Deka had rarely seen Delor so excited. He spoke so quickly and with such animation, she found it difficult to keep up. He expounded without pause and it was all she could do to remember the general information about the new equipment. Specific questions would have to wait.
"Hmm, cup holders." She echoed distractedly, taking notes.

"taken a little aback by it all are you?" pacing the main bridge area and finally turning to the drone navigation console." if I understand correctly even the surveillance drone is sizable enough to accoimdate for at least one man to crew it with its own sustainability for up to tweleve days. either way its a fascinating device... i've no idea how it will help us with our umcoming infiltration mission inside the cardassian empire though we do have to make a stop and turn us towards starbase 234 at best speed.. theres just to much going on all at once to manage it all .. and glinn I do hope you are following along this is a very advanced piece of technology to be hiding out in this shuttle bay double security in this sector untill we reach the edge of bajoran controlled space."

"It's quite unbelievable. Not the equipment itself but the fact that they trust us with so much of it at one time. It would make more sense for a number of ships to mission test these. Placing all of them on board one is risky. Increased security notwithstanding, if one saboteur were to slip in, they would lose a sizable investment. Why exactly was Trevious selected? What are they hoping to obtain?
She tapped her comm and ordered the extra security detail.
"Highest rated officers, lieutenant." She told the Bajoran.

Laren was in her officer. She decided to use the free time to reorganize the Security duty roster. She had taken a moment to have one of her favorite deserts. It was at the perfect temperature and she had added cream on top. This, along with her steaming hot coffee would be her reward to herself. Just as she drover her fork in the alert stunned her almost into flipping cream on her uniform. She received her orders, "Highest rated officers, Lieutenant."
"Yes ma'am, " She shot back. "I shall attend to it myself." She turned off the communications link, and put her food back in the replicator for disposal. There would be time enough for 'treats' after the work was done. She tapped her 'comm badge'. "Baxter, Tulaun, and Hartley meet me at the entrance to shuttle bay 2." She closed the link, and began thinking. She knew it always got her in trouble, but trouble be damned. This just didn't feel right in her mind. She had learned the ways of star fleet, and put past feelings aside about Cardassians, but having to work along side them was starting to take its toll. In their culture, secrets were a prized possession. It just frustrated Laren. It seemed like every mission they were assigned felt like a convert op even if it wasn't. Laren had been invited to join Star fleet intelligence, and there was a reason she refused.
Here it was the place that held the big deal 'whatever it was', and not knowing if it was an unstable energy or biological weapon or the secret Cardassian recipe for the fermentation process to produce a perfect bottle of kanar. She had no clue, but she would do her job and her duty. The others had arrive snapping her out of her reverie. She deployed them and tapped her 'comm badge'. "Security detail in place ma'am."

"Acknowledged, lieutenant. I'd like a copy of the detail specifics sent to my desk. Rekalan out." She went back to listening to Delor's stream of information. In fact it was more of a deluge. She hurried to catch up with him before the torrent could overtake her.

Post by Chief Robert Lang on Dec 18, 2010 21:32:24 GMT -5
It didn't take Robert long to get to the shuttle bay. Lang had technical schematics and design running through his head like 'sugar plums' . His imagination of what it could be how much fun it would be to 'modify' a thing or two was cut short. He slammed into a tall and large man. He was huge. The force of the contact knocked Lang down on his rear. "Step aside," Lang ordered. "I have business in there."
"Then I will need to see your orders." The man said plainly. Lang could now see a female officer who had a stern look on her face.
"What orders are you referring to?" [/i]The young Engineer queried.
"The orders from Captain Delor or Commander Rekalan that you are to be admitted in this restricted area."
"Now look here you..." [/i][/b]Robert stopped himself and decided to try a different tac."As Chief Engineer of this boat, I have a duty to look over anything brought on this ship that could be a potential danger."
"Under most circumstances," The officer pointed out. "In this case that is not true sir. With all due respect, my orders are that only Captain and XO are permitted in that room with no exceptions."
"I'm not and exception," He argued. "Its my damned job."
"I was told you would say that," He said half smiling. "I was told to tell you that in this case you are an exception, and if you had a problem with it you should 'comm' Captain Delor or Commander Rekalan."
Now Lang knew that the worst idea would be to call either the Captain or the Commander, and besides he could handle the mouse. "I know you got all the from Tahlandi, call her down here."
"Uh, sir," The officer said awkwardly. "I would suggest you not pursue that course of action."
"You can suggest what you want." He tapped his comm. "Tahlandi, I'm talking to one of your security officer and he is not allow me entry into a crucial area of the ship and impeding me from doing my job. " There was a long pause.
"Good," was what finally came out of his 'comm badge'. "That means they are following my orders."
"Your orders?"[/i][/b] Lang said working up as much righteous indignation as he could. "I am supposed to be in that room, and I'm not moving until I'm given entry." He folded his arms.
"Fine," She said after a long pause. "I'm on my way down."

