::Sitting down at his desk the Colonel looks over a few things and pulls out a lighter and an Onyx cigar. Turning in his chair he cuts the cigar into the waste disposal unit and lights it with the newly arrived gold engraved lighter. Sitting back in the chair the Colonel pauses for a few seconds before speaking. The words "Open log" are spoken and the computer begins to take note of his comments::
"Three weeks aboard this vessel and I am already starting to feel like I have been onboard for three years. This crew is impressing me with their sense of duty and profesionalism and also they are very personable, something not easily found where I come from. The Captain,on loan from the Romulan Star Empire is quite adapted to Federation starship command doctrine along with the customs of being around so many humans. Quite different than the Romulans I was used to dealing with during my time in the Blackwater division of the SFMC. ::The Colonel takes a slight drag on the cigar and exhales some of the smoke into the ventilation system rigged up for his personal use::
We seemed to have handed off the murder investigation to other elements of the Starfleet ::shrugs:: Fine by me. A few days ago I met with an Ambassador that we had to drop off at a hot spot within the Federation. He seemed like a very intelligent and personal individual and wish him the best of luck in his line of work. In regards to the bridge crew, they seem very skilled and look forward to seeing them when I next step on duty.
::looks over at his watch and then looks back at the row of shelves::
Other than that it is just the usual routine on a starship. Computer, close log"
::Stevenson takes another drag on his cigar as he reclines in his chair thinking back to his former days as a company commander back on the USS DeGaule, looking over his company pictures that adorn the wall, truly easier times.::

::The Colonel stands in front of the viewport beside his rack, gazing out into space leaning against a bulkhead. He is enjoying an Onyx cigar and a small glass of congac as he attepts to unwind from an eventful and trying day. He turns and puts his back against the bulkhead and mutters "open log". The computer chimes slightly indicating that it is recording::
"Well today I came as close to a Romulan vessel as I had in about three years, the last time being under different cicrumstances than now. At least this time there wasn't any shooting involved, regardless of a so called truce. I know this region of space since we used to sneak in and out of the RSU to gather long range intelligence on their Neutral Zone defense network.
::Takes a long drag on his cigar and blows the smoke out while taking a sip of his congac. Walking towards his desk he notices one of Graduation Day at the Academy so long ago. The picture displays Stevenson in Marine Corps "greens" as his two other friends,Mehring and Bassett stand to his left and right wearing the uniform of the Starfleet. The black diamonds in their class Ring's bounced light in and around the stone on that sunny day in May.::
"There is some kind of disease running through the ship that is effecting only Romulans. I am a little concerned due to the nature of this mission and the obvious fact that the CO is a Romulan. I hope to hell that she doesn't come down with anything because she is vital to this operation, wherever it might take us. I was a little tense when we stepped over the Neutral Zone and saw the RSU ships before us,usually by that time neither one of us had gotten a shot off or........ ::catches himself knowing that this is going on official record::
::Gathering his thoughts again he begins to wrap up the log:: The bridge team is good and I was hoping to run them through some battle drills in order to keep the tip of our spear ever sharp. I know eventually we will face down an enemy and am confident in our Operations officer,Ms.Greene, our Tactical officer Ms.Jaris along with the rest of the bridge staff. I also know that the Captain, when the time comes will take us out of battle intact. Computer end log...."
::With another chime the computer indicates that the log has ended. The Colonel nods at the message and proceeds to remove a black notebook from where he manifests his more personal thoughts and experiences onto paper, rather than eletronic data

::Resting against a pillow on his rack the Colonel gazes at a few personal pictures taken prior to his operations into the Neutral Zone. Puffing on a cigar and sipping from his smuggled congac he exhales some smoke and shakes his head. Tapping his Ring slightly against the glass he orders the computer to begin taking his duty log::
"It has been awhile now that we have been in the Neutral Zone,if you want to call it that anymore since this new treaty might abolish even that. It is time I suppose to leave my emotions towards the past in private or at least contained in these four walls. It was unprofessional of me to get so emotional on the bridge and expect a formal reprimand for my utter disrespect for the Captain and her fellow citizens of the RSE. It is just so damned hard to let it go........."
::Rising from his bed he tucks the wedding pictures, crew and unit photographs into a hidden spot on his desk and takes a seat, sipping at his glass::
"I wonder what my old classmates think these days of this changing era in the Federation. I know we were taught and developed under a very difficult time for the UFP and for that they produced very hard line officers who are in high level commands. Hell,I have an old classmate who is in charge of the entire West Sector of the Alpha Quadrant and many others in commands of warships of their own. It would be interesting to hear their thoughs on my situation ::shrugs slightly:: but that is a leadership challenge and I wouldn't be in this spot of command if the Captain didin't think I could handle it."
::Leans back in his leather officer chair, another "import" from his old command which has the SFMC logo on the head of the chair along with it's back. The Colonel takes a long drag on the cigar and exhales the smoke right into the ventilator::
"It seems as if the disease has been put under control and everything is going to plan. ::shrugs slightly:: It is just hard sometimes not having her around or some of my old buddies but I guess at some point one must move on no matter how hard the loss."
::Pulling out his personal notebook he begins to transcribe his thoughts onto paper as the computer closes his log::

