He had not yet expected to be called down to Sick Bay, but relents, knowing that his records might not have come in yet.
As he was on his way off the bridge following his shift, he'd step into the turbolift and press his com badge.
"On my way, doc."
As the doors hiss closed, he'd call out his destination.
"Main Sick Bay."

She was in her office going over the new crew members file. When she received his com informing her he was on his.
"Understood Cmdr. Mac Auley out."
"Nurse Fong when when the Cmdr gets here take him to exam room 1."

After a few minutes, he would come into the main Sick Bay, and look around, noting that not much had changed from when he last served on the Terrasect, but under Harsting
"Okay, doctor, what can I do for you?"

She walked into the examination room and smiled at him.
"Its not what you can do for me, its what I can do for you.' imitating as best she could the 20th century President J F Kennedy and with her thick Scottish accent it was somewhat funny and many found it a great stress reliever.
"You need to be cleared for duty. Now before ya tell me you'll not be needing one cause yer had one just a short time ago, I'll tell ya that I was not the attending. There is nothing like meeting, getting to know the crew and seeing first hand the person behind the name. Besides each one of us does things differently. Now if you'll be good enough to lie back on the bio bed we can begin."

As he did indeed get a physical while at the starbase before coming aboard the Terrasect, he thought for sure he was good to roll, and had sent the results down to Sick Bay.
He did not want to sound rude or anything, and carefully watched the way he spoke.
"Doc, I could've sworn I had one on the inside of a month before coming on-board. If I may ask, what do you do differently from the physician on the Alexandria?"
Relenting, he hops up onto the biobed and lays down.

She could see his impatience and annoyance. This was not her ruling although she fully agreed with it. She began to read the data streams.
"What I do differently? My emphasis is more on you and not the data stream I'm looking at. While thats important, medicine still remains an art. I have gained a wealth of information on you that your chart could not even begin to tell me. And should yer be needing my services at a later date, this will aid me in devising a treatment plan."
"In addition, germs are pesky creatures and doesn't respect the fact that your last exam cleared you. How do we know you've not picked up something in the meantime?"
"But what is the most important thing to me as a Doctor, I now have a face, attitude, feeling that goes with your chart."
She moved to the stress tolerance test and then looked at him. Smiling, "Yer see it was not that bad was it? Your cleared for duty."

He raises both eyebrows in a healthy degree of surprise at her methods.
"Wow...
Let me see if I can help set my record straight.. I'm normally a nice person.. I'm just not fond of physical examinations. I've had some that were... let's say a little 'intrusive' and very uncomfortable."
With the remark on germs not respecting medicine that much, he had to agree.
"Alright, you got me there.. I don't like getting sick either.. For that matter, I have yet to meet anyone who does." he added, trying to throw in a bit of humor of his own.
He doesn't add that the one from the Alexandria reinforced this view, as he felt almost like a lab animal, being poked and prodded in places he didn't realize he had.
He thought if she had said something to the effect of wanting to get to meet him, that easily would have tempered his attitude.
"I will say that this one was perhaps the smoothest one I've ever had." he responded, while sitting up.

She smiled at him, "Well, there was no need to poke and prod in areas yer didn't know yer had. Seems the last Doctor did that for me. At any rate, your free to go when you like." Her smile never faded.
Yes her methods may be a tad unusual and perhaps she wanted and needed to know her patients beyond the read outs. She never told anyone why cause she wanted the raw feelings they had on sickbay.
As she finished his examination Nurse Fong came in, "Doc your needed ASAP in exam room 2." She looked at Ijoula, "Seems I'm needed. I'll be leaving yer now."
She rushed out and went immediately to the exam room. When she walked in she looked at the patient and walked over reading the data stream. "What happened to him, he looks like he hit a building or a tree or something."
"Crewmen can yer hear me? What is yer name and rank?" She had no response and looked at the read out he was unconscious and had a fracture to the temporal lobe region. In addition to fractures of both legs, 3 ribs, his right arm, and right jaw. She shook her head as she read it. As the readout continued it revealed internal bleeding in the stomach.
"Prep him for surgery." She left and went directly to surgical suite 1 and got ready to enter surgery. She had Dr Stevens prepare the anaesthetic. When she entered the surgery the patient was already out and was placed in isotropic restraint. She immediately began to look for and found the bleeder, after closing it and making sure it was not leaking she began the rest of the surgery. Two hours later she left surgery and went to her office after leaving instructions with the nursing staff.
She made out a report to Engineering that the holosuite malfunctioned and a crew men was injured badly. Stating firmly it need to be fixed immediately if not sooner. She already made sure that holodeck room was closed. She then made her report to the Captain.

