Role-Play: Sickbay

[Dr Colina MacAuley]

She smiled at him, "Thank ya for comin in so promptly. This will only take a few minutes." she looked over the chart.

"Aye, I see ya have no allergies, injuries since ya last examination. Now if ya be going over to the treadmill I check how you respond to stress." She smiled and put on the pre set program. When it finished she smiled.

"Your free to go Ensign, and cleared for duty." She walked out of the examination room reading his chart.

Once she was back in her office she wrote out her report and send it on to the captain.

After checking on a patient she left instructions for his care. On the way to her quarters she decided to return to the ceremony.

She was in her office when a little boy came in with his mother. She smiled and got up, walking over to him she could see the tears welled up in his eyes. He was trying to be a big boy.

"Well hello there. What happen to ya?"

"I fall and hit my head and arm."

"Ach, come with me and we'll get ya fixed up. Whats your name?" She walked him to exam room 1. And then lifted him on the bio bed. She turned on the scans smiling at him while reading the results.

"I'm Adam Lewis jr. Like my daddy."

"And its a grand name Mr Lewis jr."

"Seems ya fractured your bone right here." She pointed and then carefully placed an "X" where the fracture was. Taking out the osteogenic stimulator, she ran it over the fracture a few times until the bone was healed. She then gave him a shot of vitamins to assist in strengthening the bones.

"And ya head now is fine. Its as hard as a rock, I tell ya, probably put a hole in the bulkhead. We'll keep this our secrete until its fixed." She smiled at him. Adam started laughing at thinking he was putting one over on the Captain.

Then looking at this mother, "He'll be fine. It was a minor fracture and his head is fine. His arm will be sore, so for the next day or two let him rest it."

Looking at Adam, "Now you be careful, ya hear me?" she smiled at him.

Sickbay had been quiet for a few days in that time she got alot of the administrative work done. She and her staff did an inventory and general tidying up of the area.

She ran a few drills of the triage. During one of the drills one of the civilians came in. Colina went over to her.

"Can I help yer. I'm Doctor MacAuley. And you are?"

"I'm one of the colonist Susan Bateman. I haven't been feeling well the past 2 weeks, getting sick on and off."

"Well then yer come to the right place. Please go with Nurse Fong and I'll be right in."

[Lt. J.G. Kestral Greyhouse]

She came to sickbay after waking up a bit. She had her padd in hand that had her duty transfer orders. She was transfering from the USS Phonix to the USS Terrasect. She had also with her the medical records so that she could give them to the good Doctor. She sat down in the waiting area of sickbay and waited for the Doctor she knew that sickbay could be a busy place at times and was happy to wait. Unlike most people she enjoyed wherever she was at.

She raised her head and saw a crew member waiting to be seen. Colina stood up and walked out then over to the young woman, extending her hand.

"Hello, Lt. I'm Dr MacAuley, the chief medical officer, and who might you be?" He smile was warm and genuine.

[Lt. J.G. Kestral Greyhouse]

She smiled when the women approched her and exstended her hand in a greeting. Getting up from her chair she bowed to her in turn greeting her.

"My name is Lt. Kestrial Greyhouse I am transfering from the USS Phonix. It is nice to meet you Dr. MacAuley."

She then took out the proper padd with her medical records on it.

"I wanted to hand you this in person rather then have the Phonix just transfer them over. Just encase you wanted to do a physcial on me or had questions about any of the past injuries or surgeries listed on the padd."

She said that hoping to exsplain her presents in a rather odd time of day and to also be respectful of the other women's time.

She looked at the padd and then smiled at her. "If you'll come this way." She walked to exam room 1, and entered.
"Have a seat on the bio bed. Now before yer say anythin I like to do a reading myself. And its standard procedure here."

She helped her to lay down and then turned on the scans beginning to read them.

"Since yer last check, anythin I should know?"

They walked to the exam room and when they got in the doctor directed her to the bed. She noded at the comment of wanting to read it herself she could understand that. She laid down on the bed and then when the Doctor asked if there was anything sence her last exam that needed to reported she noded.

" I broke my spine in two places and was temperarly parlaized from the waste down. The nerve damage seams to have repaired itself acroding to the Doctor on the Phinox but he adivised for it to be looked after for a few more weeks just to make sure I can use my lower body. Other then that I have been fine."

She smiled up at the women seeing her do her work.

"I see thats recorded here about yer spine, and the scans are showing they healing well. But I want the bones thicken a bit as they should be. So I be puttin yer on some vitamins, I adhere to the old saying that an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Here let me show the damage. "

She brought up a holo image of the spine

You injured the lumber section, there are 5 vertebrae and you fractured the first one. When you did you also pulled a ligament. Fortunately it was not severed or the recovery would be longer.

"I'm gonna be designing some exercises I want yer to do. It will help to strengthen and speed the remaining recovery thats still needed. You can stay on duty but, I want to see yer if it bothers you at all."

"I'll see yer in here on Wednesday." She wrote her instructions on a padd. Then gave her a hypospray of vitamins. "Do you have any questions?"

[Capt Grab Foot Of~Two Dawns]

He tapped the comm on the desk, opening a link to sickbay. "Commander Grab Foot Of~Two Dawns to Doctor MacAuley. I would like to discuss with you the Captain's condition. Could you come to the Captain's Ready Room?"

She took the padd when it was offered to her with the instructions on how to do the exserizes and breifly looked over it before sitting up on the bio bed and looking the women in the eyes.

"No ma'am. I'll make sure to follow the instructions and come here if it starts hurting. I know the spine holds alot togeather and sence I only have one would hate to lose it."

She smiled her attempt at a joke. She then got down off the bio bed and bowed to her. The rose back up to standing, but not before hearing the comm.

"Thank you Doctor for the check up. I'll report back in on Wednesday. From the sounds of it the good Commander would like to talk to you. Good luck."

She smiled at her, "Aye then I'll be seeing yer on Wednesday then." Colina turned and walked out to her office. Once there she sat down and opened her com link.

"I'll be right there. Cmdr." She grabbed her padd with the information on Capt Harsting, then left the sickbay.

[Capt Grab Foot Of~Two Dawns]

A minute passed before he would hear the doctor respond to his call to meet with him in the Captain's Ready Room. She must be with a patient, he thought to himself

"Acknowledged, Doctor" He said when she said she would be right there. He closed the channel and waited

After leaving the RR she went directly to sickbay and started her preps for the possible injuried on the Jackson. She left a message for the new crew member.

"Cmdr Ijoula I need to see ya in sick bay ASAP. Dr. Mac Auley out."
