"You might speak with Arrain Khev. She may share some of her observations with you." She placed the plate of steamed, mixed vegetables on the table. They were not fresh but they were not replicated. "And you are correct that this is a high profile assignment. If you succeed here, it is likely you will be offered a command of your own."

He listed as she informed him "You might speak with Arrain Khev. She may share some of her observations with you."
He raised his left brow slightly, Arrain Khev "The Diplomatic Advisor" he simply stated. He knew she is the bridge to keep relations smooth between the Rihannsu saehnae-a and the Fleet officers aboard the Dhavel "I shall consider it. It shall give me another view to look from other then my own
He watched as she brought a plate of steamed vegetables to the table. They smelled good, and more fresh then replicated vegetables then commented "You are correct that this is a high profile assignment. If you succeed here, it is likely you will be offered a command of your own."
He nodded at that, a smill smile coming to his face again at the prospect of his own command, but then he didn not wish to rush it "I am sure I will obtain my own command when the Elements, and Galae Command, sees that the time is right"
He then decided to switch the topic off if him "I am curious. How are you settling in as Riov of such a ship with Both galae and Fleet Command. I heard you had obtained Command just as I recieved my orders to be Sub Commander"

T'meryl went into her quarters, and after a sonic shower, she dressed in a loose robe. She sat in a chair contemplating eating from the replicator or going to the lounge. After a few minutes, she stood up and walked out the door.

Ignoring the food for the moment, she returned to her tea and leaned back thoughtfully. "Riov Cretak's sudden transfer before we had even completed our shakedown mission was very much unexpected. The reasons for it have never been provided but as it was the head of the Alliance Fleet, General Jenina Weslynes who informed me of both the transfer and my promotion, I think then the request might have been initiated on the side of the Lloannen'galae (Starfleet). I had hoped to learn from the former Riov and gain from his experience."She set the tea down again. "It was my first assignment as Subcommander. I had no experience as Commander." Her look told him that there was no guarantee of service in Galae and he might find himself, without warning, in the same position as she had. "The crew..." She paused. "works well in following orders but they have yet to be in a situation where they must rely and depend solely on one another for survival. It is this type of challenge that determines if they are able to work together as a crew as opposed to individuals." She noticed he had finished with the vegetables and offered him the bread. "The most difficult challenge I see is not that the crew is comprised of members from both fleets, but that they have varying levels of experience and understanding of the Rihannsu culture."

He looked at her with more focus, as she had sat back fully and thoughtfully. Then listened as to her account of how she had became Sub Commander and then unexpectedly to Commander and Riov of the Dhivael "Riov Cretak's sudden transfer before we had even completed our shakedown mission was very much unexpected. The reasons for it have never been provided but as it was the head of the Alliance Fleet, General Jenina Weslynes who informed me of both the transfer and my promotion, I think then the request might have been initiated on the side of the Lloannen'galae (Starfleet). I had hoped to learn from the former Riov and gain from his experience." She set her tea down that she had picked up moments before "It was my first assignment as Subcommander. I had no experience as Commander."
"Learning from a more experienced Commander is always beneficial. His sudden transfer must have been a surprise not only to you but to the rest of the crew as well" He read the look in her eyes: the one that told him that this event could repeat itself. He hoped it would not. He hoped to stay as Sub Commander and learn so when his time comes to step up to Commander, he will have the knowledge to perform his duties well
"The crew..." She paused to consider her words "works well in following orders but they have yet to be in a situation where they must rely and depend solely on one another for survival. It is this type of challenge that determines if they are able to work together as a crew as opposed to individuals."
From this he extrapolated this opinion "This crew is not yet experienced enough to rely and depend on each other but I am sure with your guidance, they will learn to rely on each other" He wanted to add under his guidance and counsel as well but she may not take that addition as he would intend
He graciously took the bread that she offered when he had finished his vegetables, listening as she said "The most difficult challenge I see is not that the crew is comprised of members from both fleets, but that they have varying levels of experience and understanding of the Rihannsu culture."
He looked at her with a hint of amusement in his eyes "I am up to the challenge of giving some experience and teaching those with less experience of our culture so that they have a better understanding"
He looked at her, silently asking if she was up to that particular challenge, amusement still showing in his eyes

