"Computer, begin First Officer's log, stardate 66030.1, Commander Crio Ijoula recording:
I have just received my new orders -- I'm to take over executive officer duties once again aboard the starship Terrasect. It's been nearly two years since I have set foot aboard her, and it feels almost surreal. I admittedly wonder who the new captain is, as I had previously served under Admiral James Harsting, had recruited me in the first place. I hope I can have a similar dialogue with the new captain...

"First Officer's log, stardate 66049.1:
We have received a distress call from the USS Jackson. It would appear they have come under attack, but we have few details at the moment. From what we have on the message at this point, they are in need of medical and engineering assistance.
We're currently trying to get additional information on long-range scan, but so far, all we have is two additional warp signatures near the Jackson's position. There's no way of knowing if they have any correlation to what happened to the Jackson or not. We are going in, ready to assist...

"First Officer's log, stardate 66138.3:
We have a lead on the Jackson... A malfunctioning communications has been found to be the cause of the subspace distortion activity we've been seeing. It is believed that the Jackson crew used that as a distraction to get away from their attackers. However, in spite of compensating for that distortion, we are unable to get in contact with the Jackson.
Strangely enough, we do have biosign readings on the Jackson, and those came back negative... Where could the crew have possibly gone? Long-range scans show three possible planets within escape pod range, but we have no way of knowing for sure yet if they're capable of supporting life. I'd like to think they can, and that the Jackson crew is on one of them.
The only ways to know for sure will be to either board the Jackson and access her computers directly, or remotely link to her systems and go from there. Deep down, I hope we can find their crew alive and well.
I intend to recommend a salvage and recovery operation for the Jackson... As for the attacking vessels, there are still no current leads on their identities...

"First Officer's log, stardate 66613.1:
In an attempt to learn more about what happened to the Jackson, I have led an away team over to investigate.
So far, I've found information on the attacker, or should I say multiple attackers.
Apparently, we are dealing with some kind of advanced attacking drones that improve themselves...
If any of them come after the Terrasect...

First Officer's log, stardate 66697.9:
While investigating the device that attacked the Jackson, it seems that another device was in hiding to ambush the Terrasect.
My away team has apparently lost voice contact with the ship, due to interference from an energy drain. I hope that they still have the visual link to us...
The same energy drain could be affecting all our communications with our team members, as I have yet to hear from my team...

"First Officer's log, stardate 67462.1:
Shore leave at Starbase 240 proved to be a welcome respite for the crew, but now we have received a communique from the starship Tarawa, indicating energy problems while exploring an unusual spatial rift.
All personnel are being recalled and we'll be on our way to the Tarawa's last known position as soon as they're aboard.
