On behalf of the officers and crew of the starship Tarawa, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you aboard. You may take pride in the fact that you are among the distinguished few among Star fleet ranks to be given such an assignment. I'm am proud to have been given command of such a fine ship and a top notch crew. With your help, Tarawa will blaze a path for others to follow and go "where no one has gone before."

((The following was a message sent to the crew of the Tarawa when she first launched under the Command of Colonel Allen ;D))
INCOMING COMMUNICATION FROM THE USS EXPEDITION NCC-76277
STAR DATE 63665.71
Greetings:
I am Commander Vanessa Ann Lucifel, designer of the Yankee Class. I was approached several months about the prospects of using one of the star ships I've created. The commissioning of the Tarawa is a crowning achievement for me.
The Tarawa is a modified Version of her sister ship the Yankee. Teething problems have been corrected, and she has be fitted especially for Marine duty, as well as her Long Range Carrier service as well. She is based on the Akira class, but her warp engines have been uprated, more advance subsystems, and fire control, and armament to go toe, to toe with any ship.
I take pride in knowing Colonel Allen, and his brave crew will continue to boldly go where the marines would tread. She's an excellent ship, for an excellent crew. On behalf of Fleet Admiral Harsting, and the rest of the United Forces Research & Design team God speed, and the word is given.
Commander Vanessa Ann Lucifel Director of United Forces Research and Development Executive Officer USS Expedition NCC-76277 Director of United Forces Uniform Distribution
