Holodeck one

The following is a joint post between Zandile Rey and Tyler Baccus.


::Zandile walks into the holodeck with Tyler.::

Let's see, what shall we do? ::Looks to her.::

Have you ever been fishing before?

No, but it could be fun.

::He would smile, this was going to be fun.:: It is very peaceful, my father and I used to go fishing when we were younger.

Computer, Begin Program Baccus 12.

~~~The holodeck transformed into a large lake in the mountains, and the two of them were standing on the back of a small boat.~~~

::Zandile looks around:: Where is this?

This is a boat, a method of transportation on water back in the 20th century.

This place is called Lake Vallecito, it is a lake located in the top of a mountain in Colorado, on Earth

It's really pretty. I wish I could have seen more of Earth while I was at the academy.

So how do you fish?

::Picks up the fishing pole and looks at it curiously.::

::He would laugh:: Well, first we gotta find a spot to fish.

::He points to a cove across the lake.:: There would be a good place, would you like to drive the boat?

I only know how to pilot Starships and shuttles.

But I could try piloting this boat.

::He would laugh at the thought of "Piloting" the boat.::

:;Walks over to the controls and spends a moment figuring it out.::

It is quite simple actually, compared to a starship.

::He would sit her down in the driver’s seat and begin explaining it to her.:: First you have to start the boat.

::He pointed to the ignition, the silver key already in it.::

::She turns the key, and the boat starts.::

::He laughed as she jumped a bit when the boat engine turned over the first time.:: What’s wrong, scare ya a bit?

Cool, a combustion engine. This would be fun to take apart and rebuild sometime.

Yes, I have a program that does that too, I believe it is called a "Mechanic Program"

I will let you play with it sometime, but for now, lets get over to that cove. ::He goes and unhooks the boat from the pole.:: Now push forward on this lever right here.

::Places her right hand on the Throttle.::

Ok... ::She pushed forward, and the boat started moving.::

See, its that simple. ::They started moving across the lake to the cove. The water was a bit choppy, but overall not to bad.::

I could get used to this kind of controls, its more hand's on. ::She put her other hand on Tyler's and smiled.::

::He smiled back to her.::

::They would get to the Cove.:: Okay, now pull back on it again to stop us.
::She stopped the boat, and smiled.:: That wasn't so hard. But I have a feeling catching fish will be more difficult.

Nah, not here.

The fish almost literally jump into the boat.

Surely the fish wouldn't be that dumb

Now, turn the boat off and we are done. ::The lake was just choppy enough that he felt like he should throw the Anchor out, so he did.::

::She turned the key and pulled it out of the slot.::

Whatever you do, don’t lose that key.

::She held the key over the side, smiling.:: Maybe being stuck in the middle of the lake together would be fun. ::She puts the key in her pocket::

::He laughs a bit at her dangling the key over the edge, guess she didn’t realize it had a floatie on it.:: Now, Grab your fishing pole and get a worm. ::He grabbed his pole and a worm and waited for her.::

::She also picked up a pole, and a worm. She observed the squirming worm.:: This reminds me of Gagh. Some Klingons made me eat those worms once, it tasted like chicken. Now what do we do?

You put the worm on the hook like so, be careful not to poke yourself with the hook. ::He showed her his method of putting the worm on the hook, there were actually many different ways to hook a worm.::

Ok. ::She put the worm on the hook like he did. She hoped she wasn't hurting the worm too much, before she remembered it was a holographic worm.::

Now you push the button on the reel, ::Points to it.:: And throw the line into the water, release the button at the end of your throw. ::He threw his line into the water.::

::She pushed the button on the reel, like Tyler said, and swung it over the water. The line didn't go anywhere. She looked at the mechanism.:: I think it's stuck.

::He laughed and sat his pole down.:: Did you let go of the button?

::She released the button, and the line dropped straight down, onto the deck.:: Oops.

