It would be easier if you asked me questions. And, she smiled, yes I was a teenager once. And judging from their appearance they are between 14 and 16. At that time, our young people are still in school and developing relationship with the opposite sex. As you see basically the same.
At this age, normally there is an adherence to authority. The understanding that those with authority will guide and support them. Also lessons on the guiding principles, along with talks on the importance of fulfilling ones Senorna.
I assume you have questions and I will answer them as best I can. But keep in mind to a Romulan, there is no greater resource then another Romulan, and that our young is our future. We have fought wars over such things in the past.

Well I suppose my first question, after hearing that, is why don't you talk to them? You seem to be that role model figure that you were just mentioning, plus you're a Romulan. I can't imagine these kids would want to talk to an alien about hardships. From what you've told me in the past, Romulans don't like discussing hardships period. I can do it, I've dealt with worse. I'm just thinking that they might talk to Yhea or yourself a little more freely.
My next question; How long do you thinke they've been held here? It's more important than you'd think Ma'am, it dosent have to be specific.
I guess the only difference between your young and our young is the fact that our yourh are unusually rebellious. ::he takes a big sip of coffee, drinking almost half the cup::

I have found out how long they were held. But that is it. They were held a little more then a year. But the training and lessons they already had, lead them to forming a group, its leader and a way to escape. How long were they in that cave surviving as best they could, 8 months.
Ri'pak did not see them as a threat and left them to fend for themselves. After all they had no means to leave the planet or to send a signal. He was leaving them there with the intention of returning when he needed them.
And you are correct it is not in our nature to complain when faced with difficulties. But there are times when we must look outside ourselves and family for assistance.
Do not be deceived, our young rebel and when they do it is dealt with immediately. Misconduct is never tolerated, discipline is what holds a person together even in times of troubles.

::Grox Finishes his coffee, he puts the cup into the replicator, and without saying a word, it's filled with Beta Coffee, he takes it and sets it on his desk::
Allright Ma'am, I think that's all I need to know. I think that once these youngsters talk to me, I'll be able to find out exactly what kind of assistance that they need. With any luck, they'll become comfortable with me and tell me what you want to know without me having to coax it out of them.
I must say Ma'am, that I'm grateful of your confidence in me to handle such an internal matter, especially one with your.... well not your children, but you know what I mean. Thank you; and I'll do the best I can.

No, they are not my children. But until they have been returned to ch'Rhian they are under my protection and guidance. I will however endeavor to do what is right and expected for them and myself. I am unsure of my position with them, she sighs.
But if I am do what is right I will need to know what is and is not needed. I have the up most confidence in you and your abilities. After all your people are renowned though out the Federation as consulars.

::nods:: Yes ma'am, we are. I'll do everything i can to make them comfortable. I've always been good with teens I don't think this will be any different.
::he takes a sip of the coffee and it's too hot, looks like someone has been tweaking the patern buffers:: Ma'am, while you're in here do you want to talk about anything else? That's what I'm here for.

Perhaps another time there is far too much to be done. I am very uneasy with a traitor aboard this ship. However it is believed that no one will consider he is being transported on a non Romulan ship. But I know this crew and they are more then up to the task.
I do thank you for your offer. I shall not detain you any longer.
With that said she turns and walks to the door.

Yhea had not had a chance to meet the new counselor. His first encounter with the old one did not go so well. His curiosity was still peaked at the reason for a counselor and he hoped Ensign Grox could help him.
He stopped for a moment and rang the chime.

Yhea nodded politely and sat.Tea would be fine thank you.He thought for a moment.I mean no offense I am very curious why Federation ships have counselors.
I am trying to learn all the ways of the Federation and to be truthful your position is an enigma to me.He waited to see Ensign Grox's response.

::clears his throat:: Well It's very simple Lieutenant. The Federation employs counselors because humans have used them for centuries. Unlike Romulans, Humans and a lot of other species do not have the ability to deal with their problems swiftly and interpersonally.
On a long space voyage, many people are here without family and close friends. In that case, I'm here to listen and provide feedback. I'm also sworn to confidentiality, which means, unless you've killed someone, or are discussing mutiny with me; whatever is said in here stays in here.
I'm trained to be a problem solver. Although there are some problems that are beyond my abilities, but for the most part, I'm pretty good when it comes to problem-solving.
::Hands him a cup of tea::

::Takes the cup of tea and nods his thanks::I am beginning to understand counselor. You are a sort of guidance for much of the crew. They depend or perhaps a better word is count on you to help them in making choices about many situations.
He stops and sips his tea.My people tend to do so by asking our Riov's or Captains as you call them.Where we make decisions and stick with them they ask for advice and go from there. This is a most interesting concept.
Please if I may ask, does your problem solving seem to help crew members?By the way this is excellent tea.

Thanks Lieutenant, The Tea is Terran, It's called Earl Grey. See, In starfleet, the Captains are to maintain a certain distance from the crew. They can help in matters of duty, or proticol. But it's the first oficer whom the crew goes to with matters like that.
Each person is different, Some people take my advice and are very pleased, others Don't like it, or don't take it, and the results usually speak for themselves. I'm not here for personal satisfaction. I'm here to help the crew function beter.
