Ivan had to excuse himself as he was not feeling well and Cerisus followed him. Ivan of course waved him off that he would be fine, but Cerisus would not hear of it. Ivan just rolled his eyes at him, and then when he least exspect it his leg gave out on him. Cerisus picked his brother up and got him to their quarters. Laying Ivan on the bed he ran a medical scan on him.
He found the knee was stressed and that the mend needed to be braced. He shook his head at his brother. You need to stay in that brace still Ivan. You are not going to help anyone playing macho man. I know...I just didn't want to apear weak in front of the others. I do not want them to think me a charity case. Dought they will think that. After all us and the Greathouses are responsable for putting food in their bellies that come from the land. One bumed knee is not going to make them think less of you.You maybe right brother but I do not want to be treated anymore then what I have for this. It will mend itself if given time. They will respect our ways if not by honoring your words but honoring mine as I am your family.
Ivan then noded letting Cerisus put the brace back on his leg. He was not happy about it but it was a nessity to keep him on his feet. Cerisus patted his brother on his shoulder. I think you need to rest war horse. I will when the colony is settled. Ivan tried to get up but his body protested and he laid back down. Alright, if anyone wants to talk to me you know where to direct them. That I do my brother. Don't worry no funny busness this time. Ivan just moaned a bit and then closed his eyes not realizing how much the previous night's lack of sleep wore on him.
Cerius left his brother after checking on him to make sure he was breathing. He didn't leave until Ivan was sound asleep and wrapted up warmly in the blankets provided. He rubed his face this jounry was wearing on them both but it seamed Ivan was getting the short end of the stick. As much as they fought over the years Ivan was still his twin brother he still cared for him. He went back to the eating area and stood stairing out at the stars that where there. He leaned against the window frame and in his mind said a silent prayer to the gods for his brother.

Hitomi stood back as the Mercury's Doctor worked on Addison. While a certified doctor herself, this sickbay was his domain and she would not interfere unless asked. It also gave her a chance to watch the older man work, letting both his knowledge and experience work wonders on both saving the engineer's life and his hand.
Her grandfather had often praised experience over knowledge, but really, wasn't experience also knowledge? With arms crossed, she could only sit back, watch, and hope for the best for the young engineer. Nobody deserved to lose a limb or their life to a stupid accident.
"How did it happen?" The question brought her back to the here and now. "Miss?"
"Hitomi," she answered quickly with a slight flush as she wondered how many times she had been asked that question in small daydream. "A door got him. He had his hand in the access panel when it opened."
"I see," the older doc nodded, "Think you can go back and find two of his fingers?"

Cerisus went into sickbay area of the ship to see how things where going and to see if someone could help him with his brother. He was told that the Doctors were in with an engineer and that they would be with him shortly. He sat down in the waiting room or more or less paced the floor there and waited. He hopted he was doing right by his brother by doing this but feared he would be doing him a diservice by airing out this rather privet injury.

Think you can go back and find two of his fingers?" "Yes.. yes of course." Hitomi nodded to the Doctor. "I will be right back." Immediatly she grabbed a medical recovery kit and was out of the surgical bay and on her way back to where the grisly accident had occured. As she passed into what passed for a 'waiting area' on the rather cramped mercury, she recognised one of her fellow colonists as he paced back and forth. He did not look ill at first glance, but worried enough that he did not notice her entrance into the small space. "Oh! Hi... " She offered him an apologetic smile. "The Mercury's Doctor will be with you in a few minutes. I will be right back." And out the door and back into the maze of corridors that made up the internal structure of the transport. Never once Hitomi even notice the blood that stained her top or the people that looked at it first and then to her with worry. She was a woman with a mission. |

He simply noded as that was all he had time to do in reaction to her busyness. His brother was laying down in their quarters so it did not concern him that he would have to wait. From the apperance of the Doctor it looked like a man was bleeding and needed something that she was going after.He contiued his pacing across the floor. This place was not one in which he hopted he didn't have to carry his brother to. That he could just talk to the Doctors and have him treated in quarters. He knew Ivan would not like it here.

While Hitomi did not have the best memory for places, she was able to follow the commotion of engineers and security back to the site of the accident. Edging in, she was soon standing behind both a security officer and an engineer.
"excuse me, has anybody seen Mr. Addison's fingers? The doc needs them in sickbay."
All eyes looked up to her, then to the wet blood that was soaking into her uniform. Quickly the two severed fingers were handed over and she had into into a small stasis chamber for the trip back to sickbay.
At least the trip back was more familier.
"I will be right with you... " She breezed past Ivan with the fingers and disappeared into the surgical suite.

Cerius managed to speak this time. It's ok, a man's livelyhood is on the line I'll be here...I've made my choice. Twins share a specail bond and Cerisus was no different with Ivan. He was worried for his brother because of the pain in his eyes but he knew that Ivan was not as bad off as the man they were working on now so that's why he didn't tackle someone for assistance and was restraining himself from pacing too much. He sat down in a chair and just staired off into space waiting for someone to talk to him more then five seconds.

While the Mercury's Doc worked, Hitomi slipped back out of the surgical suite and into the waiting room. Not waiting for the man there to rise, she settled into the chair next to him.
"Sorry about that. I am not actually the doctor here on the Mercury, but the one assigned to the Colony. I might be able to help you though."
To judge by the man's demeanor and clothing, She had hoped he too was a colonist. There was no better way to cement a friendship with somebody than to help them in a time of need.
"now, what seems to be the problem?"

