She saw the XO's reaction and she realized she err'ed once again. But how does one explain this?

She looked at the llaiir copai-a ( Fire Falls) and a small smile crossed her lips.
"My family has strong ties to the Element Okhala (the Element fire), I was 6 the first time we held a ," She considered the word to use. "pilgrimage here. We would try to come every year to embrace the power, magnificence, and strength of this symbol. If you know the element that a Rihannsu is drawn to, you understand them better."
"Fire can bring such destruction but in its path it makes way for a renewal. In another time Lt Commander I could call you friend, but for now the rank I hold forbids that."
"Both the Federation and the Empire have much to learn. We have embarked on the growth pains of such friendship, and understanding."
Another day when thier ranks were more accomadating she would look forward to talking to her.

He took a deep breath before answering."Commander I have been on this ship for nearly one year.I have grown to know you and your candidness."
"In fact I even agreed to be your daughters God Father.Now here is were the cultural differences come into play."
"I have read the role of a God Father in your eyes.To me as a Rihannsu she is now already a part of my family.An uncle if you will."
"So you can see Arrenhe's confusion.Our former Executive Officers hated us and we knew it.If they came to my quarters I would have expected my life to be asked for."
"Even you coming to my quarters I would still expect some form of punishment.Either from you or Leih Radiak."
"It is something in our culture that is not done.We are a warrior race as you know.Rank means more to us than to the Federation officers."
"Leih Radiak would never come to our quarters without some very serious reasons."
"It is something this fledgling Alliance is still going through.I believe you would call it teething pains."
"Commander do not think Leih Radaik is unapproachable to us.It is just if we have a problem it is expected for us to come to her."
"If she wants to reveal anything about herself it is done in her office or in private.I hope this is making sense Commander."
He touched Arrenhe's shoulder again hoping he made sense to her as well.She was a friend to him and he was trying to help as best as he could.

"Unless you consider babysitting punnishment....Now tell me more about these falls. When were they first discovered?" ::she looks to Arrhene.::

He smiled slightly at the Commander's joke about baby sitting.He heard her question about when the Falls were discovered.
He noticed the Commander look at Arrenhe.Was she wanting her to answer or was she merely watching how she would react?This was still a mystery he had not solved about other races in the Federation.
A look from his Leih would be an expectation to answer but a look from a Federation officer could be just that a look.

She looked at the commander. "Why would one consider taking care of a child a punishment? Children are very special, unique, and carry forward the race for another generation. It would be my honor to be so entrusted."

When we saw the Element Okhala portrayed so well in nature, we knew we found home. But, each of the Elements are exquisitely portrayed in nature. We knew then, we truly were lead there."

He listened as Arrenhe spoke and realized she had not understood the Commander had meant her remark as a joke.Not wanting another stand off he spoke up.
"Again we have a cultural misunderstanding.Commander on ch'Rihann or any of our worlds children a sacred.We have no orphanages or how do you say it foster care?Every child is adopted by another family member or if none are alive another family gladly takes them in."I know you love you daughter dearly and I am not implying you."
"I do Know such places exist within the Federation and to a Rihannsu that is unthinkable."
He turned to Arrenhe,"I have heard baby sitting used by Federation officers as a way to convey the meaning of watching out for the crew.I believe it is generally used as a joke however."
He hoped Arrenhe and the Commander would understand.

::she laughs:: "It was a joke, but also sometimes I don't want to take Adria to childcare if I'm on duty and would rather have her being taken care of by a friend or family member instead of someone whose just working in the nursery."
"It is true there are some orphanages in the federation,but not many. Most were caused by the dominion war. Most chilren find a loving home with in a month. I've considered adopting after Adria is older."

She stood quietly, looking at the llaiir copai-a ( Fire Falls). As she did, she began to relax and feel peace. In her mind she knew these to be a reproduction, but to the heart, emotions and soul of a Rihannsu it spoke to her of things only another Rihannsu could understand.
She knelt and carefully put a small leaf in the llaiir, smiling. Remembering as a child the first time she did that. Her eneh (father) believing she was too close ran over and scooped her up. Admonishing her for being so careless, how much they cared for her and letting her know the effect on her family if she fall in. She never ventured that close again after seeing the hurt in his eyes at even the thought she would come to harm.
She suddenly come out of her pondering and looked at them.
The smile still visable that developed when she thought of home and family.

He watched Arrenhe as she placed a small leak in the llaiir.Her actions told him she was becoming more at ease and she was connecting with herself and the surroundings.A true Rihannsu he thought.As she got back up her smile spoke volumes to him.
He was indeed glad the Commander had picked this place since it had touched her as he hoped it would.He could not help but think how verelan she looked smiling the Falls at her back adding a light to her presence.

::Zan finds herself outside the holodeck during her wandering of the ship. She had put her arm back in a sling, because it was sore after a day at the amusement park and avoiding hyposprays like the plague. She finds a beach program... somewhere innocuous, like Earth. Then she lays down in the sand under the artificial sunlight and sleeps during her alotted holodeck time..::

Arriving at the holodeck with Johanas, she ponders what he said for a few minutes. She hadn't quite heard his last comment, but she smiles from the parking ticket comment. "You still want a ticket? Fine, I'll write you one right now."
She goes to a nearby computer terminal and writes a ticket for "Reckless driving, horrible parking, and being a good friend" with a penalty of "horseback riding on the holodeck with the one who issued the ticket" and sends it to his inbox with a smirk.
"There, sent!" She waits to enter the holodeck.
