Greetings commanding and first officers of the UF,
You know me as both the Executive Officer of New York and Pegasus. I have, with the approval of the Command staff been given permission to start a multi platform event. I want to point out I have used the word ‘event’ for a reason. This is not a storyline that any of you have to follow, but more an event that can either be used or ignored. I will give you a synopsis of what has gone on, and if you wish to use it feel free and if you don't, that is fine too. If you have questions, I’m just a PM or an email away.
Andrew Shackleford
Synopsis:
The Starship New York has disappeared. Such a thing for most ships would bear investigation, but for New York its even more precarious. New York, Along with Dhivael are the two ships being used as an experiment to see If the Federation and Romulan Star Empire can work together as allies. Unbeknownst to the Federation, and Romulans, the New York was pulled through a rift to an alternate reality. The problem is that the rift was unstable and that more unstable rifts events are happening. The most violent event as of yet is the one witnessed by Pegasus while investigating the disappearance of New York. The event destroyed the Romulan ship the CHr Khallinien. The Pegasus lay crippled and they still have to deal with the Romulans who are already on edge as the New York was equipped with one of their prized cloaking devices.
What has not yet been found out:
We have had ongoing investigations of three renegade groups: The Trinity comprised of rogue members of the Federation Of Planets, The Hatham composed of Romulans, and BachHa' composed of renegade Klingons. In an unprecedented move these groups have been sharing the development of a new technology based on advanced Iconian technology. What each did not realize is that the equipment they were handling was still in operation. Each time they removed a component it caused the delicate balance to be skewed. Eventually when discovered the components will have to be returned and reinstalled properly. I intend on Pegasus to take care of that main story.
The effects:
As of now, the sky’s the limit. There will be rifts opening up from various realities so things can get lost in and come out to menace the ships of our fleet. It is something that can either be incorporated in the sims or just commented on. The effects can be as with the Romulan ship, just the energy wave of an opening or what comes out of it. Once the components are returned things will slowly go back to normality.
Information:
I will be posting on both Pegasus and New York periodic reports from Starfleet along with detailed logs as to how they are handling things and what are the reactions to the event. CO’s will have the option of posting these to add info to their sim or to ignore them and get on with the business of their own stories. All optional.
Starfleet Alert:
There has been an event in Sector Z-6. All starships are ordered to stay clear of that sector until further notice or otherwise ordered.
Admiral Darrel Beechum
Assistant Director, Starfleet Operations
He looked over the short message and let out a low whistle. Darrel had only had this job a week. He'd come over from supply and was told this was a less complicated assignment. He had his fill of reports when he was the head of supply division. It was a far cry from his starship days. The Texan had been know as a ‘gunslinger’ in those days; quick to attack and always ready for action. Now his job was to shuffle weapons uniforms and fuel to ship. Now he felt like a glorified air traffic controller. “Are you troubled about our Romulan friends?”
He turned. It was a familiar voice. The voice of Koval. Koval was a Vulcan assigned for ambassadorial duty, but like most never stuck to the job description. If Darrel didn’t know any better the Vulcan could be titled a ‘thrill seeker’ but Vulcan’s didn’t seek thrills. ‘No,” He said absently. I ..uh was thinking about more.” He paused “Interesting times. No Ambassador, I have faith in Commodore St Claire. He’s been working with the Romulans since the treaty was originally drafted.
“Interesting time?” The Vulcan raised an eyebrow which was indicative of puzzlement by his race. “You do not find the job you have challenging enough?”
“Its plenty challenging, but…” He paused again. “You know..” He paused again. “Maybe you don’t” he said to himself. “Out there.” He pointed to the observation window. “In space, you know in command you can make a difference. Here you still can, but not as well directly.”
The Vulcan regarded him as he stammered through his explanation and then pondered a moment himself trying to grasp what this human was saying. Finally he spoke. “Ripples in the pond Admiral. One small ripple can create a great upheaval. Never underestimate your impact on the universe.”
“You are right, of course.” He bowed and conceded. “But I still reserve the right to growl occasionally." He said with a smile.
“I believe the phrase is 'Your bark is worse than your bite’?” The Vulcan retorted.
Darrel had brought up a cup of coffee to his lips and had work to keep from spraying it on the viewport. He nodded silently to the Vulcan and made a silent prayer that whatever was happening was isolated to one area.
