Robert was on the bridge part watching the kinetic Security Chief and his display. Just as he turned to his screen Rekalan's voiced came over his console. He nearly jumped out of his chair. "Yes Ma'am." He acknowledged as he caught his breath.

"I need your discretion lieutenant. No other personnel involved unless necessary. Understood?" She hoped he also understood the implied meaning that no one should overhear him as well." Deka hated having to ask the chief for assistance but it was a matter of efficiency.
When she received his acknowledgment, she continued.
"I'm outside the hangar deck, dock eight and need the code to get inside. There are three guards here. All involved in a card game and plainly not interested in leaving it. I need to distract them. I need to know also, who's inside. No point in avoiding discovery externally, only to find they are much more attentive internally; and I need to do all this "off the record." No security feed or files showing I was here. Are you up to the task?"

Deka stifled an oath as she slid further back and into the shadows of the bay. Damn these Federation devices. None of them were intended for stealth. They didn't even have a "silence" function. One more question she now had for Lang. Could he modify a comm badge for volume control. She stepped back even further to make sure the engineer's response wouldn't be heard.

Robert felt that her order for discretion meant he should contact her in text only. He sent a message to her PADD:
Dear D,
I got your message and am sympathetic to your pleas for help. I intend to leave a 'sign' to your friends that will cause them to flee in panic. Expect them to feel what they did to you threefold and the moves will be one after the other. If you understand the meaning of my words please respond.
Yours Truly, Bobby.
He snickered at the signature he left but it went along with the regulation on messages in an open channel. He sent the text message hoping she might realize his distraction was in place.

Deka chafed at the wording of the message but despite the cheeky informality, there was nothing truly insubordinate in it.
She sent back a single word in response. "Acknowledged." It was all that was necessary but in this case, she also didn't trust herself to say any more.

Lang smiled at the acknowledgment knowing that he would probably get a stern talking to when the Cardassian commander returned to the ship, but regulations were regulations. He activated proximity alarms in a two section radius from her hoping it would in fact draw the guards away. He sent a message to her to acknowledge when the guards had moved.

With the alarms going off, there was no chance now of being overheard. The greater danger was that she would be seen and someone would become suspicious.
" The guards are gone." She typed back. "What have you determined about the number of individuals inside? I need to either draw someone out or have security enter so I can retrieve the code from the panel." Deka stayed close to the shadow cast by one of the station's interior struts. It wouldn't be long before the alarms were discovered to be false.

He smiled to himself. Or I could just open the door and activate one of the maintenance pods as a distraction. What do you think?

I think I would like your head served on the historical platter is what she thought. Instead she said, "Do it and don't forget to check all active security feeds and delete the files immediately."

Yes ma'am. He typed then his fingers went to the controls and flashed to the security feed. He also activated the pod.

He sent Rekalan a text message that the way was clear and to door unlocked for her to retrieve the information. Just as he sent he could feel hot air on the back of his neck. He turned and there as Chief Tahlandi again. "How can I help you chief?"

Alarms blared and voices shouted. A team of Marines ran by her, making it necessary to fall back further. When they were gone, Deka noticed the hangar's security pad no longer flashed, awaiting an entry code. With a furtive glance at the security equipment, she touched the button for entry and slipped inside the door. She grinned as she watched several guards chasing a maintenance pod that seemed to have sentient and malicious intent. She was able to maneuver her way to the port at the end of the bay and with no guard in sight, finally board the mysterious ship. She set her tricorder for visual record and linked it with Lang's padd. She hoped this ship focused on it's mission and didn't consider internal security a priority.
