"The mysteries of the universe and Starfleet. Just when you think you begin to understand the complexities, it will throw something completely unexpected at you.
"You lost both a brother and a job you loved."
She took another sip of the brandy. "You wouldn't happen to have a traditional Irish dessert in mind to go along with this would you?" She sighed and leaned back. "I haven't been this relaxed in a long time." She watched his image, distorted through the amber coloring of the glass.
"Do you feel bitter about what happened? I ask that personally and not professionally."

We all begin with good intent Love was raw and young We believed that we could change ourselves The past can be undone But we carry on our back, the burden Time always reveals In the lonely light of morning In the wound that would not heal It's the bitter taste of losing everything that I've held so dear... Though I've tried I've fallen...
Sarah McLachlan Anichent opened his bag and began to pull out it's items one by one. When he grabbed a sealed airtight package, one that had arrived from Andoria the day he left the Fleetyards, he turned and began unsealing it as he walked towards the livingroom area of the lodge. Peeling away the last of the packaging, Anichent held up the dark clay oblong platter, his eyes tracing the inticate and colorful patterns carved within it. Suddenly there was that longing, one that he had become accustomed to burying in a deep and dark place. He was caught now by the aroma of the platter's content's, and his antennae moved in pleasure. This was a dish to be shared; Shaysha it was called, an insect delicacy wrapped in a sourgrain bread. He laid it down on the sideboard table next to the bowl of Sandbush seeds. This would be his contribution.

Stepping into his quarters the computer informed him he had a personal message.Walking to the replicator he ordered a coffee black.Taking a seat on the couch he told the computer to play the message.Smiling as he heard the voice of his sister Rhonda.
He listened as she told him what was going on in Indianapolis. She told him about how the twins were now four and growing like weeds and her husband Stan was now promoted to Vice president of Cor Tek industries. She asked how he was doing then she went into her usual have you found a woman bit and she hoped he was safe .Chuckling as he listened to her sermon about how being a marine was dangerous and she wanted him to retire and get a safer job.
Finally she got to the I love you and miss you before the message ended.Taking a drink of his coffee stifling a yawn he looked around the room.Thinking he already had a lady in his life. She was very jealous and demanding. Her name was the Tarawa.Relaxing he informed the computer to play Ode To Joy as he enjoyed his coffee.

Part of me was bitter when I came on board. He took a sip of brandy. Talking to Lexie and listening to her problems helped. I realized that my brother would not wish for me to waste the life I had wallowing in self pity. Tarawa is not so bad a ship. Granted I don't get the adrenaline rush that MCE service gave me, but I find I don't miss it as much lately.
He looked at a red light flash next to his bed. Apparently the Colonel is about to give the order to shove off. Looks like we'll have to postpone that desert. I have to go down the Engineering and send a diagnostic report before we move out. He stood up. I want to thank you Nemi, I haven't had a conversation this stimulating in a long time.

"You won't mind then if I consider the interruption a good excuse to continue the conversation later?
She smiled.
"You were an excellent host, lack of time and planning notwithstanding."
"My quarters next time. I'll introduce you to some traditional Greek dishes."
She left with him, considering the possibility of a toddy with a drop of brandy in it before bed.

Anichent went back to his sleeping area and continued to unpack his travel bag, while avoiding one item until it was the final one. Finally he reached in and pulled out a black velvet pouch, fingering it as he tossed his bag onto the floor near the foot of the bed.
He sat down heavily, loosening the pouches drawstring, and then releasing it's only content into one hand; a silver ring. Squeezing his hand, he clutched it tightly, leaning back on the bead as he moved his fist to his forhead.
He closed his eyes as his memory took him back many years. He was at his Keep's pre-university, among many other youth, and their young voices recited in unison, "With the bond, we are Whole. Without the Whole, there is nothing."
There is nothing.

