USS Expedition NCC 76227
The Expedition makes it way to the Ketrian System to investigate a binary star. On their way, they continue to study LTJG Morgan, and determine if these nanites are a threat. As they approached, they picked up a Ketrian escort. One of the escorts approached, and hailed the Expedition. It was a Ketrian starship, and they were quite¡K..insulted with the Captains response. Disbelieving that a male is in command, CDR Lucifel explained to them the purpose of their intrusion in Ketrian space.
USS New York NCC 71868
The New York prepared an away team, and sent them to the surface to take out the fighters in the subterranean hangar. Last week the New York took a day in memorial for the Victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

To the REAL Heroes
By CDR Vanessa Ann Lucifel.
September 11, 2001 is a day that will truly live in infamy. A day that saw the worse attack on United States soil ever as well as the greatest rescue effort ever in the world.
Where fellow Americans gave their lives for others, and protect this fragile freedom we all enjoy. A lot of us lost someone, or possibly witness this day first hand. I was in Manhattan that day, and I can honestly say, it was the saddest day of my life.
In these endeavors to honor this brave men, and women that fell prey to this attack, as well as those who gave their lives in the recovery effort. That day we really learned what a true hero is. And we learned a lot about ourselves, as a people who will not let anyone deny us of the freedom we have.
In these endeavors, Field Marshall Jenina Weslynes began a new thread on the board, a Tribute to 9/11. The USS New York, named after these tragic events, promptly memorialized the day, by postponing their SIM. For the members that don¡¦t know of the USS New York, it was commission last year after the destruction of the USS Alliance. This occurred the same week of 9/11.
We at the weekly would also like to dedicate this Bi-Weekly edition to our brave Fire Fighters, Police, Emergency personnel, and our fighting men, and women abroad. Without them, we probably wouldn¡¦t even be here. Finally, I want to thank you all that were concerned about my recent accident. I am much better now.
STAR TREK: TOS
Has Been Re-mastered
By Captain Crio Ijoula
"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. It's five-year mission, to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before...¡¨ Those words inspired our imaginations when many of us were younger, and they still have that effect today, 40 years after the completion of Gene Roddenberry's "wagon train to the stars," that was the Original Star Trek series.
It's probably safe to say that most of us didn't get to see the Original Star Trek series when it first came out in the mid-to-late 1960s. What many of us saw were reruns of the episodes, until they came out to DVD. Each episode contains a moral story, which we each like, but the special effects from that time might be considered a bit "cheesy" or archaic by today's standards.
CBS and Paramount made a statement a few weeks ago to the effect that ALL of the original 79 episodes of the Classic Star Trek series will be revamped in terms of special effects, to bring the series into the 21st Century. What 'special effects' would be revamped or upgraded, you might ask? According to the article on www.startrek.com/, the ship exteriors will be redone, so we can have depth perception on the Enterprise and other ships. The weapons fire effects will be modified as well, and to add icing on the cake, as it were, the original theme was re-recorded with the latest in digital audio techniques, along with a female singer doing the vocals that many of us remember well. In addition, the original 35 millimeter format of the original film has been taken and re-mastered into a clearer high-definition format, with removal of film stains, scratches, hairs, and all the other imperfections that were present when the episodes aired on TV.
Beginning the weekend of September 16th, 2006, the re masered episodes will be aired on CBS affiliate stations across the United States. Check your local TV listings for times and days of the episodes. This weekend, "Balance of Terror" and "Miri" will be shown, with one episode per weekend after that. So, brace yourselves for a revived thrill ride as these episodes are brought back to a new life.
So, brace yourselves for a revived thrill ride as these episodes are resurrected to a new life. Relive the epic adventures of Captain James T. Kirk, Mister Spock, Doctor 'Bones' McCoy and the rest of the intrepid crew of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 as they once again "boldly go where no man has gone before!"

These were the voyages.
A View of Star Trek from a 42 year old Trekker
By CDR Vanessa A Lucifel
A woman usually doesn¡¦t reveal her age, but in truth, I was only 2 when Star Trek premiered. Of course, I don¡¦t remember any of it, but I remember a childhood full of watching Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Giagantor, Marine Boy, and a myriad of other fantasy a sugar coated sci-fi. Yet I remember watching Scotty in a service access with blue arch¡¦s dancing above him. The dialogue is unmistaken able with Spock counting down, and Scotty muttering ¡§I don¡¦t need a blooming cuckoo clock¡¨.
Of all those childhood memories I remember that like it happened yesterday. Albeit Michelle, and I are much older then most of this fleet (with hopefully a few exceptions), yet I¡¦m the trekker in the house, so I get to do this column. No Television show has affected my life as much as Star Trek. For 10 years I watched reruns religiously. Good episodes, as well as bad ones, and over that time I saw the messages.
