Slowly his eyes would open as he felt the look of some one onto him. looking over he would see the Vs. Romulan as well, just as the Captain. A nod was given to him. But still no words where said. Slowly looking back to his padds he would slowly close each one out and would stand.
Slowly he would make his way over to the Co and VS "Mind if I sit with you?" His eyes looked to the two of them as he stood there.

::Ensign Tyler Baccus walked into Ten Foward, his fingers still red and now tingling from his trip to the holodeck, He noticed that Captain Radaik and Ensign Hreinteh were sitting at a table and The Fighter Pilot, Mr. Michael was standing by them speaking with them. Tyler was in a spaghetti mood so he walked over and ordered a big plate along with some garlic bread and a glass of Sweet Tea. He grabbed his food, wincing a little as the hot plate came into contact with his seemingly frozen fingers, and walked over to an empty table, where he sat and began to eat. He had thought of joining the Captain and the others, but he didn't like people watching him eat things like sketti: he was quite sloppy when he ate such things::

As erein Hrienteh sat waiting for his order he noticed the Fighter Pilot look at him and nod.Erein Hrienteh nodded back.He was somewhat surprised to see the pilot approach the table. He stood there for a second and asked,"Mind if I sit with you?" Hrienteh watched as the pilots eyes fixed upon himself and the Riov.It was not his place to invite him too sit down. That decision fell upon Riov Radaik.Hrienteh was sure she would invite him to sit with them however. He knew enough about Riov Radaik to understand if he could sense the pilots inner turmoils she would be well aware of them.Besides Riov Radaik had been an exchange officer for sometime. She would know how too explain the useless waste off energy he spent living with those demons better than he.erein Hrinteh waited. He knew Riov Radaik 's reply would come.

She looked up him and then smiled slightly, swallowing the food in her mouth.
Of course not Lt. She gestured to a chair next to her left. I trust your day went well. erein (ensign) Hrienteh and I were just having ::she hesitated as she searched for the words in standard Federation:: an afternoon snack. You are welcome to try some, Ossoul its a Rihannsu confection, very tart to most Humans. And Kaki-fal a beverage that is as I am sure you call tell is very aromatic. ::slight laugh:: Some say it will clear the sinus and the mind.
You injured your hand. If it is deep I expect you to see the doctor. It will not serve any purpose if it stops you from tending to your duties. True. ::raises an eyebrow and slight nod to emphasis her point.
How are you doing with the additional duty of flight deck engineer and assistant engineer?

He would bow to her and would then sit down "I will not mind to give it a try. I never know I may like it."A smile would be seen on the hard face. They had talked before him and Eviess. He looked to his hand."After here I will be going to see the doc Ma'am." And nod was given"As for well are talk before I am doing better. i thank you for it as well"
he never talked to the other crew but it seemed he was talking to the Roms? Hmm all well let the others think what they will." I hope you are well?" He so was going to try what she was and drink the same stuff.

erein Hrienteh nodded to the LT. as Riov Radaik offered him a chair to her left.Riov Radaik explained to the pilot ::he never asked for his name,he needed too.::far better than Yhea could ever about an afternoon snack. She asked the LT,You are welcome to try some, Ossoul its a Rihannsu confection, very tart to most Humans. And Kaki-fal a beverage that is as I am sure you call tell is very aromatic. ::slight laugh:: Some say it will clear the sinus and the mind. erein Hrienteh listened as she told the LT. she expected him to have his hand looked at.Yhea nodded at this remark. He would be a liability to the ship if the wound got worse or infected. As he looked at the LT. sitting down Hrienteh was surprised to see a smile on his usually cold face.erein Hrienteh was again surprised by his Riovs next response,How are you doing with the additional duty of flight deck engineer and assistant engineer? This showed dedication to duty, and a willingness to learn.Hrienteh's eyebrow raised at this pilot.Maybe he had misjudged his ability to control his demons.Hrienteh realized his rudeness and said,"I am erein::he fumbled for the correct word::''ahh Ensign Hrienteh."He nodded to the pilot."I have seen you here before but we have never been introduced,''erein Hrienteh fumbled for more words,"LT. My deepest apologies for I know not you're name."Hrienteh had made a proper introduction. He simply waited to see if the LT. would respond, and let Riov Radaik start the conversation,it was the proper way too show respect and politeness after all.

