He nods, then relaxes his stance. This time, he smirks outwardly on the name Ralph
"Pleased to meet you, Ralph" He heard his question "How long have you been posted to the Tarawa" and he thought for a moment "I would say I've been here almost 2 years, si.. Ralph and i've just recently been promoted to Lt Jg"
He then waited to see Raph's, or Sam's, reaction. He could feel the nervousness coming from Sam and it mirrored his own

Ralph looks at Moon Congratulations on your promotion, almost 2 years you must know this ship quit well he says. he then looks at Sam "Sam it is he says
He looks back at Moon, as he seen his Smirk toward his name If Ralph is a funny name to you, you can call me Snake he says with a smile

Ralph reaches back and grabs his RC taking a drink, then looking at Sam Do you think my name is funny as well? he asks her

He nods, as Hall congratulated him on his recent promotion "Thank you, Ralph. I like to think I know the ship pretty well. I've seen the comings and goings of many a people"
"Ralph is a funny name but it think it is also a good solid name. It shows a strength of character" especially with the one that has the name and be willing to endure the many teasings that go with the name but he didn't verbalize that "Snake, as well"

Sam looks at him"No I don't Sir" she says, as she stats getting nervous again "You called snake because of your tattoos?" she asks him

He smiles at Sam Sort of he says, he looks back at Moon So you think my name is Funny do you? he asks with displeasure showing in his eyes, as he thinks I'll have some fun

His nervousness went up a notch as he felt the displeasure coming from the new First Officer. ~ Great going, Moon. Insult the Colonel when you first meet him ~ he thought then mentally kicked himself
"Well, um, it just sounds funny.. in a good way and not many people so eloquently and humourously named"
He was beginning to metaphorically sweat bullets, as the human expression went

Looking at Moon I see and Melvin is not a funny name? he asks him, then his voice raise Do you often find your Superior Officers names so funny? he asks him

He heard Hall raise his voice in anger but then really sensed he wasn't all that angry and then the worry coming from Sam, worried that he's getting himself in trouble, which he is for sticking his foot in his mouth
"I'm sure Melvin is as funny a name to you as Ralph is to me, sir but I think they are both equally good names and it all depends on what my commanding officer's name is whether I think of it as amusing or not. Of course, whether if it is amusing or not, it is still a good name, sir. I mean no disrespect" As he heard Sam say coming to his defense
He spoke the truth even though it may get him into more trouble. He made a mental note to thank Sam later for coming to his defense, however futile that might be

Looking at Moon No I don't think Melvin is a funny name he says as he turns to Sam He is making Fun of my Name, he as went far beyond disrespectful he Snaps at her.

His eyes narrowed slightly as the Colonel turned to Sam and snapped at her, making her fear spike
"Speaking of disrespectful, sir, there was no need to be rude to Sam. She was merely coming to my defense cause she thought you were angry over my thinking your name was funny. In fact, I know that you're not all that mad. You are merely trying to have a little fun and trying to intimidate myself and Sam. It may work for Sam but for me, I am not fooled"
He looked at Sam, trying to re-assure her that everything is alright

Hearing Sam reply to him he hears the fear in her voice, then he hears Moon's reply.
As he looks at at Sam Sam I'm sorry I was just kidding with Moon he says. I was being a fool, please accept my apology I went to far he says, then his eyes widen as he looks at Sam Your Boyfriend is a Beatzoid? he asks her

His eyes widen in surprise as he spoke to Sam apologizing but what lifted his surprise is that he called him Sam's Boyfriend
"Not to interrupt, but Yes, I am a Betazoid and no, I am not Sam's boyfriend. Not that I wouldn't enjoy that pleasure. However, I already have my eyes and heart set on someone on this ship"
He gets a mental image of Zarlena and smiles inwardly
