Hearing Greyhouse comment that she's been cleared for duty, and would accept any position that he saw her fit to be placed, he gave her a nod, not missing the bright smile she gave both him and the commander
He turned to Crio, speaking privately for a couple moments. Turning back to Kestra, he commented "We've lost our Security Chief. It would benefit both us and the ship if you were to accept the Position." He paused to await her answer

"I will accept the position, sir. Just let me change uniforms and I will report in." Was what she said to him with a smile.

He nods at Kestral then glanced to Crio to see if he had anything to add.
When it became apparent that the commander had nothing to add, he turned back to Kestral. "Very Well. You may report in after changing into a new uniform. Dismissed." He said, casually, still eyeing the attractive jr Lt.

((OOC: I didn't realize I could/should respond to that last part... Whoops!))
"Please check in with me, as I'll have some instructions for you, when you're ready for duty. And, welcome back."
He smiled at Kestral and kept his voice down so that only she would hear him, aside from the captain.
After watching her head for the turbolift, he glanced to the Grabfoot. "I'll fill her in on the security request I voiced earlier, if you're okay with that, sir. I'm also still holding out hope that Hans can give me some more details on what's happened."

He was concentrating on watching his crew work studying the new ones so he almost jumped out of his skin when a familiar voice skope from behind. He turned a smile already growing on his face. " Hmn well seems everything is in order at the moment. How was your Shore leave?"He realized she already answered his question as he had ask it before talk about busy wih your work he turned toward the main Engineering Console and began making adjustments ." I knows I ask that already. My apologies. Someone needs to teach starbase personell how to calibrate a Starships systems better than the true specs though . would save running time and work on the ships engineering crews."

He turned his attention back to Crio, after Kestral left, giving the commander a nod "That is fine with me, Commander, on both issues. I understand that you're waiting for your Commander Broker to contact you with more details but in the event that he is unable to, we should start looking for our own clues, and setting up our own security net, in attempt to locate Jim. Agreed?" He asked the commander, hoping he would agree. If he didn't he was welcome to suggest something else
Another thing that bugged him, calling Captain Harsting by his first name. Jim may be his former captain, but he is still a captain, retired or not.. and this is still his ship, in his opinion

He would nod slowly, listening carefully.
"True... The sooner we can get there, the better chance we have of finding clues for ourselves."
While not a mind-reader, he did pick up on his captain's uneasiness about referring to Captain Harsting by his first name.
"I'll work on referring to him as 'Captain Harsting', for the sake of the crew as well as your comfort, despite having known him for as long as I have." He didn't feel it important to add that it's rare for friendships between joined Trills to survive the death of the host where that friendship began. One of such rare examples that Crio immediately could think of was that Starfleet Captain Benjamin Sisko had that spanned many years and with three different Dax hosts.
"I have put together a rough briefing for the senior staff on what's happened." He then hands him a PADD, and continues, "I don't think I've missed anything outside of not officially being ordered to join the search."
The PADD that had his 'rough' briefing, was surprisingly thorough on what's known about Harsting, and the most recent security notes.

She left the bridge to change and came back moments later knowing full well that she was going to have to be breifed on security for the ship. Not to mention the security crew was going to have to get use to a new leader. This was going to be an interesting assignment. Once on the bridge again she saw the two in converstation and desided not to intrupt to report in. Instead she loged into the security pannel and began her work as the new cheif knowing that one or the other would break from their converstation when the need came to fill her in on what security needs are present on the ship.

He nodded, as Commander Ijoula understand where he is going and his line of reasoning. He then added to his previous comment "..and perhaps we could find any clues that your commander Broker overlooked or have not found yet." He pondered a brief moment before adding "I am not doubting your ally, commander. I am sure Broker is a very good and thourough officer but I like to examine all angles before coming to a conclusion." Broker could be the same way, he mused
He then waved his hand at Ijoula in a dismissive guesture "It is alright, Commander. I am just getting used to the fact of calling him Jim after so long of calling him Captain or sir." He's still getting used to the fact of being a captain himself. "There are times, when addressing you, commander that I almost call you 'sir' even though you are.. my first officer." He said, hoping the commander would see the humor in his statement
He then taked the padd that is offered, looking it over. Hearing Ijoula, he nodded, then heard the TL doors open again, a couple seconds later he sensed Kestral's return but she stood back as not to interrupt or gain their attention just yet "When the staff meeting commences, I feel I should mention, at some time, that this is not an official mission from Star Fleet, then gain the others' reactions and opinions on said matter. Agreed?"
He didn't want to keep Ijoula too long as he knew Kestral wanted/needed to be briefed in the security details. He waited for what Ijoula thought