She nodded, though her feelings were not as lighthearted as Zareth's. "May the Elements guide us in this endeavour." She reflected on the immensity of this affiliation of races. Who had first conceived of it and why? The Rihannsu and the Federation were the antithesis of one another. One eschewed diversity. The other embraced it. What hopes had Galae and Starfleet Command had for this ship and what fears? She realized she had been silent longer than intended and met Zareth's eyes with a look of encouragement. "It will indeed be a challenge." There was a sharp rap at the door. She raised a questioning eyebrow to Zareth who apparently knew nothing of it either, then excused herself and returned shortly holding a fresh ryllh (mango-like fruit). "A gift from the Daise'Dheno with the station commander's compliments. Well-timed would you not agree?" She sat once more and cut slices from the fruit, serving them both.

He got the impression that she did not share as much humor in the situation. He stamped ahis humor down and pretty much went back to his stony visage
"rhai" ( Agree or Agreed ) he would simply say as she voiced "May the Elements guide us in this endeavour."
He glanced around for something to spread on his bread. He found some honey and he reached for it, bringing it closer to him. He poured a semi generous portion on his bread and then set the honey container done, placing it between him and Liordra, in case she wanted some
He took a bite and reveled in the sweetness of the honey, but he gave no outward indication. He glanced back to her as she had not said anything for a few moments, giving her a questioning lit of his brow, wondering what she was thinking
She met his gaze and he saw the encouragement light up as she said "It will indeed be a challenge."
He gave a nod and was about to comment when he heard a knock on the door. His gaze swiveled over to the door a moment then he looked back to Liordra, silently questioning if she was expecting anyone. He briefly wondered if she had invited another companion to join her at Last Meal. If she had, then the person was late, and that is not very good on his or her part
That idea died, when she saw the same look from Liordra. She excused herself, with a nod from him, to see who the visitor would be
She came back a few moment later with a fresh ryllh in her hands "A gift from the Daise'Dheno with the station commander's compliments. Well-timed would you not agree?"
He gave a nod of agreement "Ie, It is well timed. It seems that timing is a natural gift to the Daise'Dheno"
He took the serving of ryllh with a Hann'yyo and waited until she served herself before he took a bite

As Liordra served the fruit, she drizzled a small amount of honey over her own. She enjoyed sweets, though she considered it a juvenile indulgence. Through this gift, the Chief of Security had conveyed the message that the station commander welcomed them even if he was not in a position to show that support personally.
She bit into the fruit and could not stop herself from smiling. Soon it would be time to celebrate Eitreih'hveinn, the Farmer's Festival, on ch'Rihan. It was a celebration of the blessings of the harvest. It had been several years since she had been able to attend the festival at home and the thought of it was bittersweet. Aboard ship she often thought of the comforts of home, but when she visited ch'Rihan she was always anxious to return to the ship. This time it was different. This time it was her ship.
"If we are granted leave when the inquiry is concluded, will you visit your home or family?" It was as close to a personal question as she would allow herself to ask. He was entitled to his privacy but she was also curious.

