A Day off for the Staff? YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!
By Marine Captain Jennifer Morgan
It’s not easy making a newsletter, the e-mails, the stories, counting Tom MacDonells post, it grueling! So I was shocked when I received an e-mail from Field Marshall Jenina Weslynes stating “We are on leave, take a day off, we need no burn outs in the UF”.
So Vanessa, Candela, Ashley, Stephanie, Victoria, Ariel, S’anra, and myself hot wired the USS Caprice NCC-63103, and went to Risa. We had fun, did some shopping, went to the beach, and stopped by a local male stripper joint LOL.
Anyways, to get more to the point, it is hard to do. I’m just the Editor, and I must rely on my staff to get the information. Crio, and Andrus are the best. They are timely, and reliable, so instead of thanking me, thank them. They make the newsletter, and do a damn good job. So share the love folks, Crio’s Corner has become a staple on this newsletter, and he must put in hours to come up with these questions.
Andrus is the best! Without Andrus, we wouldn’t know crap. It is his in depth knowledge that gets most of these reports on the SIM’s, as well as all the humor. Finally….Vanessa, she is the hardest working one here. She does the layout, the interview, and who you think comes up with all these damn graphics?
I am blessed with the hardest working news team in the UF. Without them, we have not so much to report. Not to forget the two members that without them, there would be nothing, Field Marshal Jenina Weslynes (my boss), and Fleet Admiral Jim Harsting. So when you get a chance, thank these members, they do as much work as possible to get this publication posted.
BTW Mike Redman….your fired LOL

Greetings Everyone!
The United Forces Website has successfully been moved to it's new home (Same Address, new Host). I recommend to all members that they clear their Temporary Internet Files (Start Menu>Settings>Control Panel. Double Click Internet Options, and then click "Delete Files" under "Temporary Internet Files"). By doing this, you will ensure you get the current updated site. Anyways, now that the server move is complete, we can now offer member e-mails!
But before we get into that, I wanted to cover some universal e-mail addresses that you can contact different staff members of the United Forces with. They are:
commandstaff@stunitedforces
This one is self explanitory. This sends an email to all members of the United Forces Command Staff.
researchanddevelopment@stunitedforces.com
This sends an email to the Research & Development Staff.
application@stunitedforces.com
This sends an email to the staff that process applications.
unitedforcesweekly@stunitedforces.com
This e-mail sends an email to the entire United Forces Weekly Staff.
Now, for member e-mails. If you would like an @stunitedforces.com e-mail address, there is a new application on the website. It's located under the "Member Resources" Header, and is entitled "Member E-Mail Request Form" (or you can follow the following link: www.stunitedforces.com/uf_mail_form.html).
We offer two types of service (well three if you choose both). The first one is where you use the Webmail Link on the Member's Resources section to access your e-mail. The second option is called "E-Mail Fowarding", which will forward any e-mail sent to that name to your e-mail address. This keeps your private e-mail hidden from the prying eyes of spammers on the internet. The third is a combination of both.
This hopefully is just the beginning of the member benefits we'll be offering everyone in the near future.
Also, I wanted to announce the addition of the United Forces Weekly section on our site. It houses the current issue of the Weekly, as well as acts as an archive!
I hope everyone is well, and thank you all for making the United Forces the greatness it is today!
Fleet Admiral James Archemedes Harsting
From the Desk of Field Marshall J Weslynes
Greetings,
As I told you last week more information would be forth coming on the new sim and her Co. General Hunter was a former member of the UF and her command staff and had to leave due to real life issues. He is a very experience simmer and has severed in many fleets. One of them was the STDW a well known fleet. I ask that everyone welcome him and his crew into the UF.
On another note, Colonel Stevenson was awarded the position of Inspector General. He will start this department soon and will be responsible for giving ovulations of the Co's. His assistance should be back soon and at that time the IG will begin. He will be following guidelines set down by the Command Staff and will answer to them.
The Marine Academy is still working on organization classes in alien close combat. I will keep you all informed of this new course as it develops.

OCAMPANS
This is Kes, a member of the Ocampa species. Little is known about the
fate of her people after the USS Voyager left their home world. Ocampa
are known to have PSI powers, but only live for nine years.
The Ocampa are natives of the Delta Quadrant; they where first encountered by the USS Voyager after that ship was dragged into the region by the entity known to the Ocampa as 'The Caretaker'. Ocampa are humanoid, tending to average approximately 165 cm tall. After birth they mature very rapidly, reaching adulthood within months. By the end of their fourth or fifth year Ocampan females enter the Elogium, when they become fertile for the only time during their lives. During the Elogium a mitral sac forms on the females back ready to house the embryo, and the ipasaphor appears on the palms of their hands. By their seventh year Ocampa are entering old age; they generally live to nine years, although some Ocampa living under unusual environmental conditions have been known to reach fourteen years of age.
At the time of their encounter with the crew of Voyager, most of the Ocampa species had lived in an underground city for the last thousand years. Here, sheltered from the harsh conditions on the surface, the Ocampa lived a life of ease under the guidence of the Caretaker. Although this culture was remarkably stable and peaceful, many of the younger citizens yearned to penetrate to the surface to explore. One such Ocampa, Kes, did in fact manage this only to be captured and enslaved by the Kazon. When the Caretaker died he had stocked the energy reserves of the Ocampa city with sufficient energy to sustain it for five years; after this time they will have to fend for themselves once more.
Although Ocampa have formidable PSI powers, the city dwellers had long ago allowed these abilities to fade through lack of use until they had become all but a myth. However, once Kes had the chance to experiment on board Voyager she began to develop telepathy, telekinesis, precognition and pyrokinesis. Other Ocampa encountered by Voyager had developed these abilities to a tremendous degree, although their powers may have been externally enhanced by the alien being known as Sisperia.
Unfortunately, it seems likely that nothing will ever be known of the fate of the Ocampa. With their home city due to run out of energy in 2376 it is probable that the Kazon will overrun the Ocampa and enslave or destroy them. On the other hand, many societies have demonstrated considerable resiliance when faced with a threat to their freedom, and it is possible that in the long run the loss of their dependance on the Caretaker will prove to be a very positive factor in the development of the Ocampa.

This week's question is a Classic Star Trek (TOS) question with a DL level of 4.
