Computer, begin log
Let's see... I just completed my first mission. I need to get used to the helm. My pervious assignments have been in security, and that is more of my specialty.
I miss my friends from the Enterprise, which was my last ship, but I also look forward to being on the same ship as Anarra. I look forward to making new friends, though. Even though I am half Vulcan, half human, I still appreciate humor and act human. Than my human mom and stepdad for that. My sense of humor helps me to make new friends, though. My natural Vulcan telepathic abilites haven't been surpressed by my upbringing, and I have empaathic powers as a result. I hope these abilities can help me make friends.

After a very hectic two weeks, I finally have time to update my logs. My family from Oaklahoma (on Earth) were visiting all last week, and interrupted me from completing the mission when they arrived. I'm getting used to my post at helm, and am starting to really enjoy the position. I still miss my last ship, but I also love the New York and the crew. I am also very glad my good friend, Anarra is here to help me get aquainted. We haven't seen each other since our academy days, so we have a lot of catching up to do. The current mission to deliver supplies was routine until we were almost attacted by the Gatherer's ships. I'm glad the captain smoothed that situation over. (Very diplomatically, I may add, yeah for Captain Radaik!) I hope we don't have any more problems so we can quickly deliver the supplies to the famine vctims. Well, that's all I really have to report. I will have more time to write logs now that I have a regular schedule again.

Helm officer's log, Earth date Nov. 9th
I have been getting to know my crewmates better over the last few weeks, and I am starting to relax around them. I like Galaxy class ships the best because they have more creature comforts, such as Ten Forward, than any other class of starship. No Guinan to make milkshakes, but the replicator is well programmed with all of the chocolate desserts I could ever want.
I want to thank Mark, for helping me get used to the slightly different technology on this ship (for helping me get a picture on my posts). I hope I can get to know the newest crewmembers soon, too. There are constant personel transfers on a large ship like the New York or my previous post, the Enterprise, as I have experienced often. I still miss the Enterprise and the people I made friends with during my fairly short time on that ship. Oh well. I digress even on my own logs.
I am looking forward to my next shift, so I can help my friends on the surface of Acmar III. ::End log::

::Helm officer's log, Earth date Nov. 15th::
I am glad we have finally wrapped up our releif mission to Acmar III, and am looking forward to some new adventures, and maybe some leisure time.
I am trying to think of a message to send to my family. My stepfather sent a message telling me that my brother (actually he's my half brother) is going to graduate college soon, and that I need to at least send a letter to acknowledge it. My sister's 16th birthday is also soon, and I need to send her a message, too. She sent a letter over subspace recently, telling me that she was adjusting well to the USS Bahrain. I'm just glad that Starfleet gave dad permission for Lynette to live with him again. She really missed him when she was living with me on the Enterprise.
List of things to do: 1. Write and send messages to family. 2. Check out the holodeck, and see if there's any good training programs. 3. Bother Anarra because I don't talk to her enough. 4. Finish this log entry.

::Zandile walks into her quarters after meditating on the holodeck, refreshed. She went to her desk and opened a file on her computer.:: Computer, begin recording...
Hey little sis! Happy Birthday! You need to reply ASAP and tell me how you're doing. I miss you so much. I am doing great here on the New York. I am serving with my friend from the Academy, Anarra Danrea. You must have met her at some point. Are you still planning on applying early at Starfleet Academy? I hope you get in. If you need help studying for the entrance exams, just ask. I hope that you have an awesome birthday. I'm sending your gift, but it may take a few days to get to you. Say hi to dad for me! Love ya!
Computer, stop recording and save file as Letter to Lynette 123beta::After the computer acknowledged, Zandile turned off the computer screen, flopped on her bed and picked up her book. A few minutes later, she was absorbed in Shakepeare.::

::Zandile flops into her chair after stretching all of her muscles. She had been writing a lot over the past few days, and desperately wanted to continue her training on the holodeck. She had been practicing in her quarters over the last few weeks, in between the other work she had to do. She sighed.:: Computer, begin log.
Something subtle has changed on the ship sometime during the last week. Everyone is more at ease with each other, more talkative, happier. Even our formerly silent VS officer, Yhea, seems to be more comfortable. I really like this change, and it makes me like living and serving on the New York even more. I am getting to know everyone much better as a result.
I wonder what we will be up to on our next mission. It seems to be some sort of diplomatic mission. I look forward to the next briefing from the captain.
::She pauses to stretch and yawn again. I need to get out of here for a bit.:: Computer, end log

::Zandile sits at her computer after taking a short pause from dinner. She stretches her muscles, that holodeck simulation was a little too real. She smiled at the memory of having to help Tyler get out of the rockslide.:: Computer, begin log.
I need to finish this quickly. I have to go back to the ambasador's dinner party. The ambassador is a very interesting person. He also knew what the delicious noodle dish was, rigitoni, I believe. I am always willing to try new foods, as long as they don't have meat. I am very curious about what is going on that the Captain, Tyler and Anarra were needed. I need to go back to dinner now. Perhaps this mystery can be solved soon.
Computer end log ::After checking her reflection in the mirror, Zandile hurries back up to the officer's mess.

