New Poster Sends Clues to Direction of Next Movie
A picture, even a mere image that hints at a broader picture, can instantly give you a snapshot of things to come.
The production team that now holds the creative reins for the next Star Trek movie project has released a piece of artwork this weekend (to coincide with Comic-Con) that provides a Polaroid of an era past, as well as a vision yet to be revealed. With this familiar imagery, the direction of the next movie is now officially open to speculation.
J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof are the film's producers; Bryan Burk, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are executive producers. The film is slated for release in 2008.
The first people to get their hands on this iconic image are those who visit the Paramount Pictures booth this morning at Comic-Con in San Diego.
Three versions of this image are available now as Desktops and AIM Icons.
Several lucky Star Trek fans will win their own copy of this unique poster. Click here to enter for your chance to win!
Stay tuned to STARTREK.COM for continuing coverage about this upcoming feature film.

Alien Corner
VIDIIANS
A Normal Vidiian female.
Encountered by USS Voyager in 2371, the Vidiians suffer from a disease known as "the Phage" which attacks every part of their bodies. The Vidiians have no cure for the Phage, and are forced to replace body parts on a regular basis. Despite possessing advanced medical knowledge, including genetic engineering, the Vidiians apparently lack the ability to clone bodies for replacement parts. They therefore frequently attack other species and steal their organs for transplants.
This has led to the average Vidiian having a wide variety of alien organs and skin on their body, resulting in a hideous 'Frankenstein' appearance. Voyager first encountered the species when two Vidiians stole a lung of Neelix whilst he was on an away mission, and have subsequently attacked the ship or crew on several occasions. Vidiian technology is generally in advance of that of the Federation, making them formidable opponents.
Most Vidiians have gradually replaced most of their body parts
with those of alien species, resulting in a more unusual look
Voyager passed out of Vidiian space sometime after late 2372 but although there was no further direct contact, this was not the last the Federation ship has heard of the species. In 2375 Voyager was contacted by the "Think Tank", a small group of aliens who specialize in solving problems for other species. The Think Tanks representative, Kurros, informed Captain Janeway that his group had recently found a cure for the Vidiian Phage. It can only be hoped that with the end of this great burden on their civilization, the Vidiians returned to a more peaceful lifestyle.

Crio's Trivia Corner
Reprint from 7-9-2006
===From the Office of Captain Crio Ijoula --- USS Terrasect===
==============================
For this next question, I'm going to extend the time frame for answering by the next issue, due to the difficulty level.
This question carries a difficulty level of 5, and is based on one of the movies.
<Star Trek: First Contact>
=/\= What three Enterprise officers set the auto-destruct sequence, and tell me the authorization codes used by each of the officers in question.
*Eager-beaver question*
There is a reference in the movie to Data being "fully functional-programmed in multiple techniques." To what incident in the past was he referring to when answering the Borg Queen's question about how long it had been since he'd used those techniques?
The winners will be posted in the next issue.
==============================
Thank you for supporting Crio's Trivia Corner
The answer will appear in next week's edition of the UF Weekly newsletter. Good luck to everyone.
As always, please email your answers or guesses to chrisdeel@aol.com Please put either "Trivia", or "Crio's Trivia Corner" in the subject line.

12) "Specifications are for the weak and timid!"
11) "This machine is a piece of GAKH! I need dual Pentium processors if I am to do battle with this code!"
10) "You cannot really appreciate Dilbert unless you've read it in the original Klingon."
9) "Indentation?! - I will show you how to indent when I indent your skull!"
8) "What is this talk of 'release'? Klingons do not make software 'releases'. Our software 'escapes' leaving a bloody trail of designers and quality assurance people in its wake."
7) "Klingon function calls do not have 'parameters' - they have 'arguments' - and they ALWAYS WIN THEM."
6) "Debugging? Klingons do not debug. Our software does not coddle the weak."
5) "I have challenged the entire quality assurance team to a Bat-Leth contest. They will not concern us again."
4) "A TRUE Klingon Warrior does not comment his code!"
3) "By filing this SPR you have challenged the honor of my family. Prepare to die!"
2) "You question the worthiness of my code? I should kill you where you stand!"
1) "Our users will know fear and cower before our software! Ship it! Ship it and let them flee like the dogs they are!"