He started to get up when the women entered the room as it was traidtion for his people but when she sat down next to him he just rested back in the chair. He looked at her taking in the sight of her. He looked in her eyes when she introduced herself and spoke. When she was finished there was a breif pause before he spoke.
My name is Cerisus Remises my brother is Ivan. We are twins. Both of us are due to be on the colony you are going to Doctor on so it's actually a good thing that you are the one I'm speaking to about this matter.
He paused to collect his thoughts masking it by rubbing his hands on his face and then sighed before continuing.
My brother is a stubbern man and would never ask for help on his own, but as his brother I will ask for him. He suffered a mild injury to his knee prior to us buying passage on this journy. The Docotor's assured him that it was healing nicely and that by the time we completed our last trade before leaving the busness for a while that he could take the brace off. He did so and seams to have paid the price for it. He had it off for two days and now the pain that was in it when it was mending is back. He refused to sleep last night and I am concerned for him. I didn't know who else to turn to.
He then looked into her eyes concern in his own could be seen and waited to see what she would have to say about what he just told her about his brother Ivan.

Hitomi nodded, hearing his story and seeing the concern and care in his eyes. Twins were a unique case, not enough research was done on them and what it was like to have what amounted to a clone of yourself from time you were an infant to death.
"Without seeing his knee, I cannot tell you anything. I would like to look at it and him though. No one deserves to go through like hurt, especially when we have to worry about setting up a brand new colony and facing unknown dangers. A bad knee could be the difference between life and death."
After coming to a quick decision she nodded to him and herself. "Give me a call when he awakes, I will come to your cabin and look at him in the privacy there. Nobody else needs to know."
"Oh!" She smiled and offered her hand. "Hitomi"

He smiled and shook her hand.
Nice to meet you Dr. Hitomi. Ivan should be up by the time we walk to him if you wish to check him out and see what's there. He would never ask for help directly. Just like our father he is too much involved in his work to really take care of himself. I've been trying my hardest to take care of him in the traditions of our people but still...I beleive modern medican to hold the answer this time around, and I'm glad I came down here you are truely a beautiful women.
He smiled at her and bowed his head a greating that he found over the years did not really offend but convayed his feelings.

She was bored so she decided to walk around the ship to get better aquinted with her surrounding and get some exercise to boot
She'd been walking for a good hour when she spotted the Doctor and one of the men she saw in the lounge. She thought he was rather handsome but she knew that with her phyique, men were uncomfortable around her. She was an inch shy of 6 foot and she had a body builder's build but not enough to hide her femininity.
She decided to approach the to and say hello but then she paused when he heard the man tell the doctor she in an attractive woman. She gave a slight nod, agreeing that she was attractive but women didn't attract her. For a moment, she felt oddly attracted to the man but then again, maybe it was her imagination

Hitomi smiled and tried to hide the small blush that threatened to colour her skin. Thankfully years under the Alpha Centari's three stars had darkened her enough that it was not readily seen unless you knew her.
"of course, he is not going to mad at you for asking me to come and look at him, is he?" She stood up and gathered up her things and grabbed a medical tricorder. "I also want to meet as many people as I can before I have to save their lives, so maybe that will alleviate any of his misgivings?"
All ready, she motioned him towards the door that led from sickbay to the rest of the Mercury. While she knew where a few key places were, the quarters the two brothers shared was not one of them.
"You mentioned "taking care of him in the traditions of our people". Would you mind telling me about them on the way?"

He got up out of the chair and noticed another with them in the area. He smiled at her and then turned his attention back to the Doctor.
He will at first for you are a women and one that he does not know. He holds close the respect that a women shouldn't be in a man's quarters until they are joined as one before god. He will get over it I am sure but do not be supprised if he is awake that he says a few things in Aramaic.
He walked with her through the doors of the waiting area and down the corrador to the sleeping area of the ship talking to all along the way.
What I meant by our traditions is that I have been treating his pain through herbal means. The last of the herbs I gave him to sleep and to ease the pain should be worn off by now, and I'll wake him if he is alseep. It is important that his knee be taken care of. Even if we were to go back to trade he would need to have it looked at before he would be allowed to work.
By the time he got done talking to her about their tradition of medican he was at the door lock of their quarters. He unlocked it and poked his head in. Seeing Ivan awake he spoke in their native language to see if he was fully awake. When Ivan gave the proper response he stepted in and then motioned for the Doctor to follow.
It's alright Doctor he knows who you are and it not opposed to you're entry.
Ivan looked at the women standing in the doorway and smiled before he spoke in Standard.
He explained to me your purpose I understand why you must enter and beleive it exceptable to proceed. Just you will have to forgive me for not standing as I have been dozing off and on throughout the time my brother has been gone.

The doctor seemed oblivious to her presense but the man oticed and he turned a smile toward her a moment. She smiled back at hm before he returned his attention back to the doctor. She over heard some bits and pieces of their conversation and she gather that his brother has an injury that should be looked at
Thinking she shouldn't be listening at all, she turned and went down the corridor from whence she came, thinking of another section of the ship she has yet to explore
