“Then you must be on good behavior either that or immune to it because of your training.” With the meal now finished she went about clearing the table off as if it were natural to have him there. “I hope you enjoyed the meal. Is there anything you would like such as a desert of some sort or an after dinner drink?”

"No, " He stood up to clear the table. "I think I've imposed on you enough. However, if you want a tour of the ship or just to talk or ask questions feel free to find me.

“If you were being an irritation I would have let you know by now.” She was putting the dishes into the replicator to be recycled with his assistance. They were working as a team and to her it was as if they were doing this for years that’s how natural it felt. “However, I understand if you are anxious to return to your quarters. Just know you have a place here as well to be safe in and to be surrounded by friends should you ever need it.” She then looked at the wall where ship’s time was kept. “Hopefully, by now Testra is asleep so he doesn’t feel the need to come over and protect me. Such a formal position doesn’t seem right when I’m supposed to be just another officer on this ship.” She smiled a bit and continued with the clean up extending her hand to him to let him know she could take the dishes from him that he brought over to recycle into the replicator.

I understand his position. He laughed briefly and handed her the load. I had to transition fast when I was first assigned here. I went from a junior officer trying to find his way to Executive Officer in less than two years. Its a Corps thing, you go where needed. 'Improvise, adapt, overcome" He said in mock rhetoric. You don't have long to figure out one job before you're give another.

“Might be why we’ve settled our differences to be allies right now; the realization that we share a lot of the same ideals and expectations for our people when they agree to be in service.” She put the dishes in the replicator to recycle them and then looked past him to the table to make sure that everything was cleared. “But we adapt those of us in service, to what is asked of us and that is all we can do. You’ve done well in that respect because I would have never suspected you were anything but this ships first officer.”

"I"ll take that as a compliment." He smiled. "However, I couldn't say the same about you. You never fooled me for an instant. I suspected high ranking official. Someone more comfortable with giving orders than receiving them."

She nodded and smiled a bit, “Good glad to hear my persona hasn’t changed. It’s not my intention to hide who I was despite who I am being asked to be now. We Kovals do not take orders well from others when we’re use to being the ones giving them or issuing decrees on behalf of the Empire, and my children they will learn this from their uncle and not me due to what I’ve been called to do here.” She turned away from the replicator to look at him and study him almost for a moment before continuing. “It wasn’t safe here for them was the reason why they were taken from me by my uncle’s guards to go back to the homeworld, and why I am alone here.”

"It must be hard to be separated from your children." He paused almost lost in thought. "My mate and I were working on our fist child when she was killed." He lowered his eyes as if he could feel the psychic backlash of her death as if it had just happened. He could feel the absence of her and his child. "Anyway, I don't know if I could do it."

“You can’t do what?” She didn’t want to disturb his thinking on the matter of his mate and child even though they were unjustly taken from him. Something deep down inside of her was letting her know he was attempting to cope with it on a level he’s never done before.

"Be separated from my child." He finally said. "I would want my child next to me at all times. That the only time I would feel they were safe"

She nodded, “Even though I trust my uncle and his intentions it does wear on me not to have them close by me. Especially when they’re only a year old both of them, and I just got the daily update on their progress…they asked for me.” Smiling a bit she looked at the floor before looking back at him. “But it is for the best that they are with my uncle on the homeworld, protected, and cared for by family. My work is here and that’s where I’m going to keep my focus on.”

Is that all you'll be focusing on? He said playfully. "Work?"

She smiled a bit and folded her arms across her chest giving him a cryptic answer, “Wouldn’t you like to know.” Moving towards the couch she went to sit down on it hoping he would follow her lead and sit with her since they were obviously still in the throes of conversation. “Perhaps you already do.

He followed her prompt and sat down. "I guess I'm having drinks after all." He smiled. "So what do Romulans do for entertainment when they are off duty?"

“Depends on the person really as to what they do in their off duty time. Spending time with family takes priority over everything else. Socializing and personal activities then are a secondary activity that we engage in.” She put one leg over the other as she sat down and turned to face him to speak to him on the matter keeping her hands in her lap.
