Board sims
USS Vindicator NCC 16052
The USS Vindicator is once again simming. And the members of this sim have resumed posting.
The forces on the surface both security and Marines have begun the grim task of taking care of the fallen commardes. And the Medical staff is working overtime to care for the injuried.
The exact reason for the Lyran forces to attack is still unknown at this time. However, the evidence suggest that they were attempting to get Federation technology.
Captain Dorius and her team known as "Team Raven", have begun to repair the shuttle which receive damage on her last mission. It was that mission where Team Raven took down the Lyran Shuttle attempting to escape.
Communcations are still down and its believed that the Lyran cruiser is still in orbit. The Vindicator was ordered to assume an orbit that would keep her out of detection of the Lyran cruiser until the ground forces return.
USS Terrasect NCC 70000
The Terrasect will be moving away from the RNZ, to complete its original mission and for the analysis of the debris taken on board. In addition they discovered that pirate activity was seen in the area and released a warning buoy.
The Admiral will have a meeting with his senior officers to assess the situation. We wish him well.

Important Memo from the
Desk of Fleet Admiral James A. Harsting-Sonhi
Regarding: The New Year and Multiple Characters in the United Forces
Greetings,
It's nearing the end of the year. The change to 2006 will also bring about the change in date in the United Forces to 2386. Our Stardate Counter on our site will change from 62xxx to 63xxx. And I have to say I'm looking forward to celebrating the one year anniversary of the United Forces as January ends next month.
Our group is growing. We have many active simmers, some with two or more characters. I nor anyone on the Command Staff can see ourselves going against this in the foreseeable future, as it presents a bit of freedom, and allows our simmers to play on multiple ships. As well as allows our members to Sim as much as they want.
However, with so many persons playing multiple characters, we're starting more and more to have a dilemma, in that a person might be using one screen name for two, three, or more characters.
Thus, I am asking that persons with multiple characters reevaluated their Screen Name usage for sims. If you are able to download and use AIM, please create new names on AIM that will allow you to show the difference in characters. Let me reiterate, it is not a requirement for existing members. However, any member who joins or creates a new character after 01/01/2006, will be required to create additional screen name(s) for new characters in simming environments. This will policy will also branch to user names on the United Forces Message Boards.
If anyone has any questions on this, please feel free to contact myself or Fleet General Weslynes.
Happy Holidays to everyone, and I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year.
Fleet Admiral James A. Harsting-Sonhi
Co-CinC, Naval Commandant
CO, USS Terrasect NCC-70000

The United Forces
How many times have we joined a group, community, or organization and wondered how it came into being and other things. If any of you are like me you have wondered about things like this. Well in that spirit I have decided to give a weekly insight into what was happening and how it came into being.
A year ago two generals were in the old aol chat room, ten forward . Both were discussing the way Marines were typically being treated and they were very upset. See each sim group saw marines as nothing more then cannon fodder, or a secuity team, belonging to the founder to be used in anyway he/she felt like it. Promo's were exceeding rear, recongization what was that, and considered to be bluntly not very intelligent. This was about the tenth discussion of this nature. At the time I was a 4 star General and General Levy a 3 star general were very close to resigning and giving up simming entirely.
General Levy already pitched the idea no less then 6 times, that they begin a group together with Weslynes as the CnC and both of them as founders. Jen as her typical self looked at this idea with skeptism and self doubt. But in her mind the idea was firmly rooted. For a group where Marines were treated with the same respect and equally with the fleet.
Next week how that rooted idea took its first shape and its first baby step. And starting next week we will be listing who entered the UF and is still here.

