Crewmember First Class James Tremble entered Sickbay shortly after our away mission with swelling and lacerations to the neck, the result of combat simulations on the holodeck. Crewman Tremble is a science technician working in the astronavigation. He asked if there was a way to ensure that a scar remained. So instead of using the standard dermal regenerator I used 6 butterfly-stitches of nylon thread to hold it together. This should give him the desired scar, which will be easily removed if he ever desires. However, I am more concerned with his mental stability. His medical record indicates frequent visits to sickbay for holodeck related injuries, nothing serious and nothing that would violate the safety protocols. Yet, in the past 3 months Patient has been seen by medical personal 10 times all for injuries acquired in the holodeck.
The medical treatment is not the major concern here, these injuries are indicative of someone developing self-destructive traits and will certainly manifest elsewhere in his career and life shortly if not confronted by the Ship’s Counselor. With approval of the Medical Officer I will recommend a full mental health screening for the patient and will also recommend anger management treatment as part of his long term health program. One final note, it many become necessary to limit his time spent in the holodeck or limit the programs available to the patient, however, such determinations should be left to the Ship’s Counselor

Duty has slowed down now that the injured have recovered and the ship is on stand down for Sol holidays. This is a nice change of pace. I can use the time to review my old lecture notes and prepare a new lecture series focusing on the healing of the whole patient. I will include aspects of physical health, mental health and spiritual health as part of the series. Once finished I will present it to Star Fleet for peer review and public presentation. My goal will be to construct a reasoned argument at supports a treatment cycle that includes aspects of all three. This will include a non-religious aspect or philosophical method for those not holding to any particular metaphysical belief system.
For now I will keep this as a side interest and will remain focused largely on my duties as the Assistant Medical Officer. However, there is more than enough time to do this without hindering my performance of duties.

Sits in her office thinking about what she talked about in the Counselor’s office and agrees with the Counselor. Kwin smiles and agrees with herself that Clara will definitely make an excellent Counselor. “ I know I am not the easiest person to work with” She talks to herself out loud, “I tend to talk quickly and tend to leave anyone behind if they aren’t ready for this mind race I go through. We are lucky to have someone who can sit and allow a person to think their way through without opening her mouth. Silence is a great tool for a Counselor, particularly when working with a Counselor.” She laughs at herself knowing she is a difficult client to have.