As Liordra poured a little honey on her fruit and set it down, he reached for the honey again and done the same, adding a little honey to his fruit as well, but not as much as she
He glanced up as he set the honey down again and saw the smile that Liordra had on her lips, the same smile she had when the rank of Riov was bestowed on her. He thought the smile made her look more attractive then she already is
To take his mind off of that, he thought of home. He thought of his two sisters: Rhiana and Dhael. He has not seen then since he had entered the Military academy but he has gotten messages from them from time to time. Rhiana writing to let him know she had planned to be a maenek and Dhael a afweirrea ( teacher ) at a school she once went too. He pondered how they were doing in their endeavors since it has been some time since he last heard from them
Liordra interrupted his thoughts. He looked at her with surprise in his eyes when she asked "If we are granted leave when the inquiry is concluded, will you visit your home or family?" He looked at her and briefly wondered if she had telepathic abilities, then dismissed that idea as quickly as it came
"The Idea had came to mind as I was just thinking of my two sisters" he told her "I am curious how they are doing since it has been some time since I heard from them" He could tell she was curious and he is just as curious as she

Liordra poured some more tea into her cup, offering to pot to him as well. This meal and the company of Zareth had relaxed her considerably. Her parents who had both served in Galae themselves were accustomed to hearing from her infrequently. She had no siblings. Her intended bondmate, or rather the one whom it was expected she would bond with was a Galae officer as well, though she had little contact with him. Someday perhaps, she would decide to leave the military and choose a more domestic life, but for now it was the farthest thing from her mind.
"Of you and your sisters, are you the eldest?"

He finished his meal and glanced up to see Liordra pour some tea then offer him the tea pot. As he reached for it, his fingers brushed against hers. He glanced at her to see how she would react, an apology forming on his lips, but then he swallowed it just as quick. Why be sorry for something you wanted to do?
As he poured his own tea, he thought of his home life. He had his sister, his parents but no wife, bondmate and was not promised to a woman. Perhaps he would look when his assignment on th Dhivael was up. Perhaps the woman across from him... he stopped that thought in it's tracks
"Do you.." he started to ask if she had any siblings when she asked "Of you and your sisters, are you the eldest?"
"Ie, I am the eldest of myself and my two sisters" he answered

The brush of his hand seemed incidental and perhaps it was but it was guided, from her perspective, by an authentic interest. For now, she chose to overlook it.
"For some the d'talla is a labor, and for some a labor of love. As I did, au made a choice to continue your service. That is commendable. When did au first know that Galae was your preference or was it something au always desired?"

If there was any reaction to his finger brush, she hid it well.
"For some the d'talla is a labor, and for some a labor of love. As I did, au made a choice to continue your service. That is commendable. When did au first know that Galae was your preference or was it something au always desired?"
His brows furrowed a little in thought as he thought of the decision to stay in the service of the galae "It was something I had desired since I was 15 years of age. As eldest, it was my duty to serve but as I neared the completion of the mandatory 5 years, I preferred to stay in to see how far I could go, see how far I could reach with the Elements' blessings" He paused a moment, then said "To challenge myself"

She finished the fruit just as a beep alerted her to an incoming message. She excused herself again and went to her console. As she read the notice there was a flash of anger that quickly cooled. These constant personnel changes made it even more difficult to learn to work as one but her anger would do nothing to improve that. Now, she would need to find a replacement officer as well. She sighed and returned to the dining area. "My apologies for needing to end this meal abruptly, Subcommander." The notification had brought the inquiry and her responsibilities sharply back to mind. "Khnai'ra (Thank you, superior to inferior mode) for accepting my invitation and perhaps, Elements permitting, I will be able to extend another to au soon."

Another message came in just as she finished her fruit and she excused herself again and over to see what the message was. Even thought he thought the interruptions were annoying, he understood, since she is the Riov
A few moments later, She re-entered the room and one glance at her, he sensed the Riov had returned in her "My apologies for needing to end this meal abruptly, Subcommander."
He gave a nod to her, standing politely "The Meal was nearly concluded so I would assume the timing would be right to end it"
"Khnai'ra for accepting my invitation and perhaps, Elements permitting, I will be able to extend another to au soon."
He gave a slight bow with a bit of a smile "It was a pleasure to accept such an invitation. Elements willing, I would graciously accept another should it be extended"
His curiosity peaked suddenly "The last message, it was ship's business or personal"?
Naturally, he would not question further if the message was personal