He listened intently, sometimes having a difficult time with that. He also nodded with the different items being considered, and he visibly had to fight the urge to burst out laughing at the comment of being referred to as 'sir' despite no longer being his CO's superior officer, when he once had been. It was clear he found that remark funny, too. He also took to heart the remark about making sure to add that this investigation into Harsting's disappearance is not an "official" mission from Starfleet Command.
He would then note that Kestral had come back up to the bridge. He would get up from his seat and head over toward Kestral's station to brief her on the security concerns he has for their coming mission. He would keep his voice down so as not to be heard by everyone else on the bridge.
"We're going into a likely dangerous situation. I'd like to minimize the chances having any unauthorized transmissions or any other problems cropping up. For now, I'd like a Level-3 security alert until further notice, with the possibility of it becoming a Level-2 or a Level-1, depending on what happens. I'd like to have security guards posted to all sensitive areas by time we reach the Terran system."
It wasn't normal for him to want that level of security so early in a mission, and would definitely understand if Kestral had any questions about that. He stayed put by her in case she did.

"Understood Sir. Perhaps you could teach me your ways of calibrating one." Turning her eyes to him with a smile. "Just in case I have to do one then I can have it done the way you like it done Sir." Taking her paw and rub his ear a little. "While we still have time before we get deeper into this mission."

Acting like she was just doing the normal routine of the station she sent out the orders to the rest of the security staff knowing full well that armed guards would be present at the entrance to the bridge momentarily and so she spoke to him like he had just told her how the weather was outside. "You're not worried about officer fatigue because of putting them on alert so early, sir?" She had to ask as she was human and so was a bit of her security staff. She had rotations set up already for who was to be where when and who was to be sleeping, but still there was the chance of having this high of a security alert this early that people would tire while on duty.

He pondered her question about fatigue, and nodded, seeing where she was coming from. Granted, Crio wasn't human either, despite his appearance of being one with the twin lines of spots that ran the sides of his body. Also, the fact that he carried a slug-like lifeform within an abdominal 'pouch' that shared the cumulative knowledge, experiences, and even some personality traits of thirteen other people served to remind him that he wasn't human. Yet, like most of his crewmates, he definitely could get tired.
"Now that you mention it, we should wait for security teams to be deployed once we get deeper into our investigation. However, I'd still like to monitor all transmissions for now..."
He was cut off by the computer's familiar chirp, followed by its feminine voice coming over the bridge speakers.
"Commander Ijoula, you have an incoming Priority One communique from Utopia Planitia on a secure channel."
Crio couldn't believe the timing, and started laughing, remembering an old expression he'd sometimes hear Harsting use, about having just been thinking about calling someone.
"Speaking of which..." he had to fight for a few moments to get his snickering under control. He didn't think he was telepathic or a mind-reader for that matter, but he had a hard time believing this was a coincidence with his thinking about calling Commander Broker.
He glanced over toward the operations station, and Lt. M'Leezz. "Lieutenant, will you route that call through to my office, please?"
Turning back to Kestral, he added in a hushed tone, "I've learned the hard way to not let my guard down when going into a suspicious situation, but in this case, I'm going to try to relax. Keep me updated?"
He made his way toward his office, after nodding to Captain Grabfoot, the look in his eyes showing that he hoped this message might fill in some of the rather large gaps in information from his earlier conversation with Commander Broker as well as the Starfleet bulletin on Captain Harsting's disappearance.

He knew the Commander pretty well or so he'd like to think he did. Usually they saw eye to eye, other times, the commander was confused by his actions and thoughts, as he is with the commander.
Crio had been amused his last comment about calling him "sir". He hadn't voiced his amusement, yet the reaction was there. He wanted to laugh, but he held it in, letting it show in his eyes before going off to discuss things with Kestral.
He turned his attention to M'LLeezz and then Buford for a couple moments, watching them as they performed and responded to information their consoles gave them
He looked at the viewscreen, just as the computer informed Ijoula that he had an incomming communication. A Priorty one from Utopia Planetia. That can be only one thing, a call from Commander Broker.
He stood and turned back to where Kestra and Ijoula were conversing at the Bridge Security Station. THat time he heard a laugh coming from the Commander. He arched a brow, his ears tilting forward as his curiousity rose, wondering what could be so amusing at this particular message
He turned toward M'Leezz as Crio addressed her, asking her to transfer the communique to his office. He gave a slight nod as she done so, turning back to Crio as he crossed from the security station to his office. He saw the hopeful look in the Commander's eyes as Crio looked at him a moment, he returning the glance with an added nod