Star Trek was a comment on us as a people, as well as entertainment, touching on Civil Rights, Cold War, Nuclear Arms race, things that mattered. And unfortunately, to this day, all we got out of it is Cell Phones, I-Pods, and Personal Computers (Note: AOL didn¡¦t survive World War III).
I myself became interested in space travel. Model Rocketry led to a few memorable designs. A friend of mine began working on a novel (crude at the age of 12), and then it happened, Star Wars.
Star Wars brought out that imagination in me, and reinvigorated the sense that maybe there is hope for a Star Trek series to return. Heck, we even named a Space Shuttle Enterprise, in celebration of Star Trek. Yet there was still a hole to be filled, and 2 years later I was on line at the Old RKO to see Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
I was in love all over again, making sure I never saw the new Enterprise, so when I see it, I would be surprised (I brought the Poster as well). When I saw it in all it¡¦s glory, I was awe struck. Seeing familiar faces, Sulu, Uhura, Chekov, Scotty¡KIt was a joy. It was like all those years waiting, they have finally paid off. With Kirk, Spock, and Bones as the centerpiece, who cares about the story, it¡¦s Star Trek!
As the years went on, I would cry to see my beloved Enterprise destroyed, and revel as the Enterprise-A appears from behind the Excelsior (¡§If my grandmother had wheels, she¡¦d be a wagon¡¨). Yet after every movie, I knew there would be more. And there was more, in the Form of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Like Humans always do, I prejudged it (It is not logical). Blame it on the third episode ¡§Code of Honor¡¨ (truth is, I didn¡¦t like the Enterprise D, but she grew on me), I just had the felling ¡§This is not your fathers Oldsmobile¡¨ but as time went on, the appeal was there. Then season two came, and of course the Borg. It was a wrap from that moment on, this is Star Trek.
The Next Generation begat Deep Space Nine, my interest at the time, Avery Brooks, and just like TNG, I hated it but I soldiered through. I began to get caught in this Soap Opera in space, the Satellite of love if you may. I got to see the real dark side of Starfleet (which also weeded its way on the last season of TNG as well). Section 31, the Dominion, cloak and dagger operations, throw in Worf, and you got the makings of a War series (which in the true sense the best years of DS9).
So here come UPN, and what launches the new Network? Star Trek: Voyager, and unlike the last two, I was objective about Voyager. By the time Futures End came in the Third season, my interest was dying. Yet the Borg was coming, as well as my interest as well (Geri Ryan didn¡¦t hurt either). Meanwhile the Movies kept cranking out.
Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country was the original crew¡¦s heart felt, goodbye. The new kids kept up the pace with Star Trek Generations, and it would mark the end of the Enterprise-D (What a senseless death indeed). Then a set-up that we didn¡¦t know about with Star Trek: First Contact. Oh what an evil web they weave at Paramount.
Voyager came to a sudden, and finality end, leaving us wondering, what¡¦s next? Then they flinched, with the announcement of Enterprise. The premise, I liked. What I saw, I didn¡¦t.
From the jump, something seemed off. You can put Star Trek on it, but that means nothing. Introduce species we never heard of, as well as some we shouldn¡¦t have ever met.
Then to make matters worse, here comes the Xindi. You figure 11 million humans die you would have heard something, so for the next season we¡¦re subjected in a battle that we¡¦re wondering why we¡¦re fighting to begin with. Where are the Romulans, the Tellarites, and the Tholians?
With what we know as the final season in play, things are looking good again. Touching on civil unrest on Earth, the augmented humans, Orions, Romulans, Andorians, Tellarites, but the damage was done. UPN had called it for Star Trek, and we watched the last remnants of Good Star Trek.
Funny thing, they brought down Star Trek, which launched their network, and now they too are gone. Interesting.
I know this is a long column, so bare with me. A man with a dream, Stage Coach to the stars as it were in it first interpretation, had affected Millions world wide. He had given way to 10 films, and 5 series. 28 years worth of Star Trek, heck we need our own channel. But there¡¦s more, like this Simulation Group, Private Trek fan clubs, Conventions, now even Web episodes. Perhaps the words still resonate when you pick up a cell phone, or look into the stars, yet they are the most remember able words for the past 40 years.
Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. It¡¦s 5 year mission, to find strange new worlds. To seek out new life, and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before.
Late breaking news:
Star Trek Enterprise will be coming to Sci-Fi Channel. Also there is talk about Star Trek TOS will also be coming to TV Land.
STAR TREK
THE NEW VOYAGES
By Lt Candela Greene
Tell me if this sounds familiar. Suppose you were a Trekker, that wanted to bring to life the original spirit and dream of Gene Roddenberry. OK, so that¡¦s a no brainer, lets add that you had access to Uniforms, Props, and a full scale model of the bridge of the USS Enterprise, and oh yeah, a studio.
