What is the one thing you miss about civilian life?

"One thing I miss. humm Waking up late on a Sunday morning, with the sun shining in my bedroom. The smell of coffee being made. A dog barking in the distance. Ok that was more then one thing."

"I guess the freedom of civilian life."

I ask that question to a lot of people becaue both my parents were in the military. So you might say I never really had a civilian life. Maybe the brief time I was away at school.

"I see. After joining the corps adjusting to military life was hard. Very hard at first. But truth be told I love it. I almost left after David was killed."

"But Weslynes talked to me, and I took an extended leave. Then was I going to resign she asked me to take the Tar on for a few months while she got someone. Been over a year and not looking to leave."

She kissed his cheek, "Especially now."

I joined because it was all I knew and I have to admit that a part of me may have been trying to get out. I'm sure you've read my file. Until Tarawa. I've fought every CO I've ever had and bucked every command I was ever given. If I ddin't have a natural talent as a pilot and parents influencial enough to keep me here I'd have been discharged already. Tarawa though, has been different. Its made me appreciate what I have and given the positoino leadership I was given forced me to see that there are things more important than myself. I don't think I would have been able to deserve a woman like you if it hadn't been for that.

"Yes I read your file. But sometimes you need to read between the lines to see the entire picture. I"m glad you happy here. The Tar seems to have a magic of her own that she weaves."

"Being in a postion of leadership makes us take a good look and do what we have to. And now you'll have Davey. Another one to lead." she laughed softly.

I will admit that my skills as a nentor to a child such as Davy are yet untested, but I look forward to honing them. I'll need a lot of help from his mother though. He smiles.

"He's a good kid, a powerhouse of engry that doesn't slow down. You'll do fine."

She kissed him, "I have to go and pick him up. How about dinner at 6?"

He enters his quarters gears follows him in, "How do you do you it?" Gears asks

"How do keep from being scared?" Gears asks

David puts his big hand on Gears shoulder "Every time I go on a mission I'm scared, scared I will never see my wife or daughter again, I just don't let the fear control me. You can't be a combat Marine with out some fear, any one who says they have none is a lier" he says

Sam enters her Quarter then cleans it up, afters she is done she heads to he shower undress and takes a long shower then goes to bed

Gears nods then leaves to get some sleep, David checks his messages and Video message starts with Beth Ann

Iz have some news me and Ma, an Pa oh and John and Pet are going to Sandoval City - Thales Colony the place y'all picked out was nice but Iz saw this place and fell in love with it

I sold you 1000 acres you bought and bought 2000 acres on Thales Colony were Farmers
Beth says with a smile then she moves and Sara enters the screen

"No worries Little Brother I bought 1000 acres so we have 3000 acres of prime farming land I'm going as well, I left the Diplomatic core well for awhile, in the Colony grows I may see about getting to be the Ambassador to it, if not I may open a club you know how I like to sing Sara blows a kiss then the message pans back butting the whole family in

We Love Y'all see y'all on Thales Colony the message then close in on Beth and K

Beth waves K's little hand We love y'all Honey then making a funny voice I luv y'all Pa Beth makes K say Take care Honey Transport is hear we got go, going to DS5 and from their Thales Colony Beth kisses the screen Iz Luv y'all" she says then the message goes black

David wipes his tear, then showers and goes to sleep

She woke up looking at the time she saw she slept much longer then she wanted. She took a quick shower, stepping out she toweled dryed her hair. She took out her robe and placed it over her arm. Walking into the living area she placed it over the back of a chair.

Sitting at her console she read the messages she had and answered a few from family and friends back home. After a few minutes she sent the following message to Melvin.

I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with later. Zarlena

He woke up after several hours rests, feeling much better then he had in a week

He rose out of bed and was about to shower when his corner console indicated a message. Curious, he went over to see who it was from

He smiled immediately when he found out it was from Zarlena. He read the message and smiled even more

He sent a message back that he would be very happy to join her for dinner and then asked her if there was anything she would like him to bring?

After sending the message, he turned and stepped in the shower area

Stepping out a few minutes later, he got dressed and went to the replicator to order some coffee

After she picked up Davy she went back to her quarters. She put him on the floor with some toys so she could get ready.

She decided on the dinner menu and made sure it had a setting appropriate for Davy. She set the table then picking up Davy she put him in the play pen while she showered and changed.

As he relaxes in his quarters he gets a message from Charlie playing Charlie says you got see this Bro.

He thens plays the forwarded message and smiles"I knew you find some Sis" he says as he watches it
