Around the Fleet
USS Expedition NCC 76227
The Expedition has reached Arman 4, and the nanites have been busy on the planet surface. Also a ship hangs in orbit, but no activity from it. An away team was sent to the science station to investigate.
USS New York NCC 71868
An away team was on the surface doing recon on recent activity on Justarus in Romulan space. They discovered several important events taking place on the surface and that Cardassians are at the center of this along with the Breen.
USS Aryes NCC 81204
The Crew has gathered in the Lounge before they disembark on their next mission.
101st Marine Pathfinders
The Pathfinders were saddened with the sudden departure of the XO Sandra Iverson. Who discovering her late husband left a special gift is now pregnant with his child. She is unsure if she will return. A new XO was waiting for them on DS-9, much to the surprise of Ga'lar. Thyra Mopak a female Cardassian has had her eye on him for awhile. And now is his Commanding Officer.
USS London-A UFMV-16052-B
No report from the London at this time.
USS Pegasus UFMV 25347
The Pegasus while on a mission to Omega Sagitarri IV received an encoded message on a secured channel from the Terrasect. The away team on the surface was recalled and they immediately left using transwarp drive. They have arrived at the Typhoon Expense and will meet with the Terrasect.
USS Frontier NCC 11385
The Frontier has encountered an alien Warp signature. After tracking it for a distance, they ran into multiple intersections where the signature apparently split in two.
Board Sims
USS Vindicator UFMV 16052
Lt Colonel Allen is hosting a ship wide dinner so the crew can get to know each other in a relaxed setting. Where he has a few surprises in store for his crew. The crew is making new friends while missing those who left. Final preparations are being made for their next mission
USS Terrasect NCC 70000
The Terrasect begins to go over the data, and shuttle wreckage with a fine toothed comb. Questions arise about the Ktarnian technology, and honesty in this situation concerning the Admirals, and Away Teams disappearance.
New Recruits
101st welcomes
Thyra Mopak a female Cardassian as the new XO

From the desk of Jenina Weslynes
Greetings,
The United Forces is embarking on a first and to my knowledge a first for other sim groups. A board sim and a live sim will have a joint venture. This will take place between the Terrasect and the Pegasus.
The exact way we will precede on this is still in the final stages of preparations. However the Pegasus left and is now meeting the Terrasect
We do know that part of it will be played out on the boards and the some parts will be played out as a live sim. How much of which one is still to be determined.
The Pegasus now has a special thread which will house the communication between Captain Crio Ijoula (sp) and me this will be posted later in the week. And I assume on the Terrasect as well.
Lets all wish both Sims a successful venture so we can look forward to more joint ventures between the various Sims.
Thank you,
Field Marshall Jenina Weslynes

Notes : Although the Constitution and Miranda classes were widely regarded as being more than able to defend the Federation, in the 2260's it was decided to produce a new class of vessel which would give Starfleet a decisive superiority over the Romulan and Klingon Empires. This new vessel was to be almost totally dedicated to the combat mission; she would carry very little in the way of scientific research or diplomatic conference facilities. This marked a radical departure in Starfleet design ethics, and lead to a type of vessel new to the Federation - the Dreadnought.
The ship was given a heavy weapons fit comprising five phaser banks of two phasers each plus two photon torpedo tubes. The latter were of a new and heavy type, far more powerful than those in service at the time. In defensive terms the ship was equally well provided. The shields were almost 30% stronger than those of the Constitution, while the hull structure was considerably stronger than those generally used by Starfleet. The entire hull was also covered in a superconductive coating which spread the energy of impacting phaser strikes across the entire ship, greatly increasing the resistance to battle damage.
Uniquely for the time, the vessel employed a three nacelle configuration which1 coupled with the far more powerful warp core allowed considerably greater speeds to be achieved - the Dreadnought was capable of a sustained Warp 10, almost double the speed of a Constitution class vessel.
The first ship, USS Federation, was launched in 2260 with more soon following. Sadly, the most notable incident this class was involved in came when the second ship, the USS Star Empire, was used during an attempted coup against the Federation council. Other Starships, led by the USS Enterprise, were able to defeat the conspiracy with minimal loss of life, but the Federation class was tainted with a reputation of being too militaristic for their name. Nevertheless, twenty vessels of this class were constructed and served with distinction until their retirement in 2296.

