He entered his office looking around.Except for a couple of plants Lexi had kept it as it was.Walking to the replicator he got a hot cup of coffee then walked to the desk.
Taking a seat,"Computer I need the last logs and reports from Colonel Lexi Kaine go back 6 days."He began going over his desk console drinking his coffee and looking for anything out of the norm Lexi might have found.If it was then it very well could be in this.

As he poured through all of Lexi's reports and logs he did not see anything that jumped out or red flagged in his mind.Taking a big gulp of his coffee to keep his energy levels up.
"Computer I need all information you have on a Governor George Tripitz."Again nothing really stood out.Age 44 born on Earth went to Harvard business school.Held several small offices in Earth Government then came to the colony.
Grumbling out of frustration he went back to Lexi's logs he had the feeling he was missing something but what?

As he went through all of Lexi's files and reports he finally came to something of interest.A freighter the USS Inca picked up part of a transmission from the planet.
The partial transmission was as the following."May--------Lati--------------------Pickup in --------------ays.Your sh-----and weapo---------------Da------------oug out.
She received the partial transmission from the Captain of the Inca one week ago.Captain Jillian Carter sent it directly to Colonel Kaine in her office.The way it was worded she knew Captain Carter.The next strange bit of Intel on this report was the Inca had exploded only five light years from the planet.Official reports cited reactor breach.All 100 crew were dead.It happened only 6 days ago.
Tapping his COMM Badge."Hood Aniri I need you in my office as of now Allen out."

He kept looking at the report from the Inca.Why was it directed to Colonel Kaine's office?The computer showed it was sent directly there not transfered from the OPS station.
He sat there going over every scenario that could explain what had occurred and why.He remembered Jay telling him her first guess would be the colony was hiding something.Her second guess was somebody out to get Lexi.
Lexi was a great and trustworthy CO.So she would not be doing anything out of the norm unless she had good reason.What if Jay was correct on both accounts?What if the colony was hiding something and someone in that ring was out to get her as well?
Shaking his head he waited for Jay and Hood to come and start sorting this out.

"Have a seat you two,computer lower the climate control by ten degrees Celsius."He had noticed Jay had always raised the temperature for them as they entered her office he could at least return the favor.
He slid both of them the partial communications on DATA PADDS.He explained to them how the transmission came straight to Lexi's office and was not directed through OPS.
"Jay I think two of your scenario's may be happening at the same time.This colony is hiding something and I think someone set Lexi up.Thats my take on the situation I would like to hear yours and how this might change plans to rescue her."

He sits down and takes the Data PADD and reads partial communications, then looks back to the Col
I think it could be Commodore Ruiz, I have no Prof of this, but we did a mission involving Pirates, were order to leave but we stayed and defend the Colony.
Three days latter he should after some Klingon's aided us, are next mission was sent by him we were to meet the U.S.S IRWIN at 00315/22970 mark 816.83 we did Captain Blake said we were to meet Ruiz's ship the U.S.S. Phoenix.
were given the coordinates we followed this planet was along the way, when she needed medical help we stopped.
Ruiz seems to always be around, again I have no prof Sir

"Ralph thats a big accusation you are putting out there even if you have no proof telling me that a Commodore might be involved is a very touchy area to start nosing around."
Jay then spoke up he watched her as she explained the code then began pacing the office speaking Andorian in an apparent response to the coded message.While she was doing this he looked closely at the map Sandy had provided.He inwardly cringed at how close everything was crammed together.If this mission came to street fighting it would be a very tough one indeed.
Finally Jay gave them the message."Well I have checked out Mayor Tripitz.He is 42 born in Rhode Island Earth.He held several minor political offices and then three years ago came all the way out here to get elected Mayor.Jay you and Ralph check out all you can find on the Crimson Brigade and I will have Melvin and Zarlena keep a very close eye on ships traffic."
"I am sorry if I broke up your rescue mission plans but you needed to see this message and the background it can only help you plan out better.Now we all have work to do lets get on it."Standing he motioned with his arm that all were heading out of his office and getting back to the orders he had issued.
As they headed out of the office toward the Bridge,"Don't worry Ralph if the Commodore is involved the trail will lead to him.I have not forgot or dismissed your thoughts.Lets go with what we have and see what happens."

