:: nods.:: umm. vulcan coffee if your replicator makes it thank you. :: he takes the cup and sits down::
I need some advice, from counselor to counselor. As you may or may not know, I'm on the new york as they're Ship's counselor, But I'm having some difficulty. The Romulans are not used to having a counselor on board. There are also a number of Humans who are not used to having Romulans on board, let alone being in Romulan space. The senior staff is fine, but I'm not able to help those who need it.. Romulans, humans, etc. I don't know how to make them feel better about our mission. I was wondering if you had any advice... :: sips his coffee::

She smiled and listened to his very complex question.I have done quite a bit of research on Romulans.I noticed as soon as I joined the Fleet we had 2.Now we have 4.J'Den it may seem illogical to hear this but my advice on Romulans are too let them counsel themselves. They may seem cold but in fact are a very passionate race with an extremely complex society. If they feel the need to talk it will probably be among-st themselves. Now as for the rest of your crew thats another subject. We both know neither side has really fully trusted each other even after the peace treaty. My ad vice to you is to talk to them and let them know their is no guarantees in life period. It does not matter whose space they are in danger can pop up at anytime.Just reassure them that they have a job to do and if they have doubts concentrate on their jobs and use this as a learning opportunity. They have the chance to be the first Federation ship in history to get a chance like this. They have a chance to make history. She stopped and sipped her coffee hoping she had helped him.

:: nods :: someone asked me why the 2 species have such a predialection towards each other. I told (him/her) that the animosity will diminish after the 2 species trust each other again, and that the trust will have to be earned. However, It didn't go over well. I will take your advice very seriously, but the Romulans are still bound to come in from time to time. :: sips his coffee:: and they are very stubborn. So are Humans. Thank you Counselor :: about to stand up:: before I go. You must not get to talk to a counselor very often... Anything on your mind?

::Shocked by his questions she thinks really hard and then knows what she wants to know:: I am so glad to be on this ship and the crew is the best. I do want to know is how do you handle all the stress of being a counselor and still try to make people look at you as a person also. When I go to the RR people seem to kinda say hi then be done with me. So I guess what I want to know is how do I get people to know that I am a friend also not just a counselor ? ::sits back and waits for him to answer::

::smiles big at her question, which dosen't happen alot:: They don't look at me as a person.. they look at me as a Vulcan. Somehow, that makes them respect my professional opinion a bit more. Just be yourself Clara, speak up instead of waiting for them to address you. Be... um... friendly. My objective has been to get the crew of the New york yo trust me implicitly.. that way, it dosen't mater what position I'm at, They still ask advise. Your humanity cannot be seperated into the counselor and the person, you have to be both at the same time... all the time.. :: sips the coffee and awaits the response::

She smiled as she heard the advice of J'Den."Thank you what you have just told me makes a lot of sense.I will embrace my humanity more into my job and let the crew know that I can be trusted and a friend as well. That way as you said they will feel more comfortable asking for advice at anytime and still look at me as another person."::Smiling::Would you care for more Vulcan coffee?I had my replicator programed for any non alcoholic drink for any race in the Federation and that also includes our new exchange Officers. That does bring me to another question. How is it to be a CNS on a ship that not only has a Romulan Captain but crew members as well?''::She smiled waiting for his response.::

It's very interesting, but I don't suppose it's much different from being a counselor on any other ship. The Romulans really don't know what a counselor does...::makes his way to the replicator and puts the empty cup inside:: Vulcan mocha :: standing with the cup in his hands as he continues:: Romulans don't like to admit to any shortcomings, especially to non-Romulans, so it's unlikely that I will see the Captain, or the other Romulans very often. The REAL issue, is being in the middle of Romulan Space... Everybody's on their toes, Which is good for response times, but horrible for Human nerves. It's a challenge that I look forward to. :: sips the coffee and sits back down::

Smiles, yes we humans do tend to get a little edgy when we are placed in unfamiliar surroundings or situations.I have studied Romulans quite extensively as soon as I found out we had them in the Fleet.I am not so sure it is a matter of Romulans not liking to admit shortcomings as it is they pride themselves and train themselves that any shortcoming is looked at as a failure or very frustrating to say the least. You are correct however,I don't see them running to your office asking for help for themselves at least. She sat back and sipped her tea.

Yes please feel free to come by anytime, and thank you for your help also. Have a good day. :: sitting back down and starts to make a few notes on everything she just learned::

Lt Cmdr T'Lar would come up to the Counselor's office and rings the chime. She would want to know how the Counselor is doing and how she is handling things on the ship. Making some visits to some of the departments to check up on them. To see if there are any problems or concerns that may need to be addressed.
T'Lar would wait at the door before she could enter, her hands behind her back.

Hearing the door chime she put down her PADD."Please come in."
She was surprised to see Commander T'Lar come in.Smiling,"How are you today Commander?Care for something to drink?"
Clara motioned her hand for her to have a seat if she wanted.

Lt Cmdr T'Lar would walk into the office and over to the chair that Clara had motioned her to. She sat down in it, sitting up straight.
"I am well. I am not thrusty at this time, but thank you. I have came to see how you are doing and/or if there is any kind of matter that may need to take care off. As well as of how the moral of the crewmembers are doing on the ship."
Although she is Vulcan, but the well being of the crewmembers' moral does give her logical concerns when and if it so happens prohibits them from doing their duties on board the ship. Especially after the situation at hand with the mission concerning the new aliens that they have encountered. Stress and high emotions can sometime interfer if not balanced right.