::He laughs at her in a sweet way.:: It’s alright, now reel your line up and try it again.

::She smiles, then reels it back in. She pushes the button, and this time she releases it as it swings over the water. The hook and worm land with a splash in the water.:: Finally. This is harder than it looks.
Nah, just takes a little practice is all.

Now we wait.

So, what do people do while they're waiting?

Hmmm, Usually just sit and perhaps talk quietly.

~~~Eight minutes would pass by, and then there would be a tug on Zandile's Pole.~~~

Um, I think I caught a fish.

::He snaps to at the site of Zandile's pole bending.:: Yep I think ya did, now reel it in.

~~~The fish although small would put up a very good fight.~~~

::She finally catches the fish, and looks at the hook in its mouth.:: Does this hurt the fish?

::He laughs a bit.:: I'm not sure, it might, but I'm sure it doesn’t hurt as much as cooking it and eating it. ::He would smile knowing that Zandile did like eating fish.::

Well, its dead then. This one is still kicking. Or thrashing, I guess, since it has no legs.

::She carefully gets the squirming fish off the hook.:: Should we put it back?

If you want too. I don't really think I'd like to eat a holographic fish.
I don't think photons are part of a balanced diet. ::The fish wriggles itself out of her hands and flips back in the water.:: Oh! It just released itself.

::He watched the fish splash back into the water.:: The fins didn’t cut you did they?

Fish are sharp?

::She inspects her hands. The hook had scratched her palm a little, but it wasn't a big deal.:: I'm ok. What do we do now? Catch more fish?

Well, ::He looked at the sun setting over the mountain.:: It is fixing to get really chilly here, would you care to go back now?

I guess, but can we watch the sun set?

Sure, But It would be a lot prettier from across the lake, lets watch it sitting on the docks. You still have the key right?

::She digs it out of her pocket::

Alright driver, Take us back then. :: He would smile and sit in the seat with her, holding her hand.::

Ok. ::She fumbles with the key in the slot, and realizes she was putting it in upside down::

I think that’s the wrong way sweetie.

::She smiles, and puts the key in Tyler's free hand.:: Your turn, then, honey.

::He would take the key and insert it the right way.:: No, ma'am, you’re the captain of this rig, now take us back. ::He would smile and kiss her cheek.::

::She kisses him back.:: You're the master fisherman, though.

::She turns the key and the engine roars to life again.::

::He chuckles.:: Who caught the fish?

It could have just as easily chosen your hook, though.

Perhaps. ::He would smile and look out over the lake in front of them.::

::She puts her hand on the throttle and pushes, but the boat is tugging on something.::

::Feels the jerk.:: Whoops, hang on, I need to get the anchor up. ::Goes to the back of the boat and pulls the anchor up.::

::The boat starts moving as soon as the anchor comes up, and Zandile drives it back to the dock.::

::Stands up and moves back to the front, he had been knocked down when he pulled up the anchor and the boat surged forward.::

Are you ok? I didn't realize the boat would do that. ::She stops the boat by the dock::

Yes, I’m fine, lead foot. ::Steps out onto the dock, and takes his shoes off. He would sit on the dock and put his feet in the cold water of the lake, looking up at Zandile.::

::She turns off the boat and jumps lightly onto the dock.:: My feet are not lead, silly. ::She sits next to Tyler, and gazes at the sunset.::

It’s beautiful isn't it?

::He would put his arm around her, and kiss her cheek again.::

Yeah, I wish I had more time to see the sights when I travel. ::She rests her head on his shoulder and sighs happily.::

Perhaps the Captain will give us a little leave, and we can go visits some sights, when we go to Earth in a few weeks.

That sounds like fun.

Can we see the castles in Germany?

::He would nod and then place his head on top of hers.:: Of course we can, we can visit anywhere you want to go.

Ok, and wherever you want to go, too.