::Sitting in his chair writing a few notes into his leather bound notebook he reclines in the chair and asks the computer to open a data recroder log for this latest mission inside the Neutral Zone.::
"Well that was one of the more unusual methods of capturing a alien needing of medical attention. What can I say,I was fed up of trying to get the guys attention and willingness to seek help. Other than that things have been a little tense with the Klingon attention towards our involvement in the Neutral Zone. The crew handled themselves well with major compliments to the bridge staff for not managing to start a large scale interstellar war"

::Twirling the stopwatch in his hand and looking over the recorded results of the readiness test the Colonel looks up at his shelf and rubs his eyes slightly. Yawning,he leans back in the chair and orders the computer to begin data recording his thoughts::
"With things progressing on a state of tension between the Alliance and the Klingon empire it was decided that while the Captain was checking in on our patients that I would run a readiness test of the crew just in case the unthinkable happens. For the most part the crew did well with good performances from all key positions.
::Looking down he scans over the loading time of the torpedo tubes and nods slightly::
"Even though this ship is built and designed for exploration and discovery, we must keep ready and watchful of conflict. The Galaxy class ship is a powerful platform and I am working on proposals with our new Alliance members to perhaps add on several upgrades to our weapons systems. Other than that things on board the ship are quiet with a wedding between our FPCO and our Doctor on board. My compliments to them and ::smirks:: I can remember when I got married so long ago.....

::Sitting down into his chair and transcribing some more personal thoughts into his leatherbound notebook the Colonel clicks his desk light to a lower setting. Lighting an Onyx cigar and turning on the small fan installed to circulate smoke out of the room he puts his pen down and rotates his chair to face the viewport and gaze out into space. Eyeing a small Romulan escort ship he orders the computer to begin data recording his voice into the log::
"Needless to say that ever since crossing into the Neutral Zone....if such a thing exists anymore considering this steadfast Alliance between the RSE and the UFP, that things have been interesting. More Romulan crew members are joining up with the New York as part as this new friendship and I am just curious to know how long it will be before Federation personnel will start commanding ships of the Romulan Imperial Navy. Regardless things are starting to pick up. On a routine patrol on board what we thought was a standard freighter a ghost from my past came back to haunt us all. Under the code prefix LOX, which was an old term for smoked salmon ::smirks:: I found listed what could potentially be one of the Federation's deadliest weapons, the Achilles Torpedo. Before I could research into the cargo bay to see if the actual torpedo was still on board or any of it's support equipment myself and the away team had to evacuate to the NY before being blown to space dust.
::Taking a long drag on the Onyx cigar the Colonel looks over to the wall and some of the pictures and books on the shelf and returns his focus back outside the viewport. ::
"I know what this torpedo can do because I have seen it's development from concept to limited production. It was intended to act as a "smart weapon" with capabilities that only the Riov and I know about since we were both present during the battle that nearly brought the RSE and UFP to all out interstellar war. After checking through my sources I do know that the Captain was present but regardless, we are working together as two organizations under the banner of peace and will fight anybody who attempts to threaten it" "On a lighter note the crew is coming together quite well but we all might be put to the test pretty soon if the people I think got away with this torpedo have it."

