Around the Fleet
USS Expedition NCC 76227
The Expedition is at Starbase 234 receiving some major upgrades. The crew is on leave, as Doc Valant repairs Lt Aidair’s implant. Meanwhile a priority communiqué from Field Marshall Weslynes has the Commander Lucifel to pay a visit to Admiral Janeway on the Davenport.
USS New York NCC 71868
With the Captains return, the crew’s shore leave has ended, and the New York is off on its next mission. Yet, something seems different about Captain Radaik.
USS Aryes NCC 81204
The investigation into what the Cardassians are doing here has begun, but more importantly the Ocampans have been displaced, and need a new home. The Cardies tip their hand, and are discovered by fighter patrol. After 3 Gal or class jumps the Aryes, they are easily dispatched, but a possible answer is found why the Cardassians are here. Dilithium.
101st Marine Pathfinders
Starbase 14 is once again under siege by the Orions, and a massive fleet is sent in to eradicate them. The 101st is chosen to board the starbase, and wipeout the threat, and recover the last vile of STORM. But the Orions would not fall easily, but in the end the 101st was triumphant.
USS London-A UFMV-16052-B
The London investigated a distress call from a crippled freighter that fell under attack from 3 Orion marauders.
USS Pegasus UFMV 25347
The Pegasus takes on no less then 5 Orion Marauders. They dispatch 3, and capture 1 before the last gives in. The Washington safely reaches Omega Sagitarri IV, but why would the Orions send 5 marauders?
USS Frontier NCC 11385
The Frontier continues to interrogate their prisoner, as the bridge crew track another suspicious echo. This time apparently cloaked, they believe it is the Cardassians again, using a Klingon Bird of Prey. Laying in wait to a hopeless sortie, the Frontier easily disabled their attacker.
Board Sims
USS Vindicator UFMV 16052
Lt Colonel Allen continues to get to know his crew.
USS Terrasect NCC 70000
The Terrasect begins to size up the Ktarnian fleet with a lot of difficulty, as they arrive at Ktarnia Prime.

Alien Corner
KELVANS
The Kelvans in Humanoid form.
Originating in the Andromeda galaxy, the Kelvans are a highly advanced and powerful species possessed of great technology. Their own galaxy is slowly becoming uninhabitable, and so the Kelvans sent out craft to seek new territories to conquer. The ship sent to our own Milky Way galaxy was disabled whilst passing through the energy barrier at the galactic rim, and their small crews were forced to abandon it and proceed in a lifeboat. They landed on a planet and sent out a distress call, which the USS Enterprise responded to.
The Kelvans have the ability to transform the physical shape of living things, and they used this to condense the majority of the Enterprise crew into small solid blocks of a white substance. In this way they were able to quickly seize control of the ship, leaving only a handful of officers to assist in the running of the vessel. The Kelvans modified the engines to allow sustained high speed travel and set a course back to Andromeda, a trip which was expected to take three hundred years.
In order to function more effectively, the Kelvans had assumed a Humanoid appearance. Commander Spock was able to initiate a brief mind meld with one of the Kelvans and determine that their true form was of immense size, with one hundred tentacles like limbs. Their minds were so complex that each limb could simultaneously perform a separate function. Unused to the sensory inputs which came with being Humanoid, the Kelvans soon became somewhat disoriented. The Enterprise crew took advantage of this and was able to set the invaders at one anther's throats, allowing them to regain control of the ship.
Captain Kirk offered Federation help to the Kelvans, pointing out that there were many uninhabited worlds within the Milky Way which they could occupy. Peaceful contact has since been established with the Kelvans, and as of the 2370s Lieutenant Commander Worf had successfully sparred with a Kelvan twice his size on at least a few occasions.

Crio's Trivia Corner
Reprint from 7-9-2006
===From the Office of Captain Crio Ijoula --- USS Terrasect===
==============================
For this next question, I'm going to extend the time frame for answering by the next issue, due to the difficulty level.
This question carries a difficulty level of 5, and is based on one of the movies.
<Star Trek: First Contact>
=/\= What three Enterprise officers set the auto-destruct sequence, and tell me the authorization codes used by each of the officers in question.
*Eager-beaver question*
There is a reference in the movie to Data being "fully functional-programmed in multiple techniques." To what incident in the past was he referring to when answering the Borg Queen's question about how long it had been since he'd used those techniques?
==============================
Thank you for supporting Crio's Trivia Corner
The answer will appear in next week's edition of the UF Weekly newsletter. Good luck to everyone.
As always, please email your answers or guesses to chrisdeel@aol.com Please put either "Trivia", or "Crio's Trivia Corner" in the subject line.
Humor
By Andrus Elbrun
"Wesley"
(sung to the tune of "Windy")
Who's just become the Enterprise helmsman
Despite the fact that Picard hates kids?
Who's here to dazzle us with his genius
Everyone knows it's Wesley!
Who makes us groan when he's on camera
Making us think of "Barney in Space"?
Who should be bound and gagged in a corner?
Everyone knows it's Wesley.
And Wesley gets on the nerves
Of the captain that he serves
We all agree he deserves
An ugly fate (an ugly fate)
We just can't wait (we just can't wait)
The kid has a high IQ
But we wish to God that Q
Would save the day (would save the day)
Take Wes away (take Wes away)
Who knows the meaning of nepotism
Who can kiss butt with the very best?
Who needs a date with some Cardassians?
Everyone shout out--Wesley!

By Lt Annara Danrea
6am – get up, rush through breakfast because your scared of what the night shift did while you were asleep.
6:30 – Arrive in sickbay, rearrange everything because night shift moved it all.
7 – Go over the previous shifts activity, update medical charts.
8 – The rest of the day shift arrives, yell at them for not getting to work early. Start rounds and checking on patients.
9 – check out the medical science lab, and work on experiments.
11 – Explosion in Engineering ties you up for two hours treating patients.
1pm – Finally sit down for a break, get a quick lunch in your office afraid to leave.
2 – captain of your ship gets in a firefight with a cardassian freighter we win, but there is another rush of injured in sickbay. You get angry for the ship being in a battle every week at least.
4 – you are supposed to leave but don’t as the second shift comes on.
5 – you finally finish treating the injured, find that the helm officer has skipped their physical again, go and hunt them down.
6 – treat minor breaks and sprains from a bar brawl in ten forward.
7 – finally return back to sickbay – make rounds again and check out the medical science bay.
8 – finally forced to eat dinner by your AMO
10 – forced out by 3rd shift and the captain who warns you that you are overworking yourself again.
11 – finally go to sleep exhausted
1 am – woken up by the ships rocking, another battle, you rush to sickbay to take charge.
3 am – go back to sleep after the treating of everyone
6:30 – wake up again rushing to sickbay with no breakfast, beginning yet another day.
