Around the Fleet
USS Expedition NCC 76227
With the Nanites slowly breaking through their defenses, the Expedition prepares the Subspace shockwave, but before they can activate it, the nanites cease, and repair the ship. An away team is sent down to Arman 4 to find the science team alive, and the return of LtJG Morgan. But she has two life signs?
USS New York NCC 71868
The New York watches as a shuttle with a shipment of Quadresium heads for the Federation, but it’s being shadowed. After identifying the shadow as an Orion Raider, they disable it, and take the crew prisoners. Captain Radaik prepares to rid Justuras of their unwanted guest.
USS Aryes NCC 81204
The Aryes is pummeled by two Cardassian Cruisers, and Captain Sowren is in labor. With the ship 2 months in the future, and no help in sight, they try desperately to escape. With Q’s reappearance, the Aryes returns near Starbase 234, but with evidence of a battle.
101st Marine Pathfinders
The Pathfinders were saddened with the sudden departure of the XO Sandra Iverson. Who discovering her late husband left a special gift is now pregnant with his child. She is unsure if she will return. A new XO was waiting for them on DS-9, much to the surprise of Ga’Lar. Thyra Mopak a female Cardassian has had her eye on him for awhile. And now is his Commanding Officer.
USS London-A UFMV-16052-B
A mission was assigned to retrieve an Ambassador, and his escort from a Class P Planet.
USS Pegasus UFMV 25347
The Pegasus begins to Process the Quadresium, and prepare for a possible battle with the Ktarnians. The search for the Terrasect continues.
USS Frontier NCC 11385
The Frontier has followed an Alien space craft to the fourth planet in the system. They found evidence of a civilization, but a natural dampening field made it difficult to pinpoint. An away team was then sent to investigate, only to be investigated by the aliens.

From the office of Field Marshal J Weslynes
Greetings,
I am pleased to announce several things that have happened within the Marine division. The first is that Lt Colonel Thomas Allen who was in Acting Co position for the USS Vindicator is now a full Colonel.
He took a dying ship and has infused it with new life. Doubling its crew, inspiring over 100 postings in less then 3 days. And a total of over 200 postings since taking on the ACO slot.
Many of you have noticed a new ship the USS Tarawa UFMV 70251. On that board you'll find a listing of sites to explain how and why she was chosen to carry that name.
The USS Vindicator UFMV 16052 has been decommissioned. She was brought to us by Ret Flt Admiral Crystal Stuart. The Vindicator had a long and illustrious career. And the lady, we have had the honor of housing, will now be placed in retirement, one she has truly earned.
There are a few additional things in the works in the Marine department and will be announced soon.

From the desk of Commander Vanessa A Lucifel
Greetings,
Our intrepid Editor, Marine Captain Jennifer Morgan is currently on special assignment, so guess who is filling in?
I know the Field Marshall will be a tad upset that a Naval Officer is doing the honors this week, but I promise I will continue the Weekly’s high values.
This is an exciting week for the United Forces. Two new vehicles have been commissioned, as well as the exciting continuation of the Pegasus, and Terrasect joint SIM.
This week, Captain Crio Ijoula could not join us in this issue, due to a loss in the family. His current Trivia question will be ongoing for a few weeks.
Also a hearty welcome for our newest recruits, I hope you enjoy this issue, as you will notice I’m a busy woman, and take pride in all I do.
There is no schedule when Marine Captain Morgan we rejoin us, but she will be doing s few issues now, and then. Her e-mail is still available, so don’t let this scare you off from e-mailing her.
Thank You
Commander Vanessa Ann Lucifel

What were they thinking?
By: Field Marshall Jenina Weslynes
A member of a board sim reported today while posting on the USS Tawara the following happened:
She took a sthingyful of the red bat soup with some of the diced meat, then a bite of the teeghar steak. She smiled and her antennae curved in his direction.
She attempted to correct the mistake and wondering how she ever spelt sthingyful as sthingyful. After correcting it then clicking on modify sure enough sthingyful reappeared. After another try she used the spell check feature of proboards. One correction they offered was sthingyful. She click on that and looked at the posting there it was corrected. At last she thought. Hitting modify she looked again, guess what sthingyful was back.
She had her roommate attempt the same correction process with the same result. This is her OCC comment: OOC COMMENT ---- I AM NOT SURE WHY PROBOARDS IS CENSORING THE WORD YOU USE AS A UTENSIL FOR EATING SOUP. WHEN YOU READ THIS PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND MY CHARACTER IS USING THE PROPER UTENSIL. I HAVE MODIFIED THIS ABOUT 8 TIMES AND GIVE UP.
Who could blame Major Jaylas Aniri for giving up. Proboards what are you thinking when you censor the word "Sthingy".

