He nodded in agreement when Arron had said that "our Gidget is much prettier" "That she is" he said, then thought of Sara
He turned toward the Governor when he informed him "Oh and Troy, you mentioned a couple times about the vehicles we'll have. On the way to the next site I'll show you the manifest of the vehicles We're bringing. I helped pick most of them out. We'll have plenty of toys for you."
"Ok, Awesome." He said with a smile "These 'toys' of mine is going to help ferry people around, get them where they need to go and get thing shipped to various places" He glanced toward Skye "Your animals that you raise and/or gets turned into food and the crops that Sara and the other farmer's grow"
It was his turned to look as puzzled as the doctor had mere moments ago, then he laughed "Sorry, I never watched the movie(s) or the TV show" he said with a glance back to Arron
He then made a mental note to look up the movie and watch himself, with Sara at his side, if she wanted to watch it with him
He then added "I can't wait to see the other sites too. If they're as appealing as this one, it's gonna be hard to choose which one to settle"

Back post She woke up before the computer called them. She quietly got up and left the shuttle. Taking a deep breath of the salt air she noticed it was saltier then back home. Could it that it was because of all the time she spent breathing recycled air? She went back into the shuttle getting out one of her kits she had with her.
She walked down to the shore line and put in a couple of vials. In one she checked the salt content of the water. This test was preliminary and more extensive testing would be need to be done. The Earths oceans were 3.5% saline content. This test revealed it was 3.87% which is within human tolerance. The saltiest earth water was 40%, found in the Red Sea and in the Persian Gulf, still allowing for life in the waters and for the fish to be used for human consumption. She kept one vial to give to show the doctor along with the one she used for the test.
She heard a noise to her left and walked in that direction. She then caught a movement and saw it was possibility an amphibian? It was still a little dark so her eyes might be playing tricks on her. She took a few more steps and whatever it was scurried into some sand grass. Or what she thought was sand grass. She knelt on the sand and watched hoping it would move.
After 10 minutes she heard some noise behind her, knowing it was the other colonist she walked back to the shuttle.
Current post
"Good Morning to ya. Here Doctor I have a vial of the salt water here. My primarily test revealed its slightly saltier then on earth. And I think I saw some type of amphibian creature over there in the thick patch of sand grass or what I'm calling it now. The creature made no move toward me."
"I can't wait to get in that forest there for a look see concerning possible native food sources." she smiled at them.
"How did everyone sleep?"
She heard the talk about surfing and smiled, "I've never done that myself. Maybe if we settle here I'll learn how."

"Hello, Skye. Could you please make sure I get a copy of that report on the water? As Governor, I get the pleasure of reading everything. I have my own people to answer to."
He brought out a tricorder and activated it. "There seems to be a good bit of indigenous life in the vicinity. It stands to reason that they're afraid of us."
He thought a moment. "What if we left out some food or something and left the area. Maybe we can get a clear picture of one the local life forms."
He had told his superiors that would try to get as many pictures of indigenous life as he could on the first run out. The Dept of Zoology was anxious to see something.
"All this talk of surfing reminds me of one time I visited Stratos. Some of the natives there do something similar but their boards have antigravs, and they "surf" a few kilometers above the surface. I didn't quite have the nerve for that. I just did it over the city, where if I fell, there was something to land on. Trying it on the water sounds a little less stressful to me." He smiled.

He saw Hitomi blush ans squirm a little as she said she'll have to watch the Movie "Maybe we can have a movie night once we settle the planet" he replies
He listens to the others "I sleep well Skye, did you sleep well?" he looks around "If we settle the ocean sites I can build surfboards for all who want to learn" he smiles

Hitomi giggled a bit, relaxing as her talk of surfing seemed to have both spread and taken the spotlight off of her. A glance to Sky and her findings flushed out the cobwebs from her internal gears as she thought about what it meant.
"we may have to up our water intake when it comes to eating the local flora and fauna. life on earth generally have the same salt ratio as the oceans, here I am sure we will find the same, so they will be slightly saltier. this could also be bad for people with weakened hearts and the rare case of high blood pressure."

She looked at the doctor as she spoke of the saline concentration in the ocean water.
"I agree Doctor, with the increased fresh water intake to balance the increased amount of saline it should do the trick. It shouldn't pose too much of a problem considering its slightly less then the Persian and Red Sea region back home, maybe I should start saying back on Earth."
"Of course Governor, as soon as I finish a few more things here I'll have that report for yer. As to the wild life I will be doing what little I can in the short time we have. One day is not that much. Even with the day being 28 hours."
"I'll be leaving you to talk of surfing and such while I venture into the forest fer a bit to have a look see. I'll have my phaser with me. I canna wait to see what there." She smiled.

Hitomi smiled as she heard Skye agree with her initial assessment of a minor difficulty they may face. Out of all the known species, Humans tended to be the most adaptable. While some had bodies that were quicker to take to a new environment, and others had minds open enough to accept anything, it was the terran stock humans that seemed to have the best combination of phycial and mental adaptability that allowed them to survive most anywhere there was breathable air, food, and water.
"Please be careful, Sky." her smile turned amused, yet worried, "I am in no mood to open up shop right now."

As he listens to them talk he looks at Skye "I will accompany you, right now we should stay in pairs encase of injury" he says "I can look for the best site to start the colony here if picked"

Looking at the doctor she smiled, "Ach, Doctor I've no mind to be yer first on this new home of ours. I'll bring yer back a present. And then remind yer of it when I need your services." She started laughing knowing she never would do that.
"Very well Arron if you want to come, I suggest you get moving." She smiled at him, also wishing she could relax more.

With Skye and Arron heading off to look at the local plant and wildlife, Hitomi decided that now was as good as any to scan the area for anything that might ail them. Going back to the shuttle she pulled out the larger sensor array they had brought with them and struggled to pull it out into the sand. It was quite a bit heavier than she had expected when not on the smooth surface of the shuttle's deck.
"um.. help?"

Ravin stepped up and helped the Dr with the Equipment.
Where do you want it? I got it, Doc. Don't strain yourself."

Pete looked around the ground was somewhat flat which tactically would make it easy to attack in mass, but the trees would make good cover and allow him to hide snipers in them. It had plusses and minuses but he would know more when he saw the next site.

Where do you want it? I got it, Doc. Don't strain yourself." "Just away from the shuttle and eveyone else." She pointed off some from the area they had landed at. "I think getting a fill bio scan of the area is the first step in understanding what I may be up against medically." Hitomi glanced around the barren beach, while not 'clean' it debris was entirely natural. Stones, leaves, seaweed, shells, driftwood, and the occasional dead animal that had washed up. Neither Terra or Alpha Centauri were this unspoiled anymore. It was hard to find an unspoiled spot anywhere with all the billions of beings spread throughout the galaxy. It actually made her a little sad to think she was spoiling this place just by being on it.

"I agree, Doctor. That sounds very wise. One thing I was thinking about," He began as he placed the equipment where it belonged, "I'm sure your familiar with plants such as what Earth calls 'Poison Ivy and Poison Sumac.' My planet has something similar, the suna vine, Qonos has a very nasty variety as well, of plants that can cause skin irritations. I was wondering if you could run a scan and correlate it with known data and see if maybe we can locate some of that right away.
We might be able to find something. Unfortunately with things like this, we're going to find out the hard way, so some sanitary precautions should be in order at first. What do you think?"