He would look to Yhea." Nice to meet you Yhea, Uhlan" He was hopping he had the word right for Ensign in there way of talking. "Mark Michael, but call me Mark. And for the Lt part not needed right now. Off duty and not in uniform"Smiles to Yea."I have always wanted to see the glory of your capital worlds, ch'Rihan and ch'Havran."
he was much into other races but mostly the Rom's. Or the Rihannsu"If my history is right there whereFew survive the voyage, but those few now call themselves Rihannsu...Those five remaining craft were rewarded for their patience with the discovery of a binary pair of habitable worlds orbiting the star 128 Trianguli far from their original homeworld. After some discussion, the worlds were named ch'Rihan and ch'Havran, meaning "of the Declared" and "of the Travellers," in the tongue which the Travellers devloped and aged from the Ancient Vulcan dialect to replace their Vulcan language. In this new tongue, the travellers called themselves "Rihannsu," or "the Declared."
Even in the lush environs of ch'Rihan and ch'Havran, life was hard for the settlers. Disease and crop failure further decreased the Rihannsu population to a mere nine thousand, barely enough for a viable gene pool. Land was distributed by lottery, and most of the population debarked, leaving only a few small "Ship Clans" who were reluctant to abandon the far-travel ships completely. However, life on the two worlds was not idyllic: of the 18000 Rihannsu who settled on the two worlds, approximately 6000 died in the first ten years of their settlement. Oddly enough, these 6000 did not die of disease or starvation, but from the ravages of war. Upon settling down on ch'Rihan and ch'Havran, the Rihannsu promptly picked up where things had left off on Vulcan, warring and feuding over planetary resources, as the Rihannsu had brought the violent passion of Old Vulcan with them in their ships.

She listened to him as he spoke of her homeworld and the origins of her people. She smiled and nodded as he spoke. When he finished she looked at him.
Very impressive Lt. I see you have began to research us. Indeed, this is very good I am truly impressed. Your interest involves all cultures or is it more focused. I have always enjoyed studying other cultures.
Especially. the way they treat their children and the senior citizens. Those are the groups who are the most telling on how anyone culture will view the rights to basic care. Do you not agree?
Also I find the myths and legends of a people to be quite telling of the morales of the race. What we believe and what we see as hero's will tell alot.
::she smiles and takes a sip:: Are you enjoying the Kali-fal and Ossoul twist?

He was eating. He seemed to be really liking it. He looked to her and would nod to her"It is very good Riov" He would lean back and would think some.
"As for the cultures if one looks at where I came from we look back. Only back in the dark days of Japan and with the Samurai did we really do any thing with or old and try to help them. Japan of the 20th century was still better then what we where in the us. Why is that most would say. Well Simple, they had more honor and wanted there children to crow up as they did. The Western people or whites in many ways say a few did not think that way at all, or that is how I see it."
Leaning forward he would take yet another bight of his food "When i learned the codes by my master in Hong Cong. He told me before I can hurt I must first learn to heal and help the sick." his eyes seemed to look fair and away as if remembering " I still us what he has show en me to this day. I learned many things that most do not believe in and it works. I also found one way to remain at peace is to sit close to a river. Fell the power that come from it and see in a way to say what it has to say." He would look to her. and then to Yhea.