Post by Lt. J.G. Kestral Greyhouse on May 15, 2009 10:22:49 GMT -5
JP between Crio, Kestral and the EMH
After talking it over with Crio for a while they desided that they would walk to sickbay togeather to see if the good Doctor was in. Given the time of day on the ship the likeyhood of that was slim. She held onto his hand as they walked down the corrador on the deck that sickbay was on. It wasn't long and they were at the doors of sickbay. Entering the sickbay was empty except for the normal night shift personell. She sighed really wanting to get this over with.
Crio walks with her, and upon entering Sick Bay, he also looked around.
"Oh great... Only the night nursing staff is here.. Unless...."
He thinks for a moment "What about the EMH? Even though it's a computer program, it's got alot of medical skills to it."
Would be a good idea. She looked streight ahead, Computer activate EMH program. She waited for the EMH to come on-line.
::Appears:: Please state the nature of the medical emergency. EMH>Well? Are we getting paid by the hour now?
He continues to hold Kestral's hand.
"There isn't really an emergency, doctor, but we would appreciate some surgical services."
EMH> What type of surgery? Is the ship's Doctor incapacitatied?
"Doc MacAuley is currently asleep as far as I know..."
He glances back at Kestral.
She had a good grip on Crio, I'm scared, but I need to get this over with before I deside to not do the surgery and finish letting my back heal.
He nods slowly, holding her hand closely. "Doc, are you familiar with surgical procedures involving repair work on the spine, in humans?"
EMH> Spinal surgery is quite serious. It is most unusual for the EMH to perform such delicate procedures without authorization, unles the Ship's physician is incapacitated or...dead. Where are your records?
In the ship's computer Kestral Greyhouse, Doctor. Its follow up to the other surgeries I have had. The last one in the treatment from my understanding.
EMH>::Calls up the records. Nods. Still having this done without authorization could incur disciplinary measures from your superior officers. Are you in great discomfort at this moment? ::Scans her.:: The K-7 indicators do show a relatively high level of pain.
She looked to Crio, I knew this was a bad idea that I should have just coped with it like I normally do with the back brace. But I don't want to hurt you or be in pain anymore.
EMH> The physician is in the midst of his sleep cycle. We can circumvent authorization on the basis of the pain you are in, and the fact that the Doctor would not be performing at full efficiency due to fatigue I will perform the procedure on that basis. It would be less than safe for him to perform the surgery in his current state of slumber being disturbed.
He continues to hold her hand.
"Actually, a her.. but okay. Do the doctor's records show that she was wanting to perform this procedure before too long? Capt Crio Ijoula: "
EMH> according to the record she is due for the pricedure.
EMH>However the Captain must be informed of this.
"I will personally inform him that Lieutenant Greyhouse will need to be on light duty for a while..
She sighed holding onto Crio's hand couldn't help the feeling that she was making a mestake and the longer that they stood there the more her back hurt.
He would turn toward her a bit and gently rub her upper back, to help ease her tension.
EMH>Your pain indicators are rising. I will deem this a medical emergency and perform the procedure. At this stage, drugs will do very little. I need you on biobed one in a prone position.
Crio would walk with her over toward the biobed, promising to stay with her as much as he was permitted.
She walked with him over to the bio bed then laid down as instructed by the EMH. All the while she wouldn't let go of Crio's hand. The coolness comfroted her. Just know that he was there.
EMH>::Activates the sterilizaton beams. Hands kestral a surgical gown::
She puts on the gown all the while holding onto Crio or looking at him at the very least.
Crio looks toward the holographic doctor.
"With your permission, I'd like to stay with her throughout."
EMH>As long as you stay out of my way. This is a serious procedure, though not life threatening.. Capt Crio Ijoula: He nods slowly. "I understand."
That's good he's letting you stay. I don't think I would be able to do this without. She was looking at Crio laid back out on the biobed.
Advanced spinal surgery was beginnign to advance in the 21st century. at that time, we used to ensert filaments onto the disclks and heat them. Today we use the microtransporters.
As I remove each spinal module, I will then apply the regenerator to streanthen the meninges and form a natural support for the columsn as a whole. The spinal formation is in a good position. this is actually a good time to do this.
He would continue to hold her hand and give a few squeezes to reassure her.
"Okay." he would then turn back toward Kestral. "What kind of precautions will be needed afterward?"
::The Microtransporter array lowers over her:: She will need to wear the brace for a while to keep the back in the proper erect positon so that the spine heals properly. Some pain medication will be in volved, as well as regular physical therapy to streanthen the spine to work on it's own. The brace needed will be very unrevealing. you will be able to do light duty, but not full time. If all goes well, you'll be nearly normal withing 8 weeks. let's not rush anything
She could sence what was going on around her and almost went leaping off the biobed when the Doctor started talking about recovery but instead calmed herself down to talk, I've been putting this off this long so I guess 8 more
He nods slowly and continues to hold Kestral's hand.
weeks won't hurt. That is if the ship can handle this and... She looked at Crio, you can handle putting up with me.
He smiles a little.
EMH>::Monitors the MTP and the regenerator arrays.:: Regenerating the tissues is the least of our problems. You have to get your natural tissues back up to full streanght. as you continue the therapy you'll be able to increase your duty time.It is imperative that your therapy be consistent, or ti could be detrimental to your spinal health.
"If I've put up with the Borg nearly assimilating me twice... I think I can handle an eight-week stretch of making sure you take it easy."
She laughted a bit, I guess you can put up with me for that long going through all that. Writersdream22: She looked at the Doctor, I got this far. Can't go back now.
EMH No I have to erect a containment field in order to hold your body perfectly still so the transporters can do their job
He looks at the doc. "Do you need me to move at all?"
I don't like this at all but it has to be done. I got to get better. I can't live the rest of my life like I was. She looked at Crio, Not with you in my life now needing me to be strong.
No, you're fine. The Transportes are doing their work. The primary work was already done by the Dr. This is just the finish up. She's going to have to remain here in the ICU for a few days. The Dr will have to review everything that was done. She will decide when Kestral can be moved.
He was still holding her hand so as to keep her calm, even as he heard the bursting hum of the forcefield generators kicking in and erecting a field, with the continued low hum proving that the field was up.
When ICU was mentioned her eyes got wide but she kept quite knowing full well that protesting wouldn't help things.
We're going to fit you with a light exo frame similar to what was used by Dinara Pel. It will enable you to move without aggrivating the new tissues. Still, Movement must be kept to a minimum until the tissues can get stronger.
How long do I have to be in sickbay for and off duty?
Im afraid that for tonight, you'll have to reamain just a you are. I'll administer a sedative so you can sleep. As far as your question, The Docotor will make that official determination when she returns for her shift. Mr Ijoula you may stay if you like.
She noded and then looked to Crio one last time before she felt the hiss of the hypo. That is when she felt her eyes get droopy and she fell asleep on her stomach on the bio bed.

