His tactical console lights up, indicating an incomming transmission. He taps it, reading the information then reports to Marine Captain Dorius
"Ma'am, We're being hailed by a Vulcan Transport ship. They say they are ready to transport the Liason Officer in 15 minutes. Shall I inform Colonel Allen as well as send an acknowledgement?"
He waited for a response

---The following is a joint post written by myself and Major Iverson---
As she outlined the exercises the marines were performing he couldn't help but smile a bit wider. It appeared she had covered almost all the bases. "There's no such thing as acceptable losses Major, and if your marines don't hate you you're not doing your job. I remember when I first took over as Air Group Commander for the 94th I had a nugget by the name of Bently, couldn't get a target lock to save his life. Long story short I left him in the simulator for 3 days straight, he hated me for it, but in the end he got was able to obtain a target lock quicker than most of the vets."
She looked at him, when he said no such thing as acceptable losses. "You can't think everyone is coming back, so based on known facts you use the formula. To me if it says say 1o, I work harder to make it less then that." "Normally, my Marines like me and that’s good. They work harder when they do. And know when I ride them its for a da*n good reason. They are a good bunch. I haven't been here that long, and since I have been here they have improved."
"Losses are a part of the job, there's no denying that. I'm just saying that if you aim for perfection your actual losses are going to be far less than what the formula deems acceptable. That being said, I'm sure they have improved under your command. The struggle is to keep that improvement a constant." After the last sentence was spoken he laced his fingers, leaned back into the chair, and resumed the conversation. "You might want to consider staging a couple of impromptu battle drills involving the EVA suits as well. Something to gauge the effects the exercises are having."
"Already planned, along with some things for endurance and maybe a few more things to make life interesting. Designing this around the unknown, so I've picked the brains of some of the members who belong to warrior races on the ship." "I don't have everything together yet. But dealing with so many unknowns makes it harder."
"Well it sounds like you've got everything under control here, so I'll leave you to your work. I'll expect daily progress reports and the best da*med group of marines in the fleet by the time we arrive at our destination." His eyes remaining focused on hers as he rose from the chair and extended his arm across the table. "Well Major it was a pleasure meeting you, and I look forward to working together. If there's anything you need just let me know."
“As it was for me. And yes they are the best." She stood and extended her hand to him. " To a long association."
"Already the best, I'll hold you to that Major." A firm handshake was given as he nodded, "To a long and pleasant association."
She remained standing until he left her office. Interesting was the only thought that came to mind.
As he left the office he reflected on how much his demeanor had changed over the past few months. Though the rough edges of his personality were still very present, he had unquestionably come a long way. Pushing those thoughts aside he forged on with the task at hand. The console informed him that First Lieutenant Roberts wasn't currently on board so he proceeded to the next name on the list, Lieutenant t'Fveik.
Moments after making the inquiry he was inside a turbolift headed for the Bridge. As fate would have it before he even set a foot on the bridge Ensign Moon announced that word had been received from the Vulcan transport ship. It would seem the rest of the senior staff would have to wait. Without pause he stepped out onto the bridge and headed for his station.

She felt the presence of Allen as he exited the ready room and came onto the bridge. Standing up, " Ensign Moon, you'll need to direct your question to Colonel Allen." smiling "Sir, we have been hailed by the Vulcan shuttle Haurok (Vulcan word for a type of bird). They have informed us they will be ready to transport the liaison officer in 15 minutes." She waited to hear his response before returning to the helm. OOC: the Vulcan words this character will be using is from the data base home.teleport.com/~vli/vlif.htm

"Thank you Captain Dorius please hail them and let them know we are prepared for the Liaison Officer.I know it is against proper protocol but we have a lot to do and not much time everyone."
"Once aboard have the Liaison Officer report to the Bridge."Tapping his Comm Badge he informed the Transporter Chief to send his apologies for not meeting her.He informed him to get her to the Quarter Master for her temporary quarters and anything else she may need.
"Everyone listen up,Major Iverson and Lt. Conner have found some interesting information. It seems the Alien Vessel has the ability to cloak so I want everyone working on how to find them.Lets work together on this,I know it makes our job a little harder but it is nothing this ship and its crew can not handle."
Tapping his Comm Badge again "Lt. Roberts keep the fighters on ready alert. We may very well be dealing with a cloaked ship.Do whatever is necessary to the fighters to enhance your abilities to to find it Allen out." Jay any word yet on the project you and Ensign Khellian are working on?"

Hearing the Colonel he powered down his Lightning."Wild Cards 1,3,and 4 stay on the launch Pad.All other Wild cards keep your fighter ready but we have a new situation.I am contacting the Engineers Roberts out."
He unstrapped himself and climbed out of his fighter taking off his helmet. He immediately got the crew chiefs working with the engineers to enhance the sensors on the fighters as much as possible.
Once they were done he called Wild Cards 1,3,and 4 off the pad and replaced them so they could be modified as well.He had an Idea. He called over his crew chief and discussed the idea about enhancing the passive sensors on two fighters.
The chief agreed it could be done and he ordered it to happen. He decided he wanted to sound this idea off someone before taking it to the Colonel or the XO.
He walked out of the hangar and made his way to the Marine deck.Once there he went to Major Iverson,s office and rang the chime.