Nodding at rekalan slowly" and the question? why would starfleet entrust us with this little tidbit of delight? its actually being beta tested and circulated among three ships.. trevious.. hadrian and the new prometheus prototypes.. though I imagine it will come in more handy in our current mission inside cardassian controlled space.. apparently the founders are not entirely finished exacting thier control in the delta quadrant... though it seems safe enough.. there is always more to something than meets the eye." flipping the lighting to half capacity and pulling up the panel with a romulian tal shiar officer and a member of the obsidian order as they discuss plans for expansion into federation space.. slowly detailing the plan to assume the form and shape of federation key officials the data file partially scrambled and broken along the way only halves and chunks of the message actually coming thru-" tracgically thats teh cleanest video anyone has of teh incident shortly after the cardassian informantthat delivered the data file was shot the terminal only transmitted partial code.. our misson infiltration obviously i'll need a course set for the bajor to conduct surveying... yes thats exatly our orders- flashs the false documentation form his PADD and looks around to assure the vessel is prepared for launch ... I assume we may have nosey intrested parties?

" I always assume the worst and most times those assumptions are proven correct. Everyone here has a weakness that can be exploited. They may justify it by saying they do what they do for another's sake but when it comes down to it, they'd be unwilling to fight as hard against their own beliefs as the do for them."
"Chief Lang, for example might feel he has a right to know what's going on, on 'his' ship, but this sense of pride is a simple cover for his belief that because of his skill, no access should be denied to him."
"And while Tahlandi is competent, if she were made to choose, being Bajoran would supersede any loyalty she feels to Starfleet."
"I'll refrain from speculating as to where the line might be drawn for the two of us but I have no doubt, it exists."

tilting his head thinking for a moment.." well taht might well be teh case and there are always chances and opprotunities for peoples talents and loyalities to sway and for people to become heavily misguided even the bajoran with her sense of loyality to duty and the human with his sense of perfection and sensibilities ... thier sense of self will always over ride thier thinking and like any cog in any great machine any are interchangable and replacable in thier entirity.. i would provide you with demonstrartions but heath is no longer in the fleet or illistrate with the talants of the 101 pathfinders but that division operates outside this fleet as well .. needless to say talent and ability is not everythign when it comes ot following orders this hanger is restricted till further notice and untill we reach bajorian occupie.... that is Bajor and her home system and likely past that time we have a small mystery to unravel while we are there and poerhaps evena chance to see what this prototype cnan actually do in action all permitting of course... or do you thinka shake down cruise would be imparitive ? "That depends on how much time we have and whether a shakedown is prudent. Can it be done securely? How much time will there be the ready the crew before we arrive? If there is any possibility of bugs in the system, mechanical or personal, then we should take the time to shake them out."

"hmm" he thinks to himself checking the auxilery systems in the rprocess" well lests see the conspiricy and subsequent communications have been back and forth for months now and there doesnt seem to be any sign of progress change of discovery of the founder in question... no further information aside form the data files on the flight recorders... I imagine that if this creation is as experimental as it seems tobe in nature we could conduct the testing along the way. you are charged with finding a suitable system for a three day shut down and I would assume secure testing ground some where out of the eyes and hands of any government or alliance that would be bound ot get a hand on the craft along the way.. then onto Bbajor to unravel the greater mystery .. according to navigational systems we are three weeks form the boarder of Bajoran territories and of courseonly a short sub light hop into cardassia and so forth .. use your best judgement inform only the engineer atthe moment of the crafts existance with warnings about its secretive nature of course " gulping slightly his Cardassina nature still getting teh best of him when it comes ot handing out information or resources shrugging his shoulders slightly" well we have a mission to conduct and testing to perform find a secure region of space along the way then we will proceed form there in the mean time to the bridge and lets act like nothings happening. folds his arms behind his back after pressing the button sequence to open the main ramp doors- after you Dalin."

Laren strode purposefully down the corridor leading to the shuttle and cargo bay. She carried a PADD clutched against her chest like a missionary clutching a bible. She didn't need to come down and admonish the determined Lieutenant Lang, and she certainly had the desert that she kept getting interrupted from. It was however, and she had to secretly admit it, a 'guilty pleasure' to make life difficult for such an arrogant officer. She stepped towards him with her nose turned upward. This wasn't an easy feat to manage as he was taller than Laren. "You're still here?" She said in mock surprise.

She gave the Gul a nod and preceded him though the doors but shopped short at the tableau that presented itself just outside. Tahlandi and Lang stood nose to nose, or would have if the Bajoran woman had been a bit taller. The difference in height however did not seem to concern her. She was prepared for battle and judging by Lang's expression, he was ready to start one.
"A duel? Oh, please continue," She exclaimed, her mouth twisting in a sarcastic smile. "Is there still time to place a wager?"

Her eyes were shooting daggers at the arrogant Engineer when she heard the Commander. Both their expressions softened and Laren turn with uniform smile. "Oh Commander apologies if you misunderstood." She look quickly over to Lang hoping he would 'play along'. Whatever disagreements they had it should be settled by them and not run to 'teacher'. "He just didn't realize I had assigned some guards for engineering when needed so he wanted to request a detail should the need arise."
