"Colonel Hall ordered you to report to me? Sounds like he may be having a little joke at your expense, lieutenant. You report to your commanding officer, not to the counselor."

Nemi's tone was humorous. She wanted to get an idea of how well T'Leynti understood vocal intonation and the personal mannerisms of Humans.

"And please, have a seat."

Perhaps clarification is in order. I did report to Colonel Hall after our encounter he then instructed me to see the Doctor and you. I am sure no joke was intended. She sat down.

"That does sound more like him, but don't underestimate Hall's sense of humor or you might find yourself with a face full of I'danian spice pudding" She smiled recalling the recent food fight in the lounge and scanned the file in front of her.

"You applied for service on Tarawa specifically. What is it you wish to achieve here? Was there a particular reason you chose this ship?'

She raised a brow. As I try to comprehend how having a sense of humor would result in such a hostile act I will answer your question. The Tarawa was my first choice but I did apply to serve on other ship's, I wish to learn how the Marine branch of starfleet functions in space exploration. Also the Tarawa employs Marine and Navy officers I wish to observe how the Commanding officer facilitate unit cohesion.

"Unit cohesiveness is certainly an interesting subject. As you already know, there are Marine ground troops and those who are assigned regular departmental duties. Unlike those who are stationed planet-side, Fleet Marine Forces and Garrison Forces serve together onboard ship and there may be schisms between Naval and Marine personnel as well as between the Marines themselves. Those, such as me, who are assigned non-combat positions may be considered "lesser" Marines by those serving in Ground Troops." Nemi looked up. "If you choose to record some of your observations, I would be greatly interested in hearing what you think."

She looked down at the file again. It read like the perfect dossier of a young officer.

"As you've already been recently cleared and evaluated, my signature is simply a formality but Starfleet also provides this opportunity for you to tell me is there's anything you would like to question or discuss."

Not at this time counselor but I have found our conversation most enlightening. I do have a statement to make about your position, it does not make you a "lesser" Marine. On the contrary, Counseling is a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education and career goals. This is an worthy endeavor.

She stood up. I look froward to our next conversation perhaps in a more sociable venue. She waited to be dismissed.

She stood as well and nodded respectfully, indicating not a dismissal, but a mutual acknowledgment to the conclusion of the meeting.