She watched intently as the Marines went hand to hand in their EVA suites. So far she saw three doing really well while the others were having some difficulty.
"Ok Everyone take ten but stay in those suites.Sgt Kol'Rah Cpl Kinsley and Pvt Great house come here."

He nodded his confirmation towards Colonel Allen as to the information M Capt Dorius told him, then heard the Colonel's response. He spoke up as Dorius retook the Helm station
"Yes, Colonel. Sending acknowledgement that we have recieved the hail and prepared to recieve the Vulcan Liason Officer"
He sent a return hail back to the Vulcan shuttle, acknowledging then and that we are prepares to recieve the Liason officer. He'd then glance back to the Colonel as he spoke up and mentioned the alien ship is able to cloak. A brief look of surprise registered on his face but it passed. He then began tapping keys on his console, re-configuring tactical sensors to detect any cloaked vessels. Looking back to Allen, he reported
Tactical sensors are rigged to look out for any cloaked vessels, sir

"Very good Ensign Moon but keep in mind it is still going to be very difficult to spot a cloaked ship with our sensors so stay on your toes."

Hearing the chime she looked up she knew she had no appointments. Must be one the Marines she thought.
"Enter"
She saw Kelly enter and she smiled at him, gesturing to a nearby seat.
"What brings you here fly boy? Ready for some ground pounding?" She laughed and her eyes showed a playfulness not normally present.

He had a seat chuckling about her fixation at calling him Fly Boy.He realized to her that was his name from now on to her."Major I wanted to bounce an Idea of you before I took it to the XO or the Colonel."
"It occurred to me since we are dealing with a cloaked ship that some recon is going to be needed.I had my fighter and one others passive sensors enhanced by engineering. We could launch one maybe two fighters using them only on complete radio silence. If we play this right we could act like spy planes so to speak. We are small hard to detect unless we turning and burning."
"This way we could possibly pick up any traffic they might be sending out such as sensors ion trails or if we are really lucky maybe some chatter if they have their fighters deployed."
He sat back and waited for he thoughts on his plan.

She listened to, and as usual on military matters do so intently. Fully focused on him, his words, and even his tone of voice.
"Interesting. Do you know the one singel thing I have against our ships that would be used for recon. Like we have a choice, it the color of the hull plating. Ok enough for one of my pet peeves. "
She tapped on the keys of her console and called up a map of the sightings of the cloaked ship. She pointed to each one and gave him the number she assigned to each one.
"I want you to look at something. Computer connect the flickers, establish a time line for each apperance. This will take a moment, should have saved it earlier. Ah we we are."
"Notice the postioning, see a pattern drawn in space. Its one ship, of that I'm certain. How? I can't tell you not in words. But if you look at the shape when it flickers you'll see its the same one. Now notice the time line, and distance."
"It has to be a prototype it moves to slow. So if you decide to do this keep thier speed in mind and that they seem to like to stay in geometric patterns."
"Now one more thing, look here see where its positioned. I believe that is where they have set up shop so to speak for the moment. Your take on this?"

"Will do Major and I would have to get clearance to try t ant way."He looked at the position she was pointing at."Well if I were the Cappy on a slow moving prototype thats where I would sit."
Pointing,"See from here they can look and listen to what we are doing and even pick up a lot of Vulcan chatter.Plus it would give you the advantage to make repairs and defend yourself if attacked or pounce on any body that gets to close."

"Thats exactly how I see it. They have taken a strategic position gaining an advantage. But they would need it. Now we need to balance out that advantage. I think you got the way to do it."
"You need to convey this to Allen. I can go so far and well I tapped that out already. So Fly boy might be time for a hunting party. Remember the speed they use, they like to hide and have a triangular pattern established."
"What do they need or want with each position of the triangle? That Fly boy you need to tell us."

"A hunting party you say now that sounds like a plan Major.I will take this up with the Colonel and the XO if he is around." He downloading the pictures and the pattern as well as the position of the ship onto his PADD.
"You know Major you are pretty smart for a ground pounder. You sure you were never a pilot?"Chuckling playfully as he said it.
"I am going to take this up with the Colonel now.Seriously Major thanks for the advice and the intel."He gave her a salute and exited her office. As he exited he commented,"If we flush em out Major we may well depend on you if they decide to make us feel unwelcome."

She laughed. "Hey Fly boy, we are more then just muscle. Ya need a brain to stay alive out there. Never forget that. And ya might get the honor of joining us in a little exercise I got in mind. Just for the fly boy types.""
"Seriously, if you got the OK and I really think it will work you be careful out there, you hear me? And if we are needed we're ready. Trust that Lt." she winked at him then returned his salute.
Oh David, he reminds me of you. And its OK, I have finally reached that point. I will always love you David. Her eyes watered. They said time was needed how much, and when will it be OK. She wiped her eyes and got back to work.