Ralph was thinking about the Crimson Brigade when the Col said "I am sorry if I broke up your rescue mission plans but you needed to see this message and the background it can only help you plan out better.Now we all have work to do lets get on it." the Col stood and motioned with his arm that all were heading out of his office and getting back to the orders he had issued.
He was heading out of the office when the Col said "Don't worry Ralph if the Commodore is involved the trail will lead to him.I have not forgot or dismissed your thoughts.Lets go with what we have and see what happens." He turned to the Col Yes Sir
He knew the Col was right,and he should hope the Commandant wasn't involved in this, but he was hoping he was

She took the seat offered and cleared her throat. "Sir as you know Iverson and I have an unusual friendship hard to explain and for us probably harder to understand. Anyways one night we went out celebrating."
"She was on Andor, looking at our facility in the northern wastelands. I was in the IG. Their was teasing, drinking. But then the night before she was to leave. I let my guard down and for the first time looked at and treated a pink skin like one of our own, and she did the same with the blue skins."
"Then she started talking about David and her engagement. We celebrated. Got very drunk, we devised a code in case one of us ever needed the other. And this is the basis for that code."
"Here is her message as I received it:
Jay, well maybe this is not just looking for my cousin after all. Seems the mining operation is larger then we expected. In addition there is a cave system near by. If they have tri, and gold in large enough qualities. We'll see. Also the cave interest me it could have artifacts and nothing would make Johnson happier.
We need another day hot on the trail of a gut feeling. Tell Tim to wait or else."
"Sir, Johnson would be you. Tim is a code name for a lover, boy friend, husband whatever would be needed. Piecing her first and last message together Tim is a lover. So if Tim shows up and so far hes not needed, he would need to play that part. Saying Tim better wait is her way of saying, she needs more time. She must have found something."
"We need an ore or metal that starts with Tri but something rare and not anything they are mining, that would make a VP of mining interested in them. We should get this to her immediately along with a rich vein of gold."
"Sir, I would give her the time. We've been on missions and operations before and when she gets a gut feeling like this shes usually right."

listens to the Major, and takes in everything she says Gold will be easy.I say some Trilithium ore, its not mined here, I think they like something thats is as dangerous as it?
He then looks at the Major and the Col We'll have to keep Tim on standby he may be needed he clasps his hands I agree sir we should give her the time she needs, I have a feeling from what Iverson is saying theirs something big going on

He looked at both of them carefully.Ralph though new to him had the right idea and he trusted Jay more than anyone on the ship.They had come to the Tarawa together and she had never led him wrong.Her advice was always dead on.
"Then we give Iverson the time she needs.Trilithium is a good idea lets go with that.Now we have to find a way to give Iverson a gold vein large enough to catch their attention.I am open for ideas on how to find the gold or the perception of gold we could easily let Iverson let them know that Artifacts INC has old survey sites that show a large gold Vein or veins.Jay you know Iversons situation better than the rest of us. so you can decide if we can bluff with both deposits or do we need a real gold vein.Make sure Iverson gets the information she needs."
He sat waiting to see if anyone had more to add.

"Like I said Ralph trilithium sounds good but I have been a ground pounder for much of my career.I can take apart and put together a phaser rifle blindfolded but I am no metallurgist lets get a second opinion."
Tapping his Comm Badge,"Lt. Doogan I need the name of a valuable mineral starting with TRI.Also be careful but scan the mine area and find the biggest gold vein you can I need a big one.I also need this information as of yesterday."
"I am not worried about the colony picking up a scan for gold.That is so specific a search they would have to be looking for it.I just hope Doogan can give us an answer fast."