It was one of those deep sleeps you were loathe to wake from. She was deliciously warm and relaxed and it took some time before the incessant beeping of the console was able to tug her from unconsciousness. Bits of a dream still floated before her but she was unable to reassemble them. All that was left was the pleasant aftermath that tried to tease her back to sleep.
She opened one eye and focused on the digital display, hoping she was wrong and could remain in the cocoon of her blankets a while longer. No such luck. With a reluctant sigh, she yawned and tossed the blankets off.
Her morning routine was simple. Toiletries first. She'd been letting her hair grow out a bit since she'd come aboard, and it took longer now to care for. Then dress. She was in the habit of showering and laying out her uniform the night before. One less thing to have to worry about later. Then a light breakfast while looking over reports and correspondence. There was little business this morning. There hadn't been since they'd begun shoreleave. She put the console in sleep mode and checked the time. Half an hour yet before the shift began. Colonel Allen had recalled everyone last night. Just before dessert. She scowled.
,"Attention Alpha shift this is Colonel Allen all stations report for duty and all department heads in the Ready Room as of yesterday."
The comm sounded urgent. Either the Colonel had had an idea of what was coming or he just had excellent timing. It sounded like he'd received new orders. She left the half cup of tea on the desk and exited her quarters, then paused outside the door. Should she go to her office or to the bridge? If something was happening, she decided, she wanted to know about it as soon as possible.
"Bridge." she told the computer as she stepped into the lift.

She got up and sat on the coffee table, faceing him she smiled then took his hands in hers. She closed her eyes, let the mind shield down completely, then reached out to him. She waited for the connection before starting the vista.

He sat up and leaned toward her as she got up and sat back on the coffee table, facing him. She took her hands and joined them with his. He closed his eyes and felt her mind reach out for his. He extended his own mind to meet with her halfway, waiting to see what he would see

Being new to the ship and the ship in dock still for a while she decided to go to the quarters that were assigned to her. Having already put on the uniform proper to her new assignment, a tradition of her’s, she didn’t really need to pick up new uniforms. The quartermaster gave her the deck assignment of her quarters and she nodded a thank you to the man before walking to them using the turbo lifts as necessary.
Reaching the quarters she was assigned she walks in and notes that they look the same as the last ones that she was assigned just a different color of gray. She would soon have the walls covered with her own personal touches but now was not the time to dream about that as Kestral was just here to drop off her duffel and to get the location of the Captain so to report into him for official reassignment.
The computer was quick to tell her that the captain was on the move and so she decided to meet him in his office or at least try to. Putting her duffel down right in front of the desk that was standard in the room she walked out ignoring the boxes that had her personal items in them for now as she was on a mission.

She found her quarters and opened the door with the code that was provided for her by the quarter master. She looked around it was acceptable she put some of her things away. The last thing she took out from her bag was her Vulcan meditation lamp she set it on top of her dresser.
She then went over to the comm panel and sent a message to the Doctor and the counselor requesting an appointment to see them. Once the messages were sent she went back to her meditation lamp and lit it she then sat down in a chair and begun to meditate as she waited for a response from her messages.

Yuna had called and asked her if she would like to move in, of course she said yes to close to Anara and Leeta and help her Sis take care of them.
She was Playing with Anara and Leeta "I got you" she laughed as she chased them around the quarters, the girls would giggle as they were chased.
She hears Moon call everyone back to the ship, she looks at Anara and Leeta "Duty calls" she looks at Yuna

Yuna was pleased when she saw the assigned quarters that she'd been given, althought she thought it might be too big. Maybe she just wasn't used to some a spacious quarters. Anara and Leeta were happy too, jumping around and carrying on like normal toddlers their age.
She helped Ava with her things and showed her around their new quarters, then smiled and laughed as Ava and the girls chased each other.
She heard the commander's return to duty call and she groaned slightly. Just as she was getting used to having her girls around. She nods at Ava as she stated that duty calls "Ok, girls. Mommy and aunty needs to go to work again. I can let you go play with the other kids in the nursery." She bends down to hug them as they come over "Mommy promises not to be gone so long this time. You be good for the teather, k?"
"k" they chorused. She walked with them to the nursery, as Ava went down to the flight deck. She dropped ooff her two angels, then headed to the bridge to start her first shift as tactical officer
