STARFLEET SERVICE RECORD
Samuel graduated Starfleet Academy with acceptable grades and marks, with honorable mentions and certificates in Security Law, Security Application, 19th/20th/21st Century History, and Ship/Starbase Security Actions. Sam received a letter from the Commandant of the Academy which accredited him with an almost ‘zealot’ faith in the Federation and in ‘Duty and his Shipmates’. Unfortunately thanks to his grades in Engineering Science and Theory, Temporal Mechanics, Warp Application and several of the Sciences he graduated officially 57th out of his class of 64.
After the Academy, a former Shipmate of his Father’s called in a favor with the Academy Commandant and asked that Sam be posted to his Security Team aboard Starbase 86, where Sam served 8 months. During this time Sam lead a successful defending action against a raiding party by the Dominion.
As formal hostilities broke out with the Dominion, his CO at the Starbase was assigned the Captaincy of a Starship and requested Sam to transfer with him to act as his Chief of Security, which Sam gratefully did, although still only a freshly graduate Ensign.
His new post, which brought the rank of Lieutenant 1st Class, was on the Excelsior Class USS Bull Run, although not sent to ‘the front’ in the war against the Dominion, he spent a lot of time patrolling the Neutral Zone with Cardassia and running escort missions of high value shipments. When Cardassia revolted against the Dominion, The Bull Run was sent to help clean up the few remaining Dominion Ships that didn’t surrender, but again wasn’t placed on the front lines. Sam saw a lot of combat during this time frame.
Once the ‘War’ was over, The Bull Run was assigned back to its old duty of patrolling the Cardassian Neutral Zone, Sam still acted as the Chief of Security aboard her. Unfortunately, it was during one such patrol run when Sam’s entire life and his career took a turn for the worse.
The USS Bull Run was ambushed by a ‘wolf pack’ of Cardassian Extremists who never accepted the surrender and continued to fight on; the Bull Run was attacked by 5 Galor Class vessels. Although ambushed, and the first salvo easily knocking out over 50% of her weaponry , the Bull Run was able to destroy 2 of the Galor Class ships and disable 1 more before becoming disabled herself and being boarded.
As always, Sam led his team from the front and although extremely costly, Sam and the Bull Run’s crew were able to repel the boarders and keep control of the ship until power was restored and the remaining Cardassians warped out. The Bull Run was ‘dead in the water’ for a day until additional Starfleet vessels arrived and she was towed back to Spacedock. The Bull Run lost 197 dead, 214 wounded, 43 missing although presumed dead.
During Sam’s investigation, it was found that the 1st Officer, Commander Tucket (Vice Admiral Tucket’s only son) had been in control on the Bridge and was being lax and uncaring in his duties (as he wanted to be Captain, not the ‘second in command’), which lead to the Bull Run being completely surprised. When confronted, Commander Tucket claimed that it was Sam’s and his Security Force’s fault that the Cardassians were able to board the Bull Run and do the damage they did, and that they were ‘incompetent’ and ‘insufficient in their usefulness’ to be referred to as ‘Starfleet’s finest’. Sam, having lost 49 of his own men, along with scores of friends and comrades and almost losing his lover, so full of anger and hate towards the Commander, that he hauled off and knocked the Commander off his feet, and unconscious, with a stunning punch square in the nose. The strike actually lifted him up off the ground and over the Tactical Display on the Bridge, the Commander landing awkwardly on the Captain’s Chair and then on the Deck.
It was only that the Captain pled his case before a Court Martial panel that Sam was even allowed to dodge prison time and stay in Starfleet (that and 12 of the 16 Bridge Officers that where there when the ambushed happen, backing Sam’s story). Sam was busted, whoever, down to Ensign and lost his post. Sam sat in ‘traction’ for 3 months while another post was being ‘decided’ for him, which he figured would never come or would be sent off to only God knows where.
It was at this time that Sam was transferred to the USS Terrasect, at the request of Admiral James Harsting, where Sam took over duties as Security Chief. Sam spent the next two years under Admiral Harsting.

PERSONAL RECORD
Sam had fallen in love with an inspiring young Engineering Ensign during his time aboard the Bull Run, where she was almost killed before his eyes during the boarding action. She bled out in his arms as she called his name, had it not been for a quick thinking Security Medic, she would have died. This instance, Sam claims, is the reason that they did not get married and he strayed from her, although in her own way Jennifer had saved his life during the boarding action to.

HOBBIES / INTERESTS
Sam enjoys playing Poker and reading history books, along with putting together models of old Earth battle fields. He also made a miniaturized replica of the American Civil War battle of Cold Harbor, which he is always willing to explain and narrate.
Sam also spends a lot of time in the Holodeck working on his Security Programs that he uses to train himself and his Security Teams.
PSYCHOLOGICAL AND MEDICAL EVALUATION
Although Sam is a very capable Officer in his own right, Sam is notorious (as was his father and his grandfather) for his temper and passion. While it may sound like two different things, Grant medical records show that Grant Males may love and care for people with an almost uncanny hand and thoughtfulness, but when their anger takes hold and their tempers flare, it is said that “Even the stars dim from the roar.”
Sam also suffers from an uncharacteristic weakness for his lost love Jennifer, which he was to marry but back out of at the last minute due to the combat action aboard The Bull Run. This instance also has bred in him an intense hatred and zero tolerance for Cardassians, literally hating the Race for all they have done (the attack aboard his ship being the final straw). He’s even been quoted as saying “Let them Die!” when it was discovered that without the Federations help, the Cardassian Empire would wither and die away as a result of the Dominion War.
An excellent benefit, and in some instances a flaw, Sam sports an undying loyalty to his men and his beliefs. This can be seen and proven by his assault of a superior officer when his men were ‘called out’ and the loyal and faithful dead where desecrated. He has always been caring of everyone under his charge and has always felt in Admiral, now Captain, Harsting’s debt for giving a ‘second chance’.
The only medical concern that Sam suffers from results from an injury that he received aboard The Bull Run * Further Record Classified Alpha Level 1*