I only want to go wherever you wish to go dear. ::Looking to her.::

::Zandile yawns, and sighs again. The sun is almost gone, and darkness spreads over the lake.::

Sleepy dear? ::He shivers a bit at a gust of wind.::

I get sleepy when it gets dark. ::She shivers a little, too. She doesn't like the cold very much, and appreciates Tyler's arm around her shoulder keeping her warm.::

Well, It's getting cold, care to come back to my quarters? I will make you some dinner.

That sounds good. What's on the menu, master chef?

Hmmm... Hamburgers and Orange Juice?

::Snickering.:: Just kidding, what ever you want dear.

Only if you make mine a veggie burger.

Shall we? ::He stands and then holds her hand and helps her to her feet.::

::She gets up, and shivers as another cool gust of wind sweeps over the lake. The sun is gone, and the stars were starting to come out.::

Computer, Save Program and end.

::They would walk out of the holodeck holding hands.::

::Zandile watched the stars get replaced with the hologrid, and walked out with Tyler.::

Erein Tei entered the holodeck."Computer Bridge USS
New York Science Station.The image changed to the Bridge and she walked over too the science station.She went over the controls and scans for hours memorizing every detail of her station.Still angry about her performance she would not allow herself to under-perform again.After going over her station several times using different scenarios she walked out computer end program.

He would see the new officer leave. Making his way into the Holodeck. Typing in a few commands. he did not like talking to computers that much. The area would seem to shimmer to be back in the dark times of Japan. He was in the clothing of that time. He would slowly make his way to a tea house where he would sit down. Getting some tea and would relax. The music of that time playing by a blind man.

Mark did not say a word. Silent and taking in the sounds of all that was going on around him. He has yet to have Anarra come to his room. He had so much old things to show her. Weapons along with old books.

[Lt. Zandile Hanson]

::Zandile entered the holodeck and looked at her personal program list.:: "Computer begin program combat training 2 alpha"

::A rack of weapons materialized, ranging from Japaese katanas to various Klingon weapons. Zandile picked up a katana and unsheathed it, inspecting the blade. "Computer, begin program." ::Several masked fighters appeared, and Zandile started to fight them. She had learned several forms of martial arts when she was a kid, including kenjitsu. After an hour of fighting with all of the weapons available and some hand to hand combat practice, she stopped the program. Then, she left the holodeck, calling over her shoulder.

"Computer save program, and end."

This is a double post between Tyler Baccus and Zandile Rey

::Zandile dragged Tyler into the holodeck, smiling.::
Computer, begin program 2 alpha, slow music.
::Was taken into the holodeck, not really fighting. Perks an eyebrow at the music.:: Why are we listening to music?

::She grinned.:: We're not listening to music, silly, I'm going to teach you to dance.

::A look of surprise and panic came across his face.:: Dance? why dance?

::A dance floor appeared, along with a small band, with a piano, trumpet, trombone, and saxophone player.::
Everyone has to dance at their own wedding reception, honey.
::Frowns.:: I cannot dance though.

That's why I'm going to teach you. You'll be a wonderful dancer when I get through with you. ::She smiles and takes his hands. She places one of his hands on her waist and the other around her shoulder.::

::Allows his hands to be placed wherever, then musters a smile.:: I will try, but I think you may be getting in over your head here.

It's really easy, just go with the flow of the music. ::She put her arms around Tyler and rested her head on his shoulder.::

::He tried to relax a bit and looked down at her feet.:: You are going to lead right?

Well, technically, the guy is supposed to lead. Just step and I'll follow, and stay in time to the music.

Alrighty then. ::He took a big, long step backwards, with no real rhythm at all.::

::Zandile stumbles a bit, as she is dragged along backwards.:: Ok, then. Maybe I should lead, so you know what to do. ::She took a smaller step in time to the music, then led him around the dance floor.::

::He was led around the dance floor, not really dancing good, just more or less stepping.::

That's better. All it really is, is stepping in time to the music, nothing too fancy. ::She stopped as the song stopped. Then, the band started playing, "Someone to Watch Over Me."::
I love this song ::She whispered.:: You can lead now.

