"I enjoy music listening to it and playing it. Even though its been years since I've played I still enjoy listening to instermental music. Just not anything extreamly high pitch reminds me of some bad times.
I like to go and meditate on a hill or mountain in the holo deck from time to time.
I go to the range and pratice both with hand phasor and the rifle. Would be rather embarissing to have a tactical officer that doesn't know or forgot how to use a weapon.
Then there is my traning program for self defence I like to use. Even though the computer has been a bit slow lately on response time on that one.
There are a few places I like to go but don't have the time to leave the ship and go walk around in them or just really haven't been there before and desided to try the holo version out before planning next leave to go there, or rather consider it.
Other then that I read alot in my room and the back exserizes and brace does it. I also have to periodically put aloe on my burn marks so they don't feel like I'm on fire."
She couldn't beleive that she was telling him all of this but he was kind enough to open up to her so she figured that it couldn't hurt to tell him her insterests. After all she did agree that he was just another man off duty not the second in command of the ship or Commander.

He would nod as he listened to her talk about things she likes, and an idea hits him.
"Perhaps I can help you get back into playing music. I find I greatly enjoy it. I have found that I love to share my passion for music with others, through various performing avenues. However, I can honestly say that I've never performed for an audience of one before."
He would think on the meditation pursuits, and though he had tried several times, he never could get any benefit from it, as he would always get interrupted before he could get very far.
He then thought about the target practice, and realized he'd gotten a bit lax over the last couple of years with some of the weapons that he was once extremely proficient with.
"Maybe we can spend some time together on the phaser range sometime. I could use some retraining with the compression rifles and the more advanced weapons."
He would lean back a bit, and watch her, wondering what else he could learn about her.

"Perhaps I could re-train you on compression rifles and the like they do have quite a kick to them. Don't want you to have to defend yourself on the bridge and not know how to fire one of those. Plus I could give you some brush up on tactical posturing too. How to protect yourself with objects around you while fireing."
She smiled a bit.
"Besides that I would love to take leasons from you. Get back into classical music performances. I use to play the keyboard quite well before I dropted out from music. The higher pitched insturments I have to block out when emotionally on edge. Reminds me of the booms that fell on my home when I was little. "
She smiled at him in her brace she couldn't move around too much.

Listening carefully to her, he would nod at her desire to get back into music, as well as the weapon training that he knew he could benefit from.
"Classical music? I'll see if I still have a few classics in my music folder. I do have a few 'fun' pieces, like one called 'The Entertainer' and one similar to it called 'Maple Leaf Rag'.
As for the weapon training, it's been a while since I've made use of anything aside from the Type-1 and Type-2 phasers, and the Class-3 phaser rifles. I used to strongly favor the compression rifle, but when I was on leave, I didn't have access to them to keep my skills up."

"Well then we can trade. You re-teach me how to play the panio and I re-teach you compression rifle. Plus it give us an excuse to spend more time togeather."
She smiled at him and scooted back on the coutch to support her brace and back.
"That and give us time to get to know one another without feeling obligated to talk all the time."

For the first time in a LONG time, he had succeeded in letting his shields down enough to laugh at the reasoning that was presented to him.
"Oh... You're good," he barely managed to say because of laughing.
For him, to be able to laugh like this was absolutely necessary, considering the troubles he went through recently.
"You're sharper than any sword I've ever seen, and I can already tell you don't easily miss any details."
After another brief laughing spell, he would continue.
"I think we can work with that."

She smiled and had to laugh with him a bit. Telling that his guard was down around her now that made her all the more at ease with him.
"If I missed any details then what good would I be as a tactical officer? And yes I think we can work with the trade idea."
It was hard for her to laugh for any exstended period with the brace on but she did laugh a little with him. She just about said something in her native language but stopted knowing that he wouldn't be able to understand.
"There are many colors in a rainbow and I think I am just seeing them for the first time in a long while."

Laughing again as she remarked about not being a good tactical officer if she missed details, he would set his drink down and look at her.
"I understand fully. Having been a tactical officer, that is a very true statement, even more so during a crisis or combat situation."
He would shift in his chair, to lean back.

She was already leaned back into the coutch for her brace prevented any other motion but streight up and down. But she was on her side a bit to face him.
"Yes, seams like everything is a crisis for me these days. If it is not officer differances stressing me out then it is my own inability to deal with being alone. Knowing full well I was to be with someone. Would think five years after the death of your partner someone would get over being left behind, but it never leaves. That feeling of wanting to be with someone no matter how hard you hurt."

As she said that, he would get up and move to sit closer to her, understanding fully the pain she was feeling.
"I understand, in ways I don't know how to explain... It was almost four and a half years ago that I lost Brexen, and I still miss her, even though I do carry her memories, personality, and almost everything else..."
He would nod at one picture of him with an attractive, mid-20s Trill female that had fiery red hair. The picture was taken with them on Risa, after he had worked up the courage and proposed to her.
"I'm pretty sure it's somewhat similar for you, with having pictures of your betrothed... I do understand and greatly sympathize. It's not easy... But that's where close friends come into play -- to help one keep his or her head above water."

"My job kept me from thinking about it too much. I still have pictures of him and me togeather. The few times our jobs allowed us to be togeather. He asked for my hand from my parents two weeks prior to his ship going under fire and eventually being distroyed all hands on board. So to say I understand the unique pain that comes with being left behind from someone who you chose to love. I can say I can understand that to some exsent more then someone who has never gone through the loss before."
She looked at the picture of him with the fiery red hair women in her mid-20s. Then looked back at him.
"But no matter how close you might be to her thoughts and feelings you still miss her just like any other mate who doesn't have that. You have to maintain who you are and not get overwhelmed by wanting to stay with her in your mind. That struggle everyday. I can never understand but I can try my best, as your friend at the least, to help you keep yourself above the waves that threaten to carry you away. "
She put out her hand to him knowing full well that if he grabed her hand it would be cold but she didn't care. She wanted to show him that she wanted to be there for him.

He would gently take her hand in his, not minding the cold to it, knowing his own were a bit chilly. He was unsure what else to say, but he could imagine the sense of pain she felt with a relationship that was cut short, as his own was.
He could very easily sympathize with her situation, although he wasn't sure at the moment how to help console her. He figured that a window with a series of clues would help him find a way to do so.

"You have no idea how much it means to me for you to hold my hand like that. When most men from my area of the Earth wouldn't even look at me after Le's death."
She blinked a few times to hold bac the tears and contiuned her voice soft and as normal as it could be.
"I think you are the one mean to heal my wounds and perhaps in the process heal your own. At least as far as they can be healed."
She took the back brace off and put it to the side and then putting her hand back in his she laid her head on his shoulder. Letting herself really just feel for a change and not hide it.
"I don't care what the Doctor says right now about the brace. I want you to feel like you can touch me without breaking me."

Shifting his position, he would move to be sitting next to her, and wrap an arm around her gently, allowing his hand to rest on her opposite shoulder, and would give her a gentle squeeze similar to his massage work earlier.
"I hope I can help you to overcome that pain, despite our cultural differences. But I think we can overcome both our pains together."
Gently, so as not to risk hurting her, he would lightly pull her closer to him, in a hug maneuver.

She cuddled closer to him when he gently touched her and huged her softly with his arm.
"I think that our differences will make us stronger and help us mend the other that much better."
She wrapted her arms around him putting her head on his shoulder.
" I don't know why but with you I feel at peace. For the first time in a long while."