The USS Yankee came on the heels of the USS Hornet. The Hornet, a super Battle Carrier, although effective, lacks speed. The idea of a Pocket Carrier came to mind, but what platform would be idea for this?
Commander Vanessa A Lucifel was very much in the thick of this project, settling on the Akira Class space frame. An Excellent Heavy Cruiser, with a large spacious Hangar. Yet it still had shortcoming to turn it into a true pocket carrier.
The Akira Class
She would forego the standard PBY warp nacelles for the older, proven Leeds Nacelles. She also resurrected the same technology used on the USS Excelsior Transwarp Drive. The initial test proved promising, as the Yankee reached Transwarp 11.7. The structural variations on the Akira Space frame were dauntless to say the least.
The Yankee Class
By inverting the Warp struts forward, the subspace field was compressed, thus improving the speed. It also made the ship much more maneuverable as well. As a NX Class ship, the Yankee would excel at breaking numerous records. As a Carrier, it became a realization as well. Removing its comfortable quarters for less comfortable barrack style lodging for the crew, and keeping its cruiser amentias made it that much more appealing for the Marines.
Starfleet ordered 30 ships total, 15 naval, and 15 marine, with the Tarawa being the first Marine Variant, and making up a new backbone for marine forces. With the Cargo bays, they are also able to carry Terrapin type Pac’s, as well as Drop ships for marine deployment.

The creation of the Marines in 2382 left a big hole in available equipment for them. Although the Federation has a myriad of support craft, none were truly ready for the mission needs that lay ahead.
One notable area was the APC, the Viper was a generic design based on a Cardassian APC with additional equipment added to it. Although made hearty enough, the Viper lacked armor, and maneuverability, although it offered excellent fire power for their presumed needs.
In 2385 a push was made to retool all of the marine’s equipment. The push for a smaller, faster, and more adaptable unlike the Viper, this vehicle can become any number of ground vehicles needed. The Terrapin was the end product.
As built it is little more then a transport, but built with a standard Turret, twin phaser pulse cannons, and a micro torpedo launcher, the Terrapin is a Tank that can take out any other armored vehicle. The Terrapin reduced the need for long range projectile armored vehicles as it can also be equipped with a missile launcher platform.
It also introduced a Masking generator that virtually turns it into a chameleon, able to match any Terrain. It also uses Magnatomic Thrusters to zip it along so it can stay under detection grids, and get passed mined areas, as well as change positions quickly.
Alien Corner
ANDORIANS
Founder members of the Federation, the Andorians are a violent warrior race. Unlike the Klingons they tend to fight for purely practical gain rather than for personal honour or glory. Andorian culture stresses discipline and self control, and this can make them appear unsympathetic at times.
Physically, Andorians are humanoids similar to many in the Federation. They have distinctive blue skin and white hair, but the most obvious difference lies in their antenna; these are often fixed in place, but in some Andorians the antenna can move. There is a sub-species of Andorians known as The Aenar, who have much paler skin and are blind. Telepathy is common amongst the Aenar, and they have strict cultural rules against using their abilities to spy on the thoughts of others. The Aenar are strongly isolationist, and very few Andorians have ever managed to meet one although there are some communications between the Andorian government and the Aenar leaders. There is also a strong streak of pacifism in Aenar culture.
The Andorians and Vulcans have a somewhat troubled history; in the mid 21st century the Andorians terraformed a Class-D planetoid which they named Wehtaan. When they refused to allow the Vulcans to inspect the colony the Vulcans responded by forcibly evacuating the colony. In 2097 the Vulcans officially claimed the planetoid, which they named Paan Mokar'a in 2097. Hostilities continued until 2152 when Captain Archer managed to negotiate a peace deal between the two sides.
The Andorians have also had considerable animosity with the Tellarites in the past. In 2154 the Romulans attempted to initiate a war between the two sides by using a drone ship which could camoflague itself as other vessels to attack an Andorian warship. The plot failed thanks to Captain Archer and the NX-01, who created a temporary alliance between the two sides and the Humans and Vulcans. In the aftermath the Andorians and Tellarites at last began to talk through their problems. Both sides also attended the inter-species conference held on Earth in 2155, which aimed to build a true alliance between many of the planets near Earth.
In the Mirror universe, Andorians were one of the subject races which the Terran Empire subjugated during the first century after it achieved starflight. Andorians continued to design and build their own ships; in 2155 many of these took part in the rebellion which threatened the Empire that year. The rebellion was quelled in large part thanks to the advanced technology the Empire obtained from the USS Defiant.

Crio's Trivia Corner
===From the Office of Captain Crio Ijoula --- USS Terrasect===
==============================
This week's trivia comes from the logs of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, and carries a difficulty level of 5, and is a tough one pair.
=/\= During the battle over Veridian 3, what was the shield modulation of the USS Enterprise-D, in megahertz (MHz)?
*Eager-Beaver Question*
=/\= What type and vintage was the wine that christened the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B?
==============================
The answer will appear in a later edition of the UF Weekly newsletter, due to the difficulty level. Good luck to everyone.
As always, please email your answers or guesses to chrisdeel@aol.com Please put either "Trivia” or "Crio's Trivia Corner" in the subject line