::Sitting on the tarmac of a local Romulan Star Empire base, the setting sun reflects against the silver elements of the SD-63 Star Hammer Space Superiority Fighter. Directly underneath the canopy states in red against the jet black of the fuselage "Colonel Magnus Stevenson, SFMC 117 Tactical Fighter Squadron." Underneath his name are the kill marks of 55 Romulan Fighters in small RSE logos and larger ones for capital starships he has destroyed. Still in his flight suit but with the canopy closed but his helmet and re-breather off he relaxes a bit inside the nerve center of the space frame and indicates to the main computer to begin taking his log"
"Who would of thought after what the Starfleet Expeditonary Force went through ten years ago that I would be sitting on the tarmac parked next to Romulan fighters and support craft on THE homeworld to the Empire. Just shows how much times can change in the grand scheme of things. I was getting pretty bored eating popcorn and smoking cigars on the bridge but lets keep that last part between us alright old girl, heh ::The Colonel pats a console inside the fighter and smirks slightly::
"It was very interesting to give some of the citizens of this world a demo of what a fighter can do when it is not being shot at or shooting at something. Hell I remember when I was last in these skies and myself and the rest of the 117th had to bail after that botched rescue attempt on a defecting Senator....and we had to take care of..... ::His voice trails off when he realizes that he might be getting checked on even though there is a standing Alliance::
"I hope to meet up with an old rival of mine if possible while we are still on leave. Subcommander Zen'tan managed to put quite a dent in our squadron and gave me a run for my money that time a few years back when we were testing the Achilies torpedo and they were not too happy about the results. He made the old girl and I push to the very limits of performance and he still managed to put a few shots into me. Oh well,I pelted him a few times and if I had a few more seconds, there would have been a nice shiny new missile going right into his left inpulse thruster. His callsign was Spartan and you could always recognize it because his fighter was painted blood red after our little tussle ten years ago. Section 31 did a profile on the guy and he managed to rack up 33 Federation fighter kills and took down two Akira class destroyers himself....quite the pilot indeed.
::A group of 6 RSE fighters lance from the airstrip and assume an arrowhead formation as the noise put out dulls out any noise for a few seconds. Looking skyward the Colonel cracks a slight smile and looks down at the pictures inside of the cockpit, one of his late wife and another of the old 117th Squadron before they left on that fateful mission::
"Nice place this Romulus is.....I'll have to come back here and check it out without the uniform and maybe a few buddies. I know they are still a little iffy on this whole Alliance thing since we have been involved in hidden wars for so long but they can fight and build a good fighter... I can imagine what the people back on Earth would say if a bunch of Rommies walked down Times Square like a bunch of tourists...or even if they showed up back home in Bergen Norway....I'm sure my parents would think the world had ended. We've got a new pilot...well she isin't new to the ship but to the flight bay she is. I wonder how she will do when the metal meets the air and not the simulator training. If her previous job is any indication...she will do just fine.
::Looking at the digital displays in the fighter he decides that it is time to take back to the skies. Pressing a few commands into the computer and sliding back his helmet which has his callsign "Razorwind" inscribed on it he attaches his rebreather and cracks his knuckles...a sign that it's once again time to fly...."

::Taking a slight drag of a cigar and a small sip of congac the Colonel pauses writing his personal thoughts in a leatherbound notebook. Asking the computer to stop playing Violin Concert in C Minor he slides the pen in between the two open pages and leans back. A slight creak of the joints make the Colonel aware of the age of this particular piece of furniture but it is comfortable nonetheless, a gift from his subordinates upon acceptance of this assignment. Stevenson closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, aware of the incidents on the bridge and on the planet below. He relaxes for a moment and orders the computer to begin active voice recording for his personal audio log.::
"It has been a few days now since I questioned the actions of the Empire. The mood given to me by the senior members of the crew both Federation and Romulan have changed and I have considered tendering my resignation from this assignment. For a lack of a better term things have been....different and tense. Once I was down on the planet, observing the protests and devlierving the Ambassador doing my ::tightens his fists:: duty to Starfleet. Hearing those people and being on the other side of the line for so long made me think of many things both near and far."
::Turning in his chair and rising to his feet the Colonel grabs a reference book and makes a few notes into it,having come up with several more items for that particular reference. Finishing his work he sits back down into the chair and resumes his thoughts::
"The incidents on thebridge just after our leaving of the planet's orbit are worth noting in my log. The CNS, a fellow member of Starfleet took my side in this conflict but in an action of direct violation to ANY military code both terran or extraterrestrial, the Tactical officer whom I hold a great deal of respect for stood up in vocal defiance of my words and the actions of the senior command staff and even questioned the integrity of the Alliance. As a senior member of this ship, and of the Starfleet Marine Corps, I am unsure that I will ever be able to prove my dedication to this cause even having lost so much for it's inception. ::looks towards former unit photographs and a picture of the late Lt.Monika Stevenson, his late wife:: They will never know how much I have given towards this Alliance and to the uniform I wear. The Captain and I have yet to formally or informally speak on the matter and I hope we can do so quite soon. She knows what I have given and had to do because she was there....many years ago when the Empire and Federation almost declared war. Until then I will work in conflict and do my duty, regardless of what some may think."
::Turning back to his desk and jotting down a few more notes in his leatherbound notebook he sips his drink slightly. His eyes drift to the viewpot that is above his bunk and he gazes out into the great expanse wondering what is in store for the next few days for him as a person,as a soldier, the Empire,Starfleet, and the Alliance.::