She walked into sickbay, fuming would be an understatement. How dare anyone do this in her sickbay. She went into her office and checked the logs. She then typed in a code into the EMH program, to be activated as soon as it was free. This crew had better hope that the two surgeons on board her and Smith had better stay healthy and alive. Cause only god himself will be able to activate that blasted program.
She then went into pre-op area and suited up. She walked in and saw a non medical personnel in the surgery bay. If this patient got an infection who would pay the price, why the CMO of course, for lax procedures.
The EMH looked up as she entered.
"Please, dun let my being here upset your scheduled surgery. It is scheduled unless it was life threating. I'll just watch unless of course your banning me from my own surgery too. Do tell Doctor, what plans have yer for this and where is the holo image of the spine"?
She crossed her arms and waited for this to end. And her staff would not see light of day for at least a month.

He would look up from Kestral as he heard another voice come in, and inwardly cringes, having honestly thought that the doc was not awake, and had made the mistake of the absent-minded suggestion of using the EMH. He knew that things risked hitting the fan at this point.
When they had come in, he honestly did not know if anyone outside of the relief staff was on duty, but now, he knew otherwise, and is mad at himself and definitely worried.

The EMH looked at her, "My appologize this was an emergancy situation. The Lt. was in sevear pain and seamed to only get wrose as she stood."
Kestral was looking at Crio when the EMH was speaking to the Doctor. She was in pain but was holding it in. That is till the EMH deactivated and her fear got the best of her. She yelled out a bit and quickly stuffted it down. Sorry a laps like that on my end won't happen again. She was holding still because of the device and feild around her. Holding onto Crio's hand so tightly her knuckles were white.
The EMH finished the surgery and then deactivated himself knowing full well that the Doctor was upset.
Kestral laid there on her stomach, I think he's done. I don't know.

He stays with her, having observed the surgery, and looks at the readouts and the diagrams on the monitors indicating what happened, and what was done.
"I think so." he said, holding her hand still.

In a restirction feild so she couldn't move wasn't the most comforting thing for her. She was laying on her stomach still on the table where the surgery was performed. She didn't know if the Doctor approved or not for she didn't hear the Doctor only Crio telling her that he thought it was over as well.
I got so many questions right now. Everything happened so quickly. I guess I was in more pain then what I alowed myself to feel. Never seen an EMH move quickly without reguard for protical. I just hope that Doctor will take over my care now that he be gone.

He would nod slowly, and gave her a slight, reassuring squeeze on her hand.
He would then lean over and whisper to her very softly, so that nobody else could hear.
"I think it'd be a good idea not to get the good doctor's hair up in a tizzy, as some might say... However, you do need to seriously rest and recupe."