::He led now, taking smaller steps, and dancing in a circle like pattern, around the dance floor... It wasn’t great he was sure, but he was dancing. He sang the words to the song quietly into her ear, in a very deep voice.::

::Zandile closed her eyes and sang quietly, a few octaves above his voice.:: ~You're a good dancer, honey.~ ::She said telepathically, so her singing wouldn't be interrupted.::

::He began to put a little bounce into his steps, he knew he would have to dance in front of a bunch of people , and he didn’t wanna dance stiff-legged-like in front of all them. He smiled at the compliment, and kissed her neck to let her know he heard her, continuing to sing as well.::

::She giggled, her neck was ticklish, and kept dancing.:: ~You're a pretty good singer, too~

::He smiled at this as they continued to dance.:: Only when im singing quietly. ::He had noticed her fidget a bit when he kissed her cheek, so he decided to do it again, a bit longer this time.::

::Zandile started laughing, as he tickled her on purpose this time. The song was ending, anyway, and the band paused.::

::He paused and looked to her.:: That was actually...quite pleasant. I never thought I would say that about dancing.

Yeah, until you tickled me. ::She smiled.:: Do you want to practice some more?
Dancing is always better with the right dance partner, too.
We can dance all night if it will make you happy dear. ::Hoped she didn't really wanna dance all night, but he wouldn’t mind for a little while longer.::

Well, one more song then. "Computer, another song."
::Another song, like the last one started playing.::

::He began to lead her in the same pattern, he thought he was getting better at it, whether he was or not... that was a different story.::

You're doing much better, hon. ::She rested her head on his shoulder again, and tightened the embrace a little. She relaxed, and trusted him in his leading ability.::

::He smiled, he had never been so glad to be a quick learner. He felt very comfortable now as she rested her head on his shoulder again, he assumed that meant she did too.:: I'm most glad to hear that... What is this dance we are doing called?

I'm not sure; I guess it could be considered a type of waltz or something. ::She counted the beats:: No... Waltzes are three beats. It's a type of dance done at weddings, that's all I know.

::He smiled.:: We shall just called slow dancing then. ::He continued to sing the new song into her ear, very quietly and deeply.::

::She started to hum the descant, not knowing the words to this song as readily.::

::They continued to dance around the dance floor, and he sang into her ear as she hummed, until the dance was over. Then he looked her in those beautiful eyes of hers, and gave her a big, long kiss.:: I love you Zandile.

::She returned the kiss.:: I love you too, Tyler.
::He looked at her with twinkling eyes.:: I'm glad you brought me here, I admit, I was against this idea at first, but I have really enjoyed it thoroughly.

That's good to hear. Maybe we can learn some of the Latin dances sometime. They are called the dances of love for a reason, you know.

Perhaps we shall try sometime.
Would you like to go have dinner?

::He nodded and they headed out of the holodeck, en route to the mess hall.::

"Computer, end program and save" ::Called Zandile, as she followed Tyler to the mess hall.::

He walked into the Holodeck."Computer bring up an orbital picture of ch errrr Romulas". He watched the beautiful blue and green planet.White clouds surrounded her in gentle swirls."May the elements guide me and may I accept where they take me." Walking out,"Computer end program."

::Before Rh'vourek stops at the lounge he decides to pop into the Holo-deck and run once through his program that he enjoys immensely.

Computer begin program::

::He finds himself in a forested area with nothing more then his type II phaser. 3 klingons are pursuing him on foot. Rh'vourek quietly hides behind a tree, as he hears the crunch of branches off in the distance. He quietly targets a klingon, and then lets loose on his phaser ((A direct hit). As he begins to move from his cover a shot bursts over his head. The hunt is on the two remaining klingons are after him. He runs through the forested area with the dexterity of a panther. He starts veering right trying to come around and flank the klingons. Almost, almost, then there a klingon searching through some foliage. Rh'vourek targets him and lets loose a volley from his phaser. ((Critical hit, enemy taken out))
One more to go. He moves as quietly as he could to the area where he took out the second Klingon. He then yells in klingon "Over hear" in that guttural language of theres. He waits until the 3rd klingon is 20 paces in front of him then lets loose. (Another critical hit) He gets up wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. Then...