ereien Hrienteh raised an eyebrow at the LT. he casually introduced himself as Mark Michael. He also called him by his first name,Yhea. He asked to be called Mark when not on duty. His history about his people was much more knowledgeable than he would have expected.erien Hrienteh watched as he ate his ossoul with zest.He listened as Riov Radaik stated Very impressive Lt.
Yhea listened intently as LT. Michael began talking about Earths history. He mentioned a people called Japan perhaps it was more like a clan.He stated how unlike the west they treated the elderly and the young with respect and dignity.Yhea was processing all of LT Michael's history lesson. The west or whites as he referred to them must be a different clan.He also spoke of the Samurai'.To Yhea Lt Micheal thought of them as heroes.LT. Michael then began to talk of his past.He seemed to be brought up in a place called Hong Kong and his teacher he held in great respect.LT. Michael went on to say his teacher,He told me before I can hurt I must first learn to heal and help the sick." While he was telling his story LT. Michael face seemed to brighten as if telling his story lifted his spirits as well.He began to talk of his teacher again saying,I still us what he has show en me to this day. I learned many things that most do not believe in and it works. I also found one way to remain at peace is to sit close to a river. Fell the power that come from it and see in a way to say what it has to say.His eyes turned from Riov Radaik to Hrienteh.erein Hrienteh nodded in appreciation of his history lesson."LT Michael,I thank you for trying too better understand our people, and the history you have given me about your's.This concept of learning to heal before learning to kill is very admirable.I am new too this ship and the Federation. So I am not sure if many believe as you do.However our history runs very deep,as does our values.::Takes a sip of his drink::,I have only a glimpse of your culture.I think I need to do as you have and research more into it.I will say this our people are driven by a ruling passion that is combined with many factors, such as duty, honor courtesy, and many other things.I would be honored if we could sit and you teach me more about your world.''With that erien hrienteh took a bite of his food and waited for LT. Michaels reply.
Post by markmichael on Nov 18, 2005 3:47:54 GMT -5
He would take another sip of there drink. This was very good and would have to get it more often. He would nod to Yhea's words. "But there is a much darker history of my people. During W.W.11 we decided to us a A bomb. it is a nuc to say the least. We dropped two of them on Japan. I believe one was ion Hiroshima. The trouble with Us Hyman's as one we have to out do one and another get power at what ever it takes. Even if it mean back stabbing and or killing another to get it." He would set the drink down and would fold his hands together.
Closing his eyes yet again and he was seeming t be filled with some much. "As for the children and the old. Well in my eyes if you teach the young ones the Honor and the discipline you have gotten from your parents then that same thing will be handed down threw out there history, it is when you let power or other things get into the way of that true sight. Once the greed is there it is hard to get out of the people." He would open his eyes yet again looking slowly to his food and would take a few more bites of it. All he needed was some chop sticks to eat with. he left them in his room.
" I for get where i heired this from but it rings true to any one. With great power come great responsibility. Which mean with all power comes more you have to do. If you shrug off things you need to do then, well you are missing using your power and not being true to your self and the others around you. The Samurai where people just like any other, honor is what they used to serve and emperor. There jobs where to keep him safe and keep the peace among others. But even back then there was still greed." Taking a few more bites of the food he would fold his hands together..
"Your own history starts at Vulcan... The Vulcan of the millennia before the Rihannsu migration was a glorious place. It was a world of proud, ambitious people, challenging even for the bold and downright dangerous for the weak. Early Vulcans were an extremely emotional, violent and warlike people. The planet was divided into hundreds of small clans and city-states, each with diverse governmental structures and religions. The planet is an extremely dry world, with water and resources being rather scarce. Clans and cities fought violently to acquire these resources to insure their survival. During any given period on the planet, it was unlikely that any more than 10% of the planet was not at war, an accomplishment for a race which now prides itself on its logic above all else. "
"Vulcan passion was beautiful and terrifying to behold, with the blood of battle running green over the deserts in the noble wars that raged throughout its history. After thousands of years of vibrant tradition, some grew tired of the ultimate test of battle, going so far as to deny the passion that sparked conflicts even as it demonstrated the mettle and honor of the Vulcan people. Under the guise of logic, a stifling peace began spreading over the planet and needless to say, decadence and liberalism soon followed. The herald of these ill changes was the philosopher Surak, still revered today on Vulcan as a near saint. "
"Around 80 BC in Terran dating, Surak began publically praising the mental practice of logic and the philosophies of peace. As one could expect, in a turbulent world filled with constant wars and violent warriors, his philosophies were slow to spread. However, this fact changed with time, and Surak gradually gathered a small following of devoted followers. These followers were the first true Vulcans as we now know them and among these followers was one named S'Task, keen of mind and heart, and Surak's finest pupil. "