Interview
This member who is chosen for this, is entirely at random and unknown to the member until my famous IM introduction of "your my latest victim lol".
This week's victim is Ensign Zandile Rey of the USS New York NCC 71868. She is the helms woman.
Laughalot1234567 [1:02 P.M.]: I'm the latest victim?
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:03 P.M.]: Good afternoon Ensign Zandile Rey. And yes you are the latest victim.
Laughalot1234567 [1:04 P.M.]: Good afternoon. ::Runs around screaming noooo!::
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:04 P.M.]: I'll try to be kind
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:04 P.M.]: ::smiles::
Laughalot1234567 [1:04 P.M.]: ok
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:07 P.M.]: Your stationed on the USS New York NCC 71868. This ship is the only one in Star Fleet to be CO'ed by a Romulan. What do you think of her command style and of serving under a Romulan?
Laughalot1234567 [1:09 P.M.]: Captain Radiak is a good captain, and I haven't noticed many differences, except the use of Romulan terms in daily conversation.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:10 P.M.]: Why did you join Star Fleet? And what do you hope to bring to it and to take with you?
Laughalot1234567 [1:12 P.M.]: I joined cause I wanted to. I wanted a job that put to use my varied interests. I also wanted to travel. I hope that Star Fleet makes me a wiser person, but I don't plan to retire for a very long time.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:13 P.M.]: Your the helms woman on the New York. What is the most challenging and most fulfilling part of your position?
Laughalot1234567 [1:15 P.M.]: I had never served at helm before this assignment, so it was a challenge getting used to it. I like being on the bridge, though, and seeing the action as it happens.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:16 P.M.]: Now that you've done helm for awhile what do you think of it?
Laughalot1234567 [1:18 P.M.]: I still like being on the bridge, but I would like to maybe have a postition where I could get up and walk around. I am stuck at that station the whole time. I hope to get transferred back to security sometime.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:20 P.M.]: What interest and hobbies do you enjoy? And to these assist you as a Star Fleet officer and in your current position?
Laughalot1234567 [1:23 P.M.]: I like to train on the holodeck... yoga, combat training, etc. I also like to read and cook. I don't know how these hobbies help me at helm, but combat training is always useful.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:24 P.M.]: Normally I would ask if there was a special someone in your life. But I recently heard your engaged. Would you like to tell the membership?
Laughalot1234567 [1:25 P.M.]: I'm engaged to Tyler Baccus, the CSEC of the New York. He asked me last monday before our ship's holiday party.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:26 P.M.]: Congratulations on your engagement. Let us know when you have your plans set.
Laughalot1234567 [1:27 P.M.]: We don't have anything set in stone, but everyone is invited.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:28 P.M.]: One final question is there anything you would added, changed, or removed from the United Forces?
Laughalot1234567 [1:29 P.M.]: I can't think of anything at the moment, but I would get faster internet if I could, so I could sim without the lag time.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:30 P.M.]: ::smiles:: Understood. Well thank you very much for your time and have a wonderful day.
Laughalot1234567 [1:31 P.M.]: Thank you. Have a good day, as well.
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:31 P.M.]: see that wasn't so bad
Laughalot1234567 [1:31 P.M.]: That wasn't so painful
Laughalot1234567 [1:32 P.M.]: Between donating blood and having a broken jaw. (LOL, just kidding)
Jenina Weslynes1 [1:32 P.M.]: ::laughs:: not at all.

Antedeans
Antedeans are a Ichthyohumanoid species which are fish like in appearance, with purplish-silver scales. Their home world is nearly landless with wide ocean expenses. Their level of technology is surprising considering the lack of resources, land and amphibious lifestyle.
The natives of Antede III have been seen by very few humans their preferred method of space transport is to enter into a self-induced catatonic state with their eyes half shut. Upon awaking which takes several hours their eyes fully open and they proceed to eat large quantities of vermicula.
On star date 42859.2, several Antedeans were revealed by Ambassador Lwaxanan Troi to be conspirator assassins sent to destroy the Federation membership conference on Pacifica.

Board news
Total postings to date 4,021 that's quite an increase, over 50 new postings, considering this is a holiday week and so many of our members are away. Great job to all the members who are home and took time out of this very busy season to post on the boards. Your the reason the United Forces is as great as it is.
Since our last newsletter dated December 23 the following activity was recorded on the boards.
The USS Pegasus NCC 25347 once again took top position for the number of postings. General Weslynes remains very proud of her crew, who she knew could do it.
The USS Frontier NCC 11385 was so close to taking that position from the USS Pegasus. As the Terrans have been quoted saying, "By a hairs breath."
In the Training Center, Ensign Micheal Cordello of the USS Pegasus completed his most difficult obstacle course from his academy days. Way to go Ensign.
In the Scenario section, 1st Lt Sandra Iverson of the 101st Marine Pathfinders joins the rank of those officers who have completed all eight scenarios. Great job Lt Iverson.
