From the Desk of:
Field Marshal Jenina Weslynes
Greetings,
We the Command Staff have exciting news for our membership. As you all know the Marine side has gone awhile without a DCnC . This is because I wanted to be sure we had the right person for the job and that they were a member in good standing. Well last night aboard the USS Pegasus the new DCnC was installed.
Let us all welcome Lt. General Randal P Hook into the command staff and as its newest member. Many of your already know him, and he's been in the United Forces before we opened our doors. He is one of the original members of the Pegasus and was there for her Maiden Launch. He has worked tirelessly for the United Forces behind the scenes, never asking for recognition or promotions.
General Hook I look forward to working with you and know you will do and bring good things to United Forces.
Thank you,
FMar J Weslynes
Founder and Co CnC
From the Desk of Fleet Admiral Harsting
Greetings new and old members alike!
Many of you may notice that our website currently has ads on it, as well as parts of our message boards (on the side bars).
The purpose of this is to recover revenue to pay for the site hosting. Since the United Force's inception, either I or Field Marshal Weslynes have paid a total of $228 out of pocket of unrecovered money to host our site, keep our domain name, etc.
Seeing as the United Forces is important to us, this is trivial. However, due to change of job for me, and after upgrading to a new host, our costs have also increased while funds have not. But you can help.
These ads on our site are pay-per-click. I ask the members of the United Forces to click on the ads once every time you visit the site. You don't have to order anything or complete any of the offers- Simply click on an ad once a visit.
This of course is appreciated, and will allow us to bring more services to the website, as well as boards. These ads may be added or removed at various times, depending on the needs to pay for the site.
You're help of course is appreciated!
We are currently planning to add a Member Area to our website, which will benefit everyone. This area will include areas for member profiles, possible e-mail addresses, and of course rosters that will be able to be updated by the Commanding Officers. This will take a large burden off of the administrators as far as trying to keep the rosters perfect, but will of course make things more dynamic on the website. I would like to thank "Ens Zeven", who has joined my staff, in his endeavor to bring this site functionality to fruitation.
Beyond this, I would like to thank everyone for making the United Forces such a good group. We are nothing without our members, and I wanted to tell everyone that it is acknowledged not only by me, but the entire Command Staff.
A final note: I want to personally congratulate and welcome Lieutenant General Randal Hook to our Command Staff. He will be filling the roll of Marine Deputy Commander In Chief under Field Marshal Weslynes. Keep up the good work!
Thank you all, and have fun!

Character Development
Sure she looks great, but who the heck is she?
By Marine Captain Jennifer Morgan
Well it’s June, and the action thru the boards, and the SIM’s are becoming that much more important. This is the time to develop your character (myself included).
Seems of late most of the members in the Recruit room have been sharing much more about their culture, background, and some cool biographical information. Great stuff in the room, but it needs to be augmented in the boards. This is the stuff that brings your character out in the foreground, not the cool avatar, and just showing up for the SIMS.
I haven’t been here long myself, yet quite a few new members have made an impression already. With the boards improving, as well as the new changes on the Webpage (version 3.03), the UF if bubbling over with a lot of unique characters, from a number of races that have interesting origins.
Speaking of races, the crew of the Pegasus has finished their story line involving the UF first member created race. Field Marshall Weslynes had created the Colissians, and developed their back story, appearance, culture, and physiology. With the help of Commander Lucifel, we even gave them a face, and a home. These are exciting times, Lt J’Den has a storyline running on the Expedition. Storylines are important for the fleet, thus we don’t have to rely on your CO’s creativity, and it’s your chance to do your very own Star Trek episode (Take that Paramount).
So let’s be creative this summer, bring out those unique abilities, and those little quirks about your character. And by the way Field Marshall Weslynes, yes Stephanie can sleep on her stomach LOL.
Interview
By LtCdr Vanessa A Lucifel
Lieutenant Ozmunde von Merr, he is one of the most unique characters in the UF, as well as well liked. Whether on a away team on the Expedition, or cursing the replicator for not giving him ice with his Dr Pepper, Ozmunde has let his presence known, and for the good.
I rarely get to do new members, and Ozmunde was doing his usual appearance in the recruit room, and asked him for an interview.
Cadet V Yates: When did you join the UF?
Ozmunde I: :: sits strait in his chair attentive to questions::
Ozmunde I: I am not sure of your star date ... I have never under stood just how that works
Ozmunde I: but I joined the UF this past month
Cadet V Yates: Don't worry, Star dates not needed. What was the draw to joining?
Ozmunde I: I was drawn to the action at first ... now to those connections I have made
Ozmunde I: I am an engineer by training ... but my father insisted that I join the Phealon military
Cadet V Yates: How did you end up on the Expedition?
Ozmunde I: now since the Empire has joined the Federation and our military has been integrated with Star Fleet I looked for a good berth
Ozmunde I: the Expedition had an opening for the Marine Executive Officer ... I applied and was fortunate enough to be accepted
Cadet V Yates: Your character has been assimilating to humans for quite awhile, any behavior that really intrigue you?
Ozmunde I: hmmm ...a good question
Ozmunde I: Huuumaans are very like the Drink Dr Pepper
Ozmunde I: they are sweet, bubbly and insidiously ingratiating
Ozmunde I: I suppose that is why you control so much of space
Cadet V Yates: ::Laughs:: I also see you like Dr Pepper, any reason for that?
Ozmunde I: I came to enjoy it when I went to Star Fleet Academy on your Earth .. The city of San Francisco
Ozmunde I: that is where I developed a taste for your Chinese food
Cadet V Yates: Well the academy is famous for their Root Beer. I guess the Dr Pepper is a close match. And Chinese food is a give in. Any characters impress you?
Ozmunde I: Lt Nicolia Vasilev my commander ... two enlisted personnel ... PFC Maxx Gunn and Tom MacDonell
Ozmunde I: and a Romulan Pirates who came by once
Cadet V Yates: Good picks, and quite impressive choices. Any future plans for Ozmunde that you know of?
Ozmunde I: Colonel Artemus is very interesting also
Ozmunde I: Fleet Admiral ... not so ... all Officers seek to be Fleet Admiral Yes
Ozmunde I: actually I just seek to serve well ... it is my families honor to serve and serve well
Cadet V Yates: Well, considering you’re a Marine, I'd shoot for Field Marshall LOL. OK favorite Star Trek series.
Ozmunde I: The Original and DS9 ... I cut my teeth as a youth watching the Original series when it first aired
Cadet V Yates: Alright, my pick! Favorite character?
Ozmunde I: and DS 9 because of the Characters ... I loved Odo, and Quark the inter play was great
Ozmunde I: My favorite character is Odo
Ozmunde I: the eternal outsider who tries to fit in
Cadet V Yates: Great pick, I agree with your assessment.
Cadet V Yates: Thank you Ozmunde, I think you character will be a constant fixture for the UF.
Ozmunde I: Thank you commander :: nods his head in salute ::
Cadet V Yates: ::Returns Salute::

