:: smirks :: Well, that's answering a question with a question isn't it? :: watches her negative reaction:: Ok, well I'm not your typical Vulcan. My mother was a very powerful empathic Betazoid. The thoughts and feelings of all those around her almost drove her insane, Soo, she asked the Vulcans if she could live on Vulcanis. She found us relaxing. After she met my father and I was born, she tried to make sure that I wasn't your 'typical Vulcan.'
However, I decided to embrace logic. She Dissaproved and taught me to use My Betazoid and Vulcan Telepathy together. My emotions are more difficult to supress because I'm very empathic, but I do my best. :: awaits a response::

It's nice to know I have some company in the non-typical Vulcan category. ::She smiles.:: I never learned Vulcan logic or mind techniques until quite recently. I grew up with my human mother and stepfather, and my half brother and sister. My sister especially is a handful. Becuase of my upbringing, I don't even try to surpress my emotions, but that causes me to empathically pick up other's emotions a lot more easily. Meditation helps with that, though.

:: nods:: Yes, for some reason I always have a stronger sense of other people's emotions then my own. I'm satisfied to say that I have never experienced a negative emotion. If that's not a good reason to supress them, I don't know what is.
Vulcan emotions are unusually strong, are you entirely Vulcan? :: sits n waits::

No, my mother was human. She always said we had to expericence negative things so that we would know and truly enjoy the good things that life has to offer. To know joy, you have to know pain. She was one of the wisest people I've ever known, but I also got my sense of humor from her. She was forever scheming up jokes. ::She smiles, remembering a particularly funny joke.::

:: nods :: My mother had quite a sense of humor as well, from what I understand. Neither me or my father truly understood it...

::She grinned briefly.:: If you ever need a tutorial in jokes, I think my sister would be persuaded to let you borrow her water gun for that purpose. I have a duty shift soon, so I must be going. It was very nice to meet you, Counselor. ::She stood to leave.::

:: Looks into His empty Coffee cup and wonders where the time went, He had a morale report to file, and he had just checked his appointment list.. there was a name on there who hasn't shown up yet. He needed to Get a hold of the rest of the senior officers for their initial appointments. They must find it a little odd having a Vulcan Counselor. And It must be odd for the Romulans to even have a Counselor.
He puts his cup into the replicator:: Extra large Vulcan Mocha :: The cup is re-filled as he takes it from the replicator and puts it back on his desk, next to the casualty reports from the Romulan Wars In the 22nd Century...:::

Having never heard of a ships counselor before his Officer exchange program he walked by the door and stopped. His curiosity had the best of him and he rang the chime. He wanted to see for himself what a counselor did for the crew exactly and why Star Fleet felt such a need for one on almost every ship in the fleet.

Yhea came in and saw the Counselor J'Den for the very first time.I am sorry to disturb you.I am just curious why some of the crew seem so apprehensive about being in Rihansu space. Our government has given its word to this ships safety. As I am sure you are aware since our word was given my people would gladly do their duty and die to protect the New York.Pardon my confusion in my culture we have no counselor's aboard ship.He stood politely waiting for a response.

Well Yhea, It's simple. Most Humans have a tendency to hold a grudge. My father saw it happen with the Kitomer accords and the Klingons. Most humans Illogically presume that, because you are a Romulan, you are somehow responsible for something that Romulans have gone to them. They're used to dealing with Romulan Senators, not Romulan soldiers. Perhaps they are unaware of how frequently the leadership in the Empire changes.
Until THEY see something to prove otherwise, they are going to keep assuming that you are somewhat responsible for the past of your people. Then, and only then, will they trust you. ::Pauses for a second:: How does that make you feel, ensign?

He raised a long eyebrow at the question,"How does that make you feel Ensign?"Taking a deep breathe;"Counselor my people have shed blood side by side with the Federation and the Klingons fighting the Dominion.I cant think of anything besides my duties to prove to them I am no monster.I have said enough thank you for your time."With that he walked out of the office and headed down the corridor.

:: watches him walk out, and says to himself :: ... But your fathers and grandfathers shed blood fighting against the federation... oh well. I should have re-phrased that. :: makes a note to have Yhea come back sometime, but doubts that he will... Goes back to his paperwork and makes a note to be less abrupt about the past with the Romulans. He knows it is illogical for the Romulans to be attempting deception, but a lot of Humans don't care about logic...:::

:: seeing as he has no more appointments before duty, J'den changes out of the gold uniform into the blue one. He puts the yellow shirt into the replicator and places it into his dresser after it comes out clean. He begins to hang paintings, 2 by a human, MC Escher, the staircase and the dragan, both black and white prints from wooden carvings. He straightens the collar on his undershirt and sits back down at his desk. he taps his console and looks at his appointment list... curious as to why several senior officers still haven't stopped by for their initial appointments...:::