::Still in his black body armor and sitting against a tree,Colonel Magnus Stevenson,Executive Officer of the Starship New York thinks about setting foot on this very natural planet and the unique location of this Romulan station, based here in a remote section of the planet, hidden away from normal prying eyes. With a slight press of a button, the Colonel's personal log data recorder begins manifesting his spoken word into eletronic data::
"It has been almost two weeks since the incident over Gaius and it seems that a quiet tenseness has shrouded the crew in their operations on this remote planet. After agreeing that all crew members present, includng the Captain herself would make planetfall, we broke up into teams that would look over this installation and it's occoupants. Myself, the Chief Engineer and the Assistant Engineer were tasked by the Captain to overlook the physical structure itself along with the external monitoring and scientific equipment. The results from these level one scans and diagnostics are still coming in and should be completed within a few days time."
::Nodding to a member of the Security team that it is his time to assume his post on fire watch within the New York's base camp the Colonel pauses to light up a smoke. Taking in the rare chance to enjoy nature wherever in the galaxy it might be he suspected for a brief moment that he was in the fijords of his native Norway,on some extended camping trip. This thought brought back memories of his family and times that seem very very long ago. Shrugging the thought off the Colonel looks outward at the Romulan station and unzips his sleeping bag.::

Computer Begin XO's Log, Authorization Anarra Five Delta
I was promoted today to XO. Its a big step from CMO, but I know I will do a good job. The captain has been helping me to step beyond from what I thought I could be. Dan'lia was promoted to CMO like I suggested, she is a wonderful doctor and will be a wonderful CMO. Its going to be interesting not being in sickbay any more. But I know that it will be an adventure that I will enjoy.
During my first shift as XO on the bridge we started on our way to drop off a diplomat when a console short circuted in Engineering and caused an explosing, it is being repaired, and the injured have been taken to sickbay. Everything should be back to 100% in the hour.

Computer Begin XO's Log Authorization anarra five delta theta.
We are escorting a doctor to a conference who is the leading authority on several genetic illnesses. He is especially known to finding the cause of paranoid behavior leading to criminal activity in many species including the breen. He is also carrying several highly sensitive documents that he is taking to the conference as well.
I have read his work in the past and find it quite intriging, he is a leading expert in his field, really the only one with so much research done into this topic. The documents which he is carrying are apparently very sensitive and only available to the captain at her request. Though I do not know if she has seen them. I would love to get my hands on them as well.
Unfortanatly because of this we are afraid that either the Breen or the Orions might try to steal both the doctor and the infomation. Our mission is to escort him safely with out them doing that. Sensors howeverhave picked up two breen ships and two orion pirate ships who are looking for us.
Weve missed their sensor sweeps so far with our cloak in hand, but time will only tell if they will give up on us. Unfortanatly the breen and the orions are very determined species and have started to fire blindly in hopes of hitting us. I am hopping we can get out of their firing range soon or at least get into a spot where they cant fire at us.
The captain is planning to deveirt them with a ghost ship long enough for us to reach the planet. I honestly dont know if this plan will work. I havnt studdied that type of manuver or trick much, but I do know of several instances where its been used both to good affect and to negative affect. I hope it works in our favour. But I will continue to think of new ideas in order to evade them.

The Orion have tried to attack us, but we have prevailed yet again. At times I wonder why they attack the federation when they almost certainly will lose.
Shields are at decresed capacity but we should get them back in full soon. I'm having Ops do continuous scans just in case, I dont want us to be caught off gaurd for unkown reasons.
The captain is injured from the last shock wave. I've asked her to go down to sickbay, but as always she refuses. I know its her position to be on the bridge, but the Cut looked deep, and I'm afraid that she will lose too much blood with out noticing. So Ive asked the CMO to send up a medic to work on the captain while we work on repairing the ship and making sure everything is in order.
On a more personal note there is still no news from Mark. I grow anxious. Adria grows more and more everyday.

The battle is over, thankfully we havnt lost any lives, but several officers will have to go into rehab or be on medical leave. The ship is in dire straights. We have come to a romulan starbase to recieve repairs and possible refits. Hopefully It wont take more then a week, but It will give the crew a chance to relax on the planet on shore leave.
I will be monitoring repairs as well as getting some relaxation of my own in.

Shore leave is now over. It was probably my most relaxing and enjoyable shore leave yet. Our next mission involves checking on a romulan planet that is slowly rehabilitating their enviroment. It sounds like an interesting endevor and I look forward to see how they are progressing.
On a more personal note I have recieved a letter from Mark. He is well. Thats all he said. I will have to live with that for now.