As he made his way to his office, he noted that Captain Grabfoot was standing and facing him, with what seemed to be some confusion, judging by the look on his face. He figured he should explain to alleviate his confusion.
"My sister would often tell me, 'I was just thinking of calling you when the comm went off,' when I would call her," he said, hoping that would help to explain his laugh at hearing about an incoming call. If not, he'd explain the seemingly long-running joke that followed him around as best as he understood it.
He gave another glance, his eyes saying that if his captain felt it necessary to monitor the message, he could. He didn't mind under the circumstances, having already explained that Broker was a close friend of Ijoula's previous host, Brexen. With that, he strode into his office.
After the doors closed, he went to his desk and tapped a few buttons next to the computer terminal.
"Authorization Ijoula-Alpha-Five-Three," he said knowing that the message would need authorization clearance as it was on a secure channel and Priority One. Moments later, the larger monitor on the wall across from his desk came alive.
(What follows is a joint-post between Commander Ijoula (Brown) and Commander Hans Broker (Blue))
"Commander. How are you?" The man would ask. It could seen, strewn about his desk about 30 different PADDs, and his wall station at the back analyzing some type of wave, which Crio might recognize if he weren't distracted by Hans' face blocking half of the display.
"I'm doing well, Hans. And feel free to call me Crio. You know I've never liked being addressed by my rank by a friend." He would smirk and have a look on his face that Brexen would give him often.
"You know me, all formality and such." He then smirked a bit. "I've been spending the last week going over all of the sensor data in the timeframe of Jim's disappearance." He rubbed his eyes a bit, looking a bit tired. "You can only imagine how many thousands of teraquads of data is recorded every five minutes through the Sol sensor net." He paused.
Crio would nod at that, Brexen's knowledge on that verifying that fact. "For sure. I have the feeling you haven't slept much in this last week, either..." He would pause a moment. "Anything interesting found on the scans?"
He stood up. "I might have... I'm transmitting the data to you now." Pausing momentarily. "There was a two millisecond gravometric distortion at time index 487 near Jupiter Outpost 36." He pressed a button on a PADD, and on the screen appeared a wave pattern, identical to the one on the station in the background. "It might be a sensor glitch, but it's all I could come up with. It didn't match any wave pattern that is available to my security clearance, though there seems to be something in the database. It's all I've been able to find. Everything else seems to check out."
His eyes narrow slightly as he studies the information, blinking once or twice, and then it hit him what he was looking at. "And this showed up at roughly the same time Jim would've been in transit between Spacedock and Earth?"
Hans picked up a PADD, and looked at the reference. "It appeared about 3 hours before he left the Starbase, actually. However, the dopplar shift on it it has its trajectory within 30 degrees of earth in either direction. With only two milliseconds of data, there is not a way to give a more precise readout. The shift commander at Outpost 36 filed it as a sensor glitch, as they were having some sensor issues due to storms on Jupiter at the time. There was a lot of glitches in the record, but none of the glitches had as high of a resolution as this particular scan." He sent other information with it. "The trajectory placed the wave as anywhere from Mercury to Earth to the Asteroid Belt. As I said, with a 2 millisecond blip, it's hard to ascertain it's actual trajectory." He sighed, and Crio could hear him sit. "Do you recognize the wave pattern?"
Crio would nod slowly. "I have seen that energy signature before... nearly three years ago... We were engaged in making formal first contact with the Ktarnian Empire. I'll send you an encrypted packet of information on that encounter, to get you up to speed on those events..." He put his hand over his mouth, having hoped and prayed that he'd never see that signature again, the memories surfacing again of that mission. He then picked up a PADD and entered a few commands into it, sending the data on that encounter to Hans.
Hans began to read over the information. "My God... a Coup'?" He paused another moment. "So the Terrasect was blamed for the destruction?" He sighed a moment. "Are you thinking then that some hardliner came for Jim then?"
He nods. "We were engaged by a vessel from the future that attempted to destroy us, before we even reached our destination. This ship had also 'rescued' a notorious Romulan genocidal 'scientist', if you can call him that.... Either the commander that I dealt with, or the future one would likely have grabbed Jim...and possibly Bri..."
"Bri?" He asked, cocking his head.
"My sister. She served as Terrasect's chief medical officer at the time, and was asked on the contact mission by Jim. The whole team was abducted and we were led to believe initially that they were killed in a shuttle explosion."
"Crio, as your friend... this is too big for one ship. If I were you, I'd contact Starfleet Intelligence or Temporal Investications about this." A serious look was plastered on his face. "I mean it. If we're talking temporal issues... this could involve more than just Jim. I mean, he's a walking encyclopedia. The fact that Starfleet was on his disappearance as quickly as they were as a retired officer is a testament to what he knows."
He sighs softly. "Alright... I'll see about getting in contact with the Field Marshal Weslynes, the commander of the Pegasus... I'll first have to speak with my commanding officer, and see what he thinks... The first time, we had to do things mostly on our own, until it came to pulling Jim's team out."
He nodded slightly. "I'll resume going over the sensor data. If I find anything else, I'll let you know." He managed a small smile. "Good luck, Crio. Let me know if you find anything."
"You got it. Don't be surprised if my commanding officer gets in touch. Not sure if he will, but I imagine this new information will make his fur spike..."
"I'll be waiting. Good hunting. Broker out."
With that, the screen went dark, and Crio sat there in stunned silence... Ever since that fateful encounter, he had hoped that he'd never have to face that matter again... Now, the awful memories surfaced once again with alarming force...
