She nodded in agreeance. It would always be a good thing to know what to touch and what not to. Even now, there was a good chance all of them were going to be mildly sick as their immune system began fighting all the foreign 'Contagions' that they had been beathing and standing on. At home they called it 'Centauri fever' and it usually only lasted a day or two with a mild low grade fever for the tourists that first stepped foot upon their world.
"I doubt we can get those kinds of scan done in the short time we are due here, Ravin." She sort of frowned a bit as she thought about it. "but I am sure that with a few days at our disposal, we can get a good background scan done."
A quick glance across the beach and towards the mainland brought that frown to a smile as she realised the obvious. "We have several of those sensor packs. Maybe we can leave them here to record and transmit what they find?"

"That's a great idea, Dr. I see no reason why we couldn't do that. It might also get us some close ups of some of the indigenous life. We may be able to get a couple bioscans on whatever lives around here.
ANd who knows? Maybe we'll even scan some of the indigenous plants that could be perfectly edible."
He looked to see where the best places were to put the scanners.
"I wonder" He started again What the tides are going to be like, considering the size and proximity of that moon."

She looked around after Ravin mention the tides. All along the rough sand she could see where the debris was at it's worst. It made a distinct line between the ocean and the treeline.
"I am no oceanographer.. but I am going to say that the tides do not usually go beyond the line the reeds and junk made." She pointed to where the lighter flotsom had stopped. "it still gives us some beach to set up the sensors."

"Alright, that sounds reasonable" he said, smiling.
"Just tell me where you want me to set them out."

She picked up her back pack slingling it over her shoulder then turning she walked the path into the forest. She entered the forest and noticed how alive it was with the natural sounds of woods. As they ventured further, there was the humming of insects, calls of various birds, and a sound that reminded her of a large feline.
The sound of a large predator was a good sign it indicated the presense of prey in the area. She climbed a tree a few feet and using field glasses took a look see. She got down and, "Arron over there a short walk is some fresh water. I think we should look it over." She started to walk in the general direction

He follows Skye into the forest it was alive with sounds, he heard a large animal he took as large Cat
He watched her climb at a tree then look around, he examined the tree while she was up in it, she then got down "Arron over there a short walk is some fresh water. I think we should look it over." he followed her to it
"These trees are very strong and will make good building material" he then spots some type of fruit hanging on a tree "Skye look at that over their it looks like a fruit tree" he points to a tree away from the path

She looked at where he was pointing. "Aye, its a lovely looking fruit. Sort of like an apple in shape but it might take some getting used to, having it in light blue." she laughed. Then picked one off the tree, "Remember I said I would take something back with me for the doctor? Maybe we can find something for the governor."
They walked the few remaining feet to the pond of fresh water. She placed a vial in the pond and then took a PH test. The PH value was 7 which was perfect showing no signs of any pollution. This water was truly pristine. She took her tricorder out and then tested for harmful components for humans and for the governor. It was exactly what she suspected perfect. But still a more in depth look was needed. It was tempting not to drink the water, but is better to err on the side of caution.

"At least we bake pies if its eatable" he looks at the fruit and picks one then cuts it open "Light Blue on the out side and white on the in side" he smells it as they walk to the water "Has an apple smell and something else I can't quite place" he says
He watches Skye test the water, the pond was so clear you could see the bottom as he looked at the water a fish swam by, it was completely flat but a fish "Theirs fish in the Pond"

She stood up and then smelled the what seemed to be an apple. "It certainly has a pleasant smell to it. Now dun be eating it until I can do a few test on it."
She looked at the swimming fish, "Aye it flat like a flounder." she then saw several others. "Come lets walk on maybe we can see some animals. They would be anxious and not willing to come out in the open. So we may not see any at all."

He looks at the apple "I will not eat it" he laughs "Well have to catch one later to test it" he says as he followers her hoping to see more animals
"I can hear the animals asking what in the blue blazes are those things" he laughs
"If this site is picked this area be great to start the colony close to fresh water as well as Salt water"

"Alright, that sounds reasonable" he said, smiling. "Just tell me where you want me to set them out." "hmmmmmm..." Hitomi lapsed into thinking phase, a curious little habit of hers that many of her classmates found both endearing and hard to understand. It just meant that she was going through every scenerio she could think of in her head. Some of them quite outlandish. While it was possible a tsunami could hit the area, it would be the least of their problems if they lost the sensor gear to it. "How about over there?" She pointed to an area where the sand of the beach formed a small 'cove' into the forested area. "that looks close enough to carry it, but far enough from where we landed and contaiminated the beach." "What do you think?"

He looked at the area. "Seems as good a place as any to leave them. And Doctor, contaminated is such a strong word. It isn't as if we left an oil spill off the coast, or anything."
He grinned.

"No..." She pondered his words a moment, "I suppose not. But this world is no longer pristine because of us. Even breathing the air changes it beyond what it was." Hitomi sighed and looked around the beach some. "Maybe it just sounds silly, but it seems a shame to ruin this world with our presence."

"Is that how you feel about it? You think that our being here is ruining this world?"
He began to place the sensor pads according to the Doctor's wishes.
"If I remember my history, Hitomi san, The same was said about the first colony on Alpha C. and others after that. Before many of our planets were warp capable, there were environmental issues, but Doctor, everything we're using is designed to be benign to the eco system here."
Putting another Pad down, he began to feel the warmth of the sunlight.
"Your point is a valid one, Dr. But there are 2 sides to every coin. Suppose we didn't colonize this planet, and left it to its own. And then suppose another race came along and simply tore the planet up for resources. Sound familiar? Many races colonize, Hitome san, but not all of them take the care and precautions we do. Did you ever consider that our being here could be the least possible evil for this world?"
He stopped a moment.
"This is what's been bothering you hasn't it? That little episode of yours back there had nothing to do with the flight."
He understood how she was feeling. This undertaking was a big step and a big chenge for all of them, especially him. This is always something to be expected.
"If you want to talk about it, it's ok."

They walked a little further on the way they found a some bushes and a flurry of activity as birds flew before them from the bush. "I think we interrupted their breakfast." she laughed softly.
A small movement in the bush caught her attention, a mammal with fur that was jet black with an orange stripe running down its head and neck came out and looked at them. It stood on its hind legs sniffing the air. Then it made a noise between a chirping and clicking. It then grabbed broken branch with berries placing it in its mouth it ran off. Skye couldn't help but laugh. "Well we have a fair idea that those are good." She reached down and picked up a twig that had berries on it and placed in her back pack carefully making sure they would not crush.
Twenty minutes later they reached a clearing with a stream running though it. "Probably feeds into the pond we found. Lets look around the clearing. Can you get measurements of it? I think its large enough for a base camp, and a small collective farm. I was thinking since we can't be sure of the time of year it is it maybe near harvest or past. A small collective farm for the first year would give us our best chance."
She climbed a nearby tree, and saw a more forest but with a small sized mountain or large hill. She got down then looked a the time. "Well was I right in the size?"