This is what James Cawley did, and with assistance he has resurrected the USS Enterprise, and her crew to complete the very first 5 year mission of Captain Kirk.
No, no William Shatner, or Leonard Nimoy here, but a group of very talented people who went out on this endeavor.
Although I have no about info to draw on, I do have a FAQ list to display about this courageous venture.
Jim Cawley as Captain Kirk
Q. Why Kirk, Spock and McCoy? Why not new characters set in the same timeline?
A. Star Trek: New Voyages' producers/crew feel that Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest should be treated as "classic" characters like Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman, Gandalf from Lord of the Rings or even Hamlet, Othello or Romeo. Many actors have and can play the roles, each offering a different interpretation of said character. Though the character is the same, the interpretation of the actor is what's in question. We feel that the crew of the Enterprise has more to teach us about life and each other than has been explored to date. We also feel the new actors can add to the legend in a believable and contemporary way. Yes, some may have a problem separating Shatner from Kirk - all we ask is that you give it a try and see whether Kirk and the crew still have something to say to you.
Jeff Quinn as Mr. Spock
Q. How is the production financed?
A. The cost of the production is being paid out of pocket by the producers/crew. Yes, it is expensive, but we're fortunate to have many talented people donate their time and money for a worthy cause and a once in a lifetime trip around the galaxy! We in no way make money from this show and we all volunteer our time, effort and our own money to bring these shows to the internet.
Q. What is the premise of the new show?
A. The new show will be the continuing voyages of Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701 as seen in the 1966-69 television series, Star Trek. The series was cancelled after its third season. We are restarting the series as if it were in its fourth year.
John Kelly as Dr Leonard McCoy
Q. Who¡¦s running this show?
A. The idea for creating a new series based on the original Star Trek first originated in 1997 with James Cawley. James worked with original series and Next Generation costume designer, William Ware Theiss. Over the years James has amassed a huge collection of set pieces, props and costumes with one goal in mind: reclaiming the spirit of Trek.
Q. What is our goal overall?
A. Our ultimate goal is to produce a full year's worth (22 or more) web episodes per year maintaining Gene Roddenberry's philosophy and vision for the original 1960¡¦s television show. We believe in challenging people¡¦s thoughts and enticing them to action. We feel that Star Trek is a great vehicle for exploring the human condition. We plan to devote the series to commenting on the current condition of life on Earth in the 21st century.
Q. What versions of the costumes/props/sets are being used?
A. The costumes, sets and props will be those seen in the original series of Star Trek. Some of the props, sets and costumes will be updated to reflect the changes planned for Star Trek Phase II, the aborted series that would have featured the original cast in the late 1970's.
Q. What standing sets will be used?
A. All of the sets utilized in the original series are being re-created to some degree including the addition of some new ones. The following sets are being complete and standing: Full - 360 Degree Bridge, Turbo lift, Transporter Room and Briefing Room. Sickbay, Crew¡¦s Quarters, Ship¡¦s corridors, Captain's Office, Recreation Room, Gym, Chapel, Admirals office and whatever other needs are Swing Sets constructed as needs arise.
Q. Who are the characters?
A. The cast will feature Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy, Lieutenant Uhura, Lieutenant Cmdr. ¡§Scotty¡¨ Scott, Lieutenant Cmdr. DeSalle, Nurse Chapel, and Lieutenant Rand. Sulu and Chekov will make their first appearance in episode 3. Additionally, Transporter Chief Kyle marks his return to the Enterprise as well!
Q. How will the characters be portrayed?
A. The original Star Trek characters are so well known that the task of recasting the parts seems impossible. We are not casting people who look or act like the original actors. What we don¡¦t want is a parody ¡V an actor imitating William Shatner doing Kirk for example. We want actors who will be able to remind us of our old friends, but bring to the characters a new life, a fresh interpretation, not a stale imitation. The cast we are assembling are actors first ¡V and a few have only now begun viewing TOS episodes. But what they bring to the table is talent and vitality. They will be believable as these characters and will be as effective as any Trek cast thus far!
There is much more to this, but this is the specifics. To read the rest just click the link on the Banner above, or got to the FAQ page.
As of September 12, 2006 there are 2 episodes. ¡§Come What May¡¨, the pilot is some tragic as the plot get lost a bit, but worth watching as a Ptolmey Class Tug is in this episode, as well as a really familiar alien ship. The second episode ¡§In Harms Way¡¨ is a classic, and a must watch. Guest appearance by William Windon reprising his role, and Barbara Luna as well makes an appearance (Probably Crio knows who these two are).
These are web episodes so a broadband connection is recommended. There are previews to the next episode as well which will star Walter Koening. There is nothing but good news at this site, and it keeps the spirit of Gene Roddenberry alive. The whole feel of TOS is there, especially the Enterprise. More footage, original score, and all that neat stuff in the General Technical manual really exist as well.
