Sandra walked up to the training center, then down the corridor to the rifle training holodeck. She keyed in her access code and then entered.
She took the first position laying on the ground and then fired at 20 targets. Several required a slight change in the position of her body.
The second part had her Kneeling again a sersies of 20 targerts presented themselves. Half of them requiring a shift in position.
The third part of the progam had her standing and shooting at object that where either flying or moving. She had to alter the position a few times.
As the program ended she placed the safety on and put her rifle so the barrel faced into the ground. Laughing she reminded herself this was not a real rifle.
"Computer compute score." You qualified to use a Compression Phaser Rifle. your score was 52 hits out of 60 targets.
YES!!!! ALRIGHT SANDRA!!! YOU GO GIRL !!!

upset with his inability to hit his prey in the holodeck, Ensign Baccus decides to go back to the basics.
COMPUTER END PROGRAM BACCUS3 AND INITIANE PROGRAM BASIC TRAINING: RIFLE RANGE AND BEGIN
Suddenly I was no longer standing in the forests of earth, I was now standing in the starfleet academy rifle range. I pick up the phase rifle to my left and ask the cadet at the console to begin sequence. The First sequence of 20 targets pop up, and I take care of them with ease hitting 19.
COMPUTER, LEVEL TWO
As the second group of targets come up, my earlier holodeck trouble resurfaces hitting only 11 of 20 targets
COMPUTER, ANALYZE MY PERFORMANCE
55% of targets destroyed, Level failed
Upset with my performance, i asked the computer for help.
COMPUTER, DISPLAY CHARACTER: TRIBBLE, BRIAN
Now with my old rifle instructor from the academy watching me and ready to help i try again
COMPUTER LEVEL TWO
Again stumbling through this time hitting 13 targets I asked Mr. Tribble what i was doing wrong.
"focus your grip more on the rifle, you are jerking upwards when you fire."
now focusing on my grip, i try once again
COMPUTER LEVEL TWO
This time, although now perfect (hitting 17 out of 20) i was satisfied with my performance and decided to retire to my quarters

Computer, begin Rifle Training Program, sequence 24. ::The scenery changes, and Cordello appears to be standing on a moon surface in a BIO suit. A phaser then appears in his hand and he peers around::
::He sees many craters, some huge enough to hide in. His suspicion came true when a person had popped out of one of the craters and fired at him. He jumped; trying to accomplish this simple task on earth would be easy, but in space....the moons gravity caused him to feel like a feather. After what seemed like a lifetime, his feet finally hit the floor. Evidently, he missed the phaser fire by inches:: That was close! ::He adjusts the phaser to emit a tacion beam and fires it at the crater, illuminating it completely. He then sees the enemy running and quickly resets his phaser to emit a standard "stun" beam. He aims, and fires; hitting the shooters leg. The computers voice is heard....:: One hit, in lead; Michael Cordello.
::Then, at that precise moment, more people arose from the crater and began firing; one had just missed hitting his ear. He dropped to the floor and rolled, which again was much harder than normal because of the moons' gravity. He stood up and fired at one of the fighters::
Two Hits, in lead; Michael Cordello, ::The computer notified and then he knew he was now up against three officers. He rose up and fired one down, did a back flip, which was easy to do because he was in space, and missed a beam. He then aimed for another target, however...he heard the computer voice announce something other than what he was expecting:: Two Hits, one against enemy attackers and one against Cordello. In lead; Michael Cordello.
::He'd been shot! Because of safety protocols, he felt no pain but was left with only determination to win. He set his phaser to a multi phasic tonation and stepped away from the crater. He then waited until the three officers were in just the right positions and fired. The beam had fired at all three of them simultaneously::
Let's go, I'm on a role now! ::After the computer sounded his victory, four more enemy fighter's appeared but the fight was interrupted by the Duty Shift Alarm, which Cordello had so carefully remembered to set--he was late for his other duty shift the last time he ran a simulation::
Well, I'll have to finish you four later. Computer end program, ::the scenery changed back to a grid room and Cordello walked out, heading for the bridge::

Christian enters the holodeck::Computer log Pvt.Nivar into sim records and await my signal before starting please.::The monotone voice answers::Yes,Pvt.Nivar.You have been logged into the course registry for attendance.::Christian applies his cammo just the way he was taught in boot, dark colors on the high surfaces and light colors on the deeper surfaces. He checks his rifle, goes over the basics in his mind and then::Computer begin 100 to 500 yard qualification sim please.::The room becomes a firing range, long well kept fields of green stretch out before him,he watches the wind flag and wonders if they put that in just as a sign of respect for those who came before him.He can't imagine having to use a ballistic weapon. He lays into the prone position, his legs at a slight angle to the left.Left leg bent at the knee about 45 degrees, right leg straight out behind him making a line from shoulder to thigh to ankle. His right cheek is pressed against the stock of the rifle,it's butt tight against his shoulder. The first silhouette pops up at 100 yards.::Sight,acquire,squeeze::He mumbled.Target picture was good, breath control was excellent, sight alignment was just the was it should be,and then a slow light squeeze.Light shot forth and into the first target immediately::Excellent.Keep to the basics Christian, stay calm::Another target at 250 yards,he repeated the steps and again scored another hit.Time after time he found his targets until at last the computer spoke up::End of simulation, your score is 100 of 100.Your score has been recorded.A training note has been added to your duty profile private, would you like it read? Um..sure computer::He began scratching the back of his head, puzzled at what it might be::From First Sargent GaLar..reads as follows...whoopie kid,now try learning how to fire a hand phaser without killing your self...end of note on personnel record::The room returns to it's familiar view.Nivar laughs, thinking that there was never a dull moment. He exited the holodeck and promised himself to do well on the hand phaser firing range as well.::
