As always, Cordais had to resist the impulse to salute as she was dismissed. The ready room doors opened and it was only her quick reflexes that kept her from running straight into Major Aniri as she ran past and directly to the Colonel. Behind her regretably, the doors closed again on their conversation.
Before she was able to regain her station, the ship lurched into warp. There was only one reason she could think of for having to leave so quickly. She turned and watched moments later as the alien ship exploded brilliantly, filling the screen with orange and white light.
She wasn't sure why but this saddened her. Perhpaps it was because she viewed it only as a last resort, when all else had failed and it was a sad thing to think that these warriors had felt that they had no other options.

As his team was working cleaning up the mess from the battle
The ship goes to Red Alert "Damn it" he yells as he drops the derbies
He feels the ship suddenly jump to warp, then a slight tremble as the shock wave hit
He takes a deep breath Knowing the alien ship blew up, as his team goes back to work

As Major Aniri ran in and told everyone the situation, Colonel Allen told everyone to take there post. She took over OPS and made sure all available power was transfered to the shields. As she watched the alien ship explode she showed no sign of emotion and just monitored the ship's systems.

She stared straight ahead looking out the main viewer, when she saw their ship explode. She was filled with so much sadness and a true sense of loss. She understood them more then anyone on this ship could.
But there was one small comfort in all of this she had meet another ghelnoid race. It was a truly a wonderful thing to know there were others. She knew many wouldn't understand and that was as it should be.
She was holding onto her console as the shock wave hit. Then she heard both Krestra and Melvin speak to her.
"I'm alright."
She checked her monitors first on the security teams.
"Lt Saris, report in."

She was in the morgue with her team placing the dead, so they could be identified and until arrangements have been made. She heard Major Aniri's voice come from her com-badge, she Tapped her badge. Saris here Major, all decks secured....casualties report 12 Marines, 18 Security dead... 40 injured ranging from critical to mild. Her voice cracking at the end of her report, she waited for her reply.

"Understood Lt Saris. I will be down shortly to notify the families." Her antenna's drooped lower at the mention of the dead on the Tarawa. She thought, too many have paid the price for a mistake, both here and on with the others. May this or a similar mistake never happen again.
"Sir, security reporting all teams are in place, ship is secured."

She finishes tossing the alien "batteries" into the pile of tech and sees that all the stuff from the lab has been put in the pile as well. She hears her uncle on the comm.
+T+ Ceng> "I'd be glad to help out."
She grabs a repair kit and two other engineering crewmembers and a couple of her science officers and drags them to the site of one of the hull breaches.
The combat marines had already cleaned up the bodies in the area... all that was left was blood and rubble. The force field to keep atmosphere in is holding. The two engineering officers start putting inner hull plating over the hole and sealing it up. The outer hull would have to be repaired from the outside. Kyah monitors the force field strength and she and the two science officers stabalize the plasma conduit network running through this section of the ship.

"Thank you, Kyah.", Justin would reply.
Justin would monitor engineering from the bridge. His fingers cuts across the console, read what came up on his console. From the reports he was getting, he could tell that the repairs were getting done quickly that they use to.
"Reports are coming in that the breach is being repaired, sirs. The outer shell would have to be fixed. I could have a few engineers, in EVA suits, to check out the damage more, but by the looks of it, it may have to be fixed when we get to the nearest Star Base. Plama conduits are stablizing. We should have majority of the repairs done within a few hours.", he would say to both Colonel Allen and Lt.Colonel MacDougal.

As all the alien material and technology was gathered and returned, Cordais swept the ship for any remaining contaminants. It was not something that would be accomplished by simply transporting their equipment. During the battle many pieces of material, organic and inorganic, would be left behind. These needed to be found and sterilized. The fact that they could not breathe our atmosphere did not mean that bacteria or other organisms left behind would not find a way to adapt and thrive here. As she received the results of the scans, she also noted that the organics could be destroyed by ultraviolet radiation. The shards of armor, equipment, etc. would also "light up" under these conditions and could be more easily retrieved. She composed a preliminary report and sent copies to all departments.

He watched Major Aniri a few minutes as she spoke to different Marine Dept heads after she told Counselor Elbrun and himself that she was fine. He watched her antenae droop lower and lower. He wished he could help her but she said she was fine and he accepted that as truth.
He then turned his attention back to his console, revewing the sensor logs of the battle, from the beginning

Still in the morgue Vash sits next to Silks body as Red walk in and stands behind her. You ok Lt? Red asks her. In a low tone she answers him but does not look at him. I never faced death like this. I've cheated death. I've tricked my way out of death and patted myself on the back for my ingenuity. Do you know how many people I have lost under my varies commands? How many? he asked. Seventy-four, you try to rationalize it by saying for everyone of yours you save the lives of two or three or ten others. And that's how simple it is. That's how you... that's how you rationalize making the choice between the mission and the people under your command. Red did not know what to say and just stood there silent.