THOLIAN
An alpha quadrant species, the Tholians are one of the relatively few major non-Humanoid races in our section of the galaxy. In appearance they are multifaceted solids with two upper limbs and six lower ones. They are accustomed to a very high temperature, and are comfortable in well over two hundred degrees celsius. Anything less than one hundred and fifty degrees is very painful to a Tholian and temperatures below one hundred are fatal within seconds. All Tholians has aspects of both male and female physiology, and gender pronouns should not be used when talking to or about them. Tholians tend to be aggressive, territorial and extremely punctual beings who do not welcome intrusions into their space.
The USS Enterprise encountered the Tholians in 2268 whilst it was investigating the loss of the USS Defiant in an interphase region. The Tholians demanded an explanation for the Starship's presence, and initially agreed to allow the Enterprise to remain in the area. When the ship was unable to provide proof of the Defiant's presence in the area the Tholians attacked the ship. The Enterprise proved militarily superior to the Tholian vessels, but was almost trapped within one of the force field webs - a system designed to enclose a vessel within a network virtually unbreakable strands.
In 2353 the Tholians attacked and nearly destroyed a Federation starbase, killing all but one of its complement. As recently as 2355 tensions remained high enough that Starfleet routinely trained against Tholian warships in simulations. Tensions remained sufficiently high that it was feared that they might become involved in the Klingon civil war, but eventually relations with the Federation were established and in 2371 a Tholian Ambassador visited Deep Space Nine. A Tholian observer was present at the ill fated Antwerp conference on Earth in 2372 when a bomb destroyed the conference hall. Tholian silk is highly prized and difficult to obtain.
Tholians are capable of emitting communications signals directly from their body, though these can only be detected over a very small range.
In 2155 the Tholians of the Mirror universe used a tri-cobalt device to open up an interphase rift, hoping to use a distress call to lure a ship from a parallel dimension - and even another time - through to their own space so that they could capture it. The plan succeeded, and the Tholians captured Starfleet's USS Defiant. However, before they were able to make use of the ship the Mirror NX-01, ISS Enterprise, was able to capture the Defiant. The Empire benefited greatly from the advanced technology of the Federation starship.

Crio's Trivia Corner
===From the Office of Captain Crio Ijoula --- USS Terrasect===
I only had three submissions this week... At this time, I'd like to encourage EVERYONE to send submissions for trivia.
==============================
The last question was based from the logs of Captain Kathryn Janeway, and had a difficulty level of 4.
=/\= Voyager encountered a Klingon battle cruiser in the Delta Quadrant, who were searching for who or what?
<ANSWER>
Specifically, they were searching for a savior, who they called the Ku-Va-Moch. This savior would lead them to a new home. I will give credit for those who said Messiah.
Correct answers received by:
Lt. Anarra Danrea
Lt. Zandile Rey-Baccus
Cmdr. Vanessa Lucifel
*Eager-Beaver question*
Why did the Klingons destroy their own ship?
<ANSWER>
According to the beliefs of the Klingon crew, it was the last vestige of the corrupt empire, and it had to be discarded once the Ku-Va-Moch or savior was found.
The submissions that I received said that they destroyed their ship so they could be closer to their savior. That came as a consequence of their destroying their ship, and was not the main reason behind it. However, I will give partial credit for those answers.
Partial credit given to:
Lt. Anarra Danrea
Lt. Zandile Rey-Baccus
Cmdr. Vanessa Lucifel
* The above trivia was based on the episode "Prophecy" (VGR) *
==============================
This week, I'm going to give two trivia questions, in addition to the Eager-Beaver one.
The first question carries a difficulty level of 4, and comes from the logs of Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
=/\= Who is the ONLY person that Captain Picard dreads seeing onboard the USS Enterprise, and will go to great lengths to avoid?
The second question carries a difficulty level of 3, and also comes from the logs of Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
=/\= What technology found on the planet Iconia ends up being destroyed, and who else is interested in this technology?
*Eager-Beaver Question*
Picard's friend, Captain Donald Varley, commanded what Federation starship, and what destroyed that ship?
==============================
Thank you for supporting Crio's Trivia Corner
The answer will appear in next week's edition of the UF Weekly newsletter. Good luck to everyone.
As always, please email your answers or guesses to chrisdeel@aol.com Please put either "Trivia", or "Crio's Trivia Corner" in the subject line

Top Ten Reasons Star Trek is better than Star Wars
10. Q Continuum puts Vader on trial for Luke's back child support -- legal fees bankrupt The Empire
9. Klingons vs. Storm troopers: No Contest.
8. C3P0 - only being in the known universe even MORE insufferable than Ensign Wesley Crusher
7. A WARRIOR does not need a light saber to take a man's arm off in a bar fight.
6. Luke watches droid and hairy ape play holochess; Riker has holosex with New Orleans Barfly.
5. Star Wars: Princess Leia. Star Trek: Chapel, Uhura, Crusher, Troi, Rand (I could go on but you get the point).
4. Bird of Prey uncloaks, fires into Death Star vent, Romulans get home in time to watch lions eat a few Vulcans. Meanwhile Vader is vaporized while still trying to preflight his TIE fighter.
3. Using the transporter, Away Team rescues Leia while Solo and Skywalker are still trying to find their way out of the hangar bay.
2. Picard has mystical experience with alien artifact, lives entire second life in minutes; Spock has mystical experience wherein he dies and is resurrected; Kirk has mystical experience confronting the source of true evil while searching for God at the edge of the universe. Skywalker has mystical experience with a Muppet in a mud puddle.
1. "Those Star Trek guys keep getting leave on hedonistic pleasure planets, and all we get are these lousy medals!"
