her a bottle of citrus juice fromCh'Rihan. A gift from my family to you
She accepts it and looks at it. I am truly honored I have not tasted this since leaving ch'Rihan. Your family has been most generous.
Riov it is my family that is honored. I am honored to serve under you
::she nods and very carefully places the bottle on a shelve near her desk.:: I hope you not experience any difficulties in adjusting to the ship and crew. ::she picks up her glass of water and takes a sip looking at him over the rim of her glass::
The Federation is very strange in its ways I must admit. But I will perform my duties with the honor and diligence expected of me.
Then you will serve the Empire will honor. We may not understand the ways of the High Command or our assignments, but it is our duty to obey and follow them. At least now I will have a fellow Rihann to stand with me.
::He bows his head at such a compliment from his Riov:: I have given you my oath Riov. I will never forget that
She nods and then takes a sip of water then ask him, Do you play lhi?
Yes of course Riov it is an excellent game.
Then perhaps soon we can play it. I have grown tired of playing it agaist the computer. There are not the usual twist and turns of the mind, and emotions, just the cold logic. Vulcan's and Computers share that in common, cold logic always
He raises an eyebrow at the mention of Vulcan's and computers in the same breath. I would be honored to play Ihi with you.Imust however get back to my quarters my shift is soon to start
Understood another time. Again thank you and your family for the gift I am truly honored. She nods and then watches him as he walks out.

As she watched him leave her office, she saw in the mnhei'sahe (ruling passion = that which guides and serves as the basis for all behavior), burning brightly within him. He would turn someday into an excellent commander. She could see why the high command would post him here.
She turned in her chair and looked at the bottle of critus drink. Such an expensive gift, she was truly honored. She would share this would him over a game of "Ihi". But for now she admired the look, color and anticipated taste of the beverage.
She thought of Ejiul and how much she missed him. They were both assigned to opposite sides of the nneikha (Romulan empire). He was on a D'deridex (Romulan warship), near the Delta quadrant. It was not a pleasant area to be in. Battles could and did break out periodically. She prayed to the Elements to keep him safe. The next time they were on ch'Rihan, they would bond.
She has loved him for over 15 years and he admitted to loving her for nearly that long. But as with many Rihanha eh't (couple) they would wait for the right time and for both families to agree to the d'anna (marriage). For Romulans, divorce did not exist among the honorable. Divorce signified failure, dishonor, and treason to ways of Romulans. Death would be a far better fate then divorce. Neither she or Ejiul were willing to spend the remainder of a long life in unhappiness.
She brought herself out of her thoughts and directed her attention to the reports in front of her.

Her thoughts of Ejiul earlier had brought her some comfort but also a longing in her heart. But a smile crossed her lips as she thought of him. And wondered what she would do when the time for re-enlistment arrived. Perhaps one more tour would suffice to ensure house standing and honor. Not to mention the cost of establishing a house independent of ones parent.
She looked at the holo image of him and then smiled. She got a com ready to sent to him and then began to get the mission briefing together.
There was so much to accomplish and they would.

Mark was making his way to the Co. Ready Room. Seeing the door he would stop and think. Reaching his hand up he will knock on it. Why in the name of god was he knocking when he could push the button and ring the Bell.? All well he liked doing things his way. He would then lower his hand and would place them both behind him as he would what to see if she came to the door or said enter
