I understood it quite well. He smiled and ran his hand down her cheek. I maintain that if it were humans carry such long term grudges your people would call us primitive and savage. If there are certain Romulans who wish to again embrace your philosophy of logic then why hold against them something that their ancestors did several Melania ago?

" The disadvantage to having a long life span is that sometimes it take decades to forget grudges. If your people would live as long as mine they may not be where they are at now. And for the record my great grandfather was a Ro...." She let her emotions get the better of her she remained silent.

He pulls her close without thinking. Its because of those long lifespans and close ties that its time for your people to let the past be the past.

She looks into his eye's. " It is easy for others to say that when it is not there people that are effected. If I may pose a hypothetical scenario, Say the Nazi Germany from 1939 they left earth found other races to join with to keep there ideals alive. Then now the present day wish to rejoin humanity would your home world welcome them back or would they be cautious?"

I don't believe your analogy fits for the question you pose. He paused to think for a moment. But to answer your question, I would say yes. Remember that when the war was over with the Germans the world did not abandon them, they helped them to rebuild their nations. The same was done with the Japanese and subsequently each country flourished. At the core you both are linked. I'm not saying that Nazi's or Romulans are inherently good or bad, but not all Germans agreed with the Nazi philosophy and some of them even aided the Jews. So if some Romulans have always believed in the Vulcan way why hold the past against them.

"If I recall only half of Germany flourished and was split into east and west. I know eventually it was unified but for a time it was split and that is something my people wish to avoid. Vulcan is unified we do not wish to see it split. That is why I do my duty for my people."

But it wasn't split by the choice of the people. He pointed out. It was split for political reasons and half the country was seized against its will. That is hardly the case on vulcan. No, this is a similar situation the first time the Federation made overtures to Qo'nos for peace and there were a faction of humans that tried to create a coo to stop it. This is a situation of people not being able to embrace change, but Winter change happens every day. After all, did you ever think you would bond with someone and a human of all someones? Face it love, these things happen and we have to adapt to them. Such is the way of the corps.

"I can accept it, but as a soldier I am obligated to protect my people as my superiors see fit. I may not agree but it is what the high command has ordered....There are some that agree with Ambassador Spock but not enough to effect change in high command."

So we finally get to the heart of it. He smiles and kisses her on the forehead. You are conflicted. Part of you agrees that they need a chance, but the soldier in you obeys orders. That I can understand. He pushes her down on his desk. Sometimes even a soldier much follow their heart and their conscience, yours lead you to me. He let his lips dance across the surface of her teasing then kissed her hard.

She looked at him and raised an eyebrow. " If we get married on the ship it will be official on both our worlds. The only problem would be not having our family's present."

And I'm saying that our families will get over it. He smiled kissing her again. I want the world to know you are mine and I'm yours. Besides, if we wait till we both have time we'll be retiring.