::Rh'vourek enters Holo-deck 1 and inserts his program::

Computer begin program::

::Rh'vourek finds himself hiking in the lush grasslands and magnificent waterfalls of Romulus. He has always been stunned, even as a child, of the beauty of the planet. He could sit there for hours watching a single waterfall, reflecting. He is so inspired today, he starts singing an old romulan Ballard of two lovers, who come from two separate houses that do not like one another. It is a magnificent ballad, that takes a lot of discipline to sing. After his song he walks through the rolling hills and lush forestry of Romulus for about an hour longer, reflecting on life's most deepest questions, Who we are, and What are we meant for. Rh'vourek grins , he knows he is meant to serve ever so faithfully the Romulan star empire as an officer.

::Rh'vourek once again enters holo-deck 1 and inserts his Romulus program again::

Computer, Begin Program::

Rh'vourek finds himself sitting on a high cliff above a mighty waterfall. The sounds of the water hitting the rocks below, and the wind through the foliage has a soothing affect on him. He takes a moment to reflect on his surroundings, bringing a smile to his lips. He then pulls out of his sack that he wears on his back while hiking a book entitled"Klingon For the Galactic Traveler." The book is a very good read, and helps one to know what to expect when encountering a Klingon. It also gives you some useful phrases. Rh'vourek practices these phrases as the waterfall roars below. He intends to know the Klingon culture as good as he understands his own. After about an hour of this, Rh'vourek stands up, takes a deep breathe, and then...........

::Rh'vourek decides to pop in real quick and try out a program this crewman gave him last night::

Computer, Begin Program::

::Rh'vourek finds himself in what appears to be a small town made out of wood. There is something called a Saloon, a billards room, a dry cleaners, a tanner and a general goods store. He finds himself standing in the middle of this town , with dust blowing all around him. across from him about 20 paces is another individual who looks very mean indeed. Strapped to his waist and leg is the single most biggest and heaviest weapon he has ever seen. Someone on the sidelines is explaining the rules, he is saying......."" When I yell draw, each man will draw there weapon and shoot at the other man. The last man standing wins. OK get ready......
Rh'vourek gets this intense feeling, the world around him is moving in slow motion as his adrenaline is pumping He hears the words draw and his hand which was already on the Butt of the revolver easily slides up and out, Pulling the trigger.......... The round in the revolver ((Obviously they used little metal projectiles)) Pierced the other mans abdomen and he falls as a shot rings above Rh'voureks head. The man witnessing the duel declares Rh'vourek the winner, according to the rules of the duel.
Rh'vourek grins, thinking that was indeed intense, it seemed so real. I would like to come back to this town one day and ride one of those animals they seem to be siting on.

Entering the Holodeck,"Computer chRihan,northern coast."The scene suddenly became a beautiful cliff surrounded by a dark sea.The waves and swells crashing against the shore.Overhead the sun shined as a cool northernly breeze blew .Being the VS had its advantages.One being he had programed the computer to show his Home World.Looking to his left he saw a small Cottage,smoke coming from the chimney.Smiling he remembered the cottage.It was where his parents used to take his family to vacation.He loved this place.It was peaceful yet the sea was always powerful here.Being so close to home seemed to bring back old memories.He could almost imagine watching he and his brothers and sisters chasing each other around the cottage.He could see his mother in his fathers arms smiling watching them play.