HUNTERS
The second species to travel through the wormhole from the Gamma Quadrant, "Hunters" is the only name ever given for this species. The Hunters are a technologically advanced species who regard the pursuit of prey as the most honorable endeavor in their culture. To this end they have created the Tosk, a sentient being designed to be one of the most difficult quarry possible.
When a Tosk took refuge on Deep Space Nine after his ship was damaged during a hunt, a Hunter ship attacked the station and reversed its shield polarity. This allowed the Hunters to beam aboard, provoking a fire fight on the Promenade. The Hunters proved to be a difficult enemy - their clothing included some form of armor or shielding system located on the right arm which allowed them to intercept much of the fire directed at them. Even when they were hit, they proved highly resistant to phaser energy. Even direct hits at level six did little more than cause a mild stunning effect, although it is not known if this is a result of some protective property of the Hunters clothing or an inherent property of their physique.
Physically, the Hunters are Humanoid but - like the Tosk - have green skin and bony ridges on their foreheads. They differ from the Tosk largely in that their ridges are less extensive and less pronounced, and they have cranial hair.
The Hunters own weapons were highly destructive, but they restricted their fire to only that absolutely necessary and no Federation or Bajoran casualties resulted from this incident. After the incident the Hunters agreed to place the Wormhole out of bounds for future hunts so as to prevent further conflicts with Alpha Quadrant forces
Board news
The last count was taken at 2:45 pm, on June 3, 2006. This week’s count was taken at 12:35 pm, June 10, 2006. When doing the counts I leave out the board Sims for a counting of sim placement based on the fact this is how they sim. And would be unfair to the live Sims.
The total number of new postings increased from 9,018 to 9,431, for a total increase of 418 postings of the live Sims and general areas.

Crio’s Corner
===From the Office of Captain Crio Ijoula --- USS Terrasect===
Thanks for all the entries submitted to last week's trivia. I look forward to continued participation, and hearing from more of you.
==============================
Last week's question was a Star Trek: The Next Generation question, with a DL level of 4.
=/\= The Enterprise-D and her crew became caught in what kind of spatial anomaly in the Typhon Expanse?
<ANSWER>
A temporal causality loop
Correct answer received by:
Fleet Admiral James Harsting
Commander Vanessa Lucifel
Persons who received a hint and answered correctly:
Lieutenant J'Den
I am awarding partial credit to:
Lieutenant Anarra Danrea
Ensign Tom MacDonell
* The reason for partial credit, was because you were partly right, with the guess of a "Time Loop Vortex." That answer is partially correct, however not entirely accurate.
---
For you eager-beavers, what Stardate was used in conjunction with that mission, along with the correct TNG episode where these events took place.
** Please note, when I say "for you eager-beavers", this is not to be viewed as a question that everybody is required to answer to get credit in the trivia contest. It is designed to challenge those who are interested in trivia that is more difficult, yet related in some way to the main question for that given week.
<ANSWER>
"Cause and Effect"
(TNG-Season 5)
Stardate: 45652.1
Correct answers received by:
Fleet Admiral James Harsting
Commander Vanessa Lucifel
Lieutenant Anarra Danrea
Ensign Tom MacDonell
Overall, very nicely done. In addition, I'm happy that we could get Fleet Admiral Harsting to participate.

This week's question is a Classic Star Trek (TOS) question with a DL level of 3.
=/\= Interstellar merchant Cyrano Jones introduced Lieutenant Uhura and Ensign Chekov, and by extension, the rest of the crew of the USS Enterprise, to what prolific creatures, and what mission did these creatures later on endanger?
"Eager-beaver Question" **
According to the bridge log recording, what solution to the infestation onboard the USS Enterprise did Chief Engineer Scott come up with to provide the creatures referred to above with "a very good home"? Additionally, tell me the name of the grain that was stored in mass quantities onboard the space station that the Enterprise was orbiting at the time.
** I need to clarify a point on the "Eager-beaver" questions. From now on, in order to get credit for this part, you MUST correctly answer the first question, otherwise I will not count your guesses to the "Eager-beaver" questions.
==============================
Thank you for supporting Crio's Trivia Corner
The answer will appear in next week's edition of the UF Weekly newsletter. Good luck to everyone.
As always, please email your answers or guesses to chrisdeel@aol.com Please put either "Trivia", or "Crio's Trivia Corner" in the subject line.