erein Hrienteh listened as LT.Michael talked about his world and the wars they fought.LT. Michael also talked about his clan using a nuclear weapon,"Yhea presumed."He then talked about how humans where greedy and ruthless, doing anything for power. It seemed to Yhea that LT.Michael disliked his own people to say the least. He then began a history lesson about Romulans and Vulcans in further depth. This version of Vulcan and his disdain for his own people caused Yhea too raise his eyebrow.Waiting for LT.Michael to finish Yhea nibbled on his food and sipped his drink. When he was sure LT. Michael was finished he then decided to speak".LT. Michael,I again thank you for learning about our people,::looks at Riov Radaik::It tuely sounds you have done much reading from the Federation archives. And you give a very detailed history of you're own world as well.::stops to take a sip of his drink::I must say this however,if you feel so strongly about humans and their behavior then please listen to me on this matter.Remember how I mentioned duty, honor, passion, and courage as well as other factors in our lives?I speak not for the individual but for my people as a whole. You have a duty to effect change for your people. It may seem small one against so many, but it is the only path those who possess the qualities of which we are speaking of.I cannot change Human nature as you call it anymore than you can change the course of myself or Riov Radaik. You speak of the Samurai as if they are heroes to you.If I am correct, and they are your heroes then you must follow their practices and beliefs. You told me they helped all and upheld honor. It is a large burden to carry I grant you that. But change can only come from within. This burden falls on you and others who feel as you do.I speak not of rebellion.I speak of you LT. Michael, you must practice these values and show those around you that you can be trusted. Then and only then will your voice be heard.Trust me on this, once you are heard others around you cannot but be influenced by your actions.I hope I have over spoken myself Riov or LT."With that erein Hrienteh went back to finishing his snack, listening to what would be said.

::Zandile wanders into Ten forward. She notices the Captain, Yhea, and Mark deep in conversation about something. She decides not to bother them, and goes over to the replicator.::
"Green Tea, hot." ::she tells the computer. A few moments later, a delicate tea cup with steaming hot tea appears. Zandile picks it up and breaths in the aroma of the tea before taking a sip. Not as good as the real thing, but darn close, she decides. Zandile hunts down a specific data padd in the stack she was carrying as she sits in a nearby chair. A few minutes later, she is buried in the scematics and star charts on the padd. Learning is never over, and seemingly useless trivia and facts may come in useful some day.::

Computer, Sketti. ::The computer asked him to restate the request:: Spaghetti please and a glass of Orange Juice. ::He grabbed his plate and looked around for a place to eat. Amazingly, there were people at every table. He had never seen ten foward so busy. He did notice that Zandile Rey was sitting by herself, and she looked to be into something pretty deeply. He didnt really want to disturb her, but looking around, there was simply nowhere else to sit. He walked over to her table, sat his plate down and lightly nudged her on the shoulder.:: Do you mind if I sit here, Zandile.

"Do you mind if I sit here, Zandile?" ::He asked::
"Sure, as long as you don't plan on spilling that food on me." ::she replied, setting her padd down on the stack. Tyler took a seat. She sipped her now cold tea and made a face.::
"My tea is stone cold. I'm gonna get some more." ::She told Tyler. She went over to the replicator and recycled the cup.:: "Computer, Chicken Fettuchini Alfredo and iced tea." ::A few moments later, the food and beverage appeared. Zandile carefully picked up her plate and galss, and went back over to Tyler. She set down her food, and took a seat.:: "So, what's up?" ::she asked::