::Rh'vourek enters the Holo-deck and puts in his own program of ch"Rihan, Val Danadex Trel.::

::Rh'vourek finds himself Hiking along the coastal plains of Val Danadex Trel. He can smell the water carried on the breeze. He can hear the wind travel through the grass making that wisp sound. It is these pictured sights and sounds that make him feel homesick, but at the same time makes him happy. After hiking up to his favorite set of rocks he takes a seat and looks out into the sea. It is a beautiful day, one can almost feel the sun beating down on ones neck. Rh'voureks mind has never been clearer, there is something about this spot. He takes a deep look inward and realizes he likes what he sees. He understands that he has indulged in a lot of habits he might not have had he stayed on ch"Rihan, but with a little self discipline he can fix that. He has always given in strongly to his emotions, that was just the way he was made, he takes after his own mother in that regard. With a little work, he tells himself. he can show more discipline in that regard too. I must not be so fast to let my emotions show. I should guard how I feel at all times. There are still those who will hate because I am a Romulan as crazy as that seems in this day and age we are living. I must display a thick skin, and always remember where I came from. Rhvourek then picks up a stone and skips it through the incoming waves, like he used to do when he was a kid. He stands and hikes a while longer before ending the program::

::Once again Rh'vourek finds himself at the Holo-deck, this time he wants to practice with his type II phaser, before he is asked to qualify for real again.::

Computer ,Begin Program::

::Rh'vourek finds himself standing behind a barrier. About 10meters down is a target, the idea is in 10 shots to collect as much points as he can. Areas of the target are marked 1 through 10, as 10 being the best. Rh'vourek then takes aim with his phaser, awaits the green light and then starts firing. 2 minutes later he is tallying up his score. it seems out of a possible 100, he scored a 90, which isn't bad, but it wasn't too good.::
::Next Rh'vourek is on a knee. 40 targets will pop up 2 at a time at all different ranges. The idea is too hit as many as you can. Rh'vourek once again waits for the green light then commences shooting. He nails the first 5 groupings before missing one. about 10 minutes later he is waiting for his score to be posted. 36 out of 40, he qualifies for expert but just barely. He needs more work. The idea is to make every shot count. Over all he did satisfactory, but not outstanding::

::Rh'vourek enters the Holo-Deck once again with a purpose. He intends to run through this weapons simulation program from level 1 all the way through 5 in the course of the week. He sets the program to level one.....::

Computer Begin Program::

::Rh'vourek finds himself with phaser in hand in front of what looks like a multi level platform. targets constantly pop up and down. The idea is just to get used of the phaser and hit as many targets as one can. the targets are popping up nice and slow, and at this distance of 5 meters, Rh'vourek is nailing the consistently. They tend to start popping up quicker and more frequently, as Rh'vourek adjusts to the new speed. He is doing very well, concentrating on the targets as the pop up, trying to use as little movement as he can. As soon as he hits one target another pops up. He aced this part.
::Next they start moving back and forth, this is to get Rh'vourek used to leading a target with his phaser. At first they are moving very slowly, then as he keeps scoring hits they gradually increase in speed. He grins as the phaser seems to become a part of him. Without thinking and aiming he is feeling the targets. He is in that zone, where nothing else is on his mind or in his sights but them moving targets. He doesn't even realize that the exercise is over and his score is being posted. He takes a quick peak and sees that he has scored very highly, he thinks to himself that is a start. Now tomorrow I will set level 2 of the program::

::Rh'vourek decides to skip the target practice today and run through his ch'Rihan program:

Computer, Begin Program::

::Rh'vourek finds himself hiking through the valley of Chula. He finds himself climbing over rocks that are as old as Romulus themselves. He stops for a second and takes a look around, taking in a deep breathe he can almost smell the surrounding area.<<< Hiking has always had a calming affect on Rh'vourek even as a young child. He would hike for hours on end, venturing further and further until one day he had indeed seen every crevice and hillock of Val Danadex Trel.>>> He shakes the good memory from his head and continues along the path, making mental notes of his surroundings as he goes. The valley is indeed a challenge to navigate, but with much skill and a little patience Rh'vourek prevails, he find himself staring up at the Kae,Raktar Mountains and the end of the path. He smiles to himself as he thinks, next time I am going to take on the mountains::