::Zandile yawns, she had just spent a restless night tossing and turning. There had been a lot to think about over the past few days, and it was interfering with her sleep. As long as she got some herbal tea into her before duty, though, she was just fine. I need to mediate more, she thinks as she turns on her computer.:: "Computer, begin log"
::yawn:: "Note to self, don't write logs in the morning. Tyler and I had a lovely dinner in the officer's mess yesterday, and dessert afterwards. I hope we can go on another date soon, considering the turmoil of two mysterious murders on the ship. Tyler suddenly has a lot more work on his hands. The craziness has also been affecting my telepahic abilities. I am trying to gain the mental control to block these strange dreams and emotions that plague me when I'm asleep. Meditation before bed helps a great deal. Note to self: thank Tarik for teaching me that meditation."
::Zandile hits the pause button, and yawns again. Then, she gets dressed quickly, and actually puts her pajamas away instead of just leaving them on the chair or the bed. She puts her hair in a bun and tries to keep the whisps of dark hair out of her face. After five minutes, she realizes that trying to get her hair to cooperate this morning would be worse than fighting a Klingon and gives up for the moment. She sighs and returns to her computer.::
"Computer, resume log."
"I wonder if Anarra and Mark had fun on their date, too. I am very happy she has also found someone on the crew to spend quality time with. Note to self: I need to get some Betazoid recipies from her sometime, cause I found another favorite food at dinner with Tyler." ::Yawn again.:: "computer, end log."
::Zandile goes over to her replicator and makes some tea and sips it down without even letting it cool. Then she eats some waffles for breakfast. Finally, she is ready to face the morning.::

::Zandile took a mug out of the replicator. After the first good night's sleep she had in a week, she needed some tea to fully awaken. She had never developed a taste for coffee, but she managed to wake up just fine after a mug of specially blended tea. She took a deep breath of the aroma and took a sip.::
"Computer, begin log"
"The ship has clamed down somewhat, which is helping me sleep. I have also discovered that hot chocolate before bed and a harder than usual workout during the day makes me tired enough to sleep without the strange dreams that stem from the restlessness, fear and confusion felt by the passengers and crew. I do hope this mystery is solved soon and the ship can get back to normal. ::She took another sip of the tea.::

::Zandile sighed contentedly. She and Tyler had just spent an absolutely perfect time in the holodeck.:: "Computer, begin log."
"Our mission last night went well. We got to kick some Lyran butt and the superb crew managed to unravel a lot of the clues from our mystery. Yhea found the commbadge at the scene of the second murder, Anarra found the identity of the killer. And Tyler did an excellent job of protecting the ship, crew and visitors from any further attacks, while conducting the investigation. When we were attacked by the Lyrans and more Orions, the captain used excellect stategies to win the battle very quickly. I was also perplexed when the remaining ships fled the scene, but I am sure this mystery can be solved very quickly. I will do my best to help my crewmates figure out this problem before we reach the science outpost.
On a personal note, I just spent a wonderful evening in the holodeck with Tyler. He is such a gentleman, and I am very lucky, and I enjoy his company very much." ::Zandile paused, remembering Tyler's request.:: "computer, end log."
::Zandile spent several minutes programming the computer to wake Tyler up with music and the sound of the waterfall they had enjoyed on the holodeck. Then, she accessed the replicator programming and programmed the one in his quarters to make coffee and specially blended tea that wakes you up really fast along with biscuits and sausage. She was not at all a morning person, but she also programmed an alarm for herself so she could call Tyler and get him awake herself if the music and smell of food didn't work. I can always go back to sleep later if I need to, she thought as she flopped into bed and fell deeply asleep within minutes.::

"I am so happy, I can't even describe it. I guess the old saying that you have to go through the bad relationships to know what good ones are like is true. I have finally found the perfect relationship with the perfect guy. Tyler is so different from the last guy who professed his love for me. He was a lying jerk, and Tyler is perfect. Tyler is sincere, and honest, thoughtful, funny, and I love him more every day." ::Zandile pauses for a moment to again admire the beautiful engagement ring Tyler gave her.::
"I still need to call my family and tell them the news. My sister would be the perfect bridemaid. I suppose I have some work to do."

ot"Computer begin log"
These past two weeks have been great. First, the holidays were fun. Second, Tyler and I had a lot of time to be together (which is why the holidays were fun). He taught me how to fish and drive a boat today in the holodeck, which was really fun. Third, I managed to contact and tell my family about my engagement. Unfortuantely, I don't think very many of them can come. My stepdad, sister and brother are coming, though. I wish my mother was alive to see this day, she would have been so happy.
I was glad to start duty again, though. We are almost to our destination, and we're unraveling this murder mystery. Candela has found the means for the intruders to get on board, a small hole in the shields that a transporter beam can fit through. The pieces are falling into place. Hopefully, we can wrap this up soon in time to give the Ambassador a proper tour of the ship without the additional security measures that have been in place for awhile now.
On a further note, I welcome our new XO, Colonel Stephenson. I also congratulate my honey, Tyler on his promotion to Lieutenant. Last but not least, I send a belated official congratulations to Anarra and Mark on their engagement.
::Zandile yawned, and got some tea from the replicator. Then she remembered that the computer was still recording the log.::

::Zandile had stepped out of the metting for a moment so she could make a log entry.::
"Computer begin log."
We're finally unravelling this mystery. We know who the murderer is, rather who they were posing as, and how they got on board, but we don't know how where they are. I hope we get to the station soon, cause I am eager to find out what our next mission will be. I also hope to get a chance to get to know the newer members of the crew better soon, they are fitting in quite well so far.
"Computer, end log."
::Zandile recycled the mug of tea she had had in the meeting and then went back to the ready room.::

::Zandile slumped into her chair after a long duty shift. She sighed tiredly.:: "Computer, begin log."
We finally completed our mission and delivered out passengers safely to their destinations. We had to travel at high warp for several hours in order to complete the mission in time. We are now headed to the Romulan Neutral Zone, for what should be a very interesting mission. ::Zandile pauses, thinking about her last trip to Romulan territory.::
I am also happily looking forward to my upcoming wedding. Tyler and I still have a few plans to make, and now that the investigation is over, we should have time to talk about more details. ::Zandile smiled, and then yawned.:: I might also be able to get more sleep, too.
