Newest ship joins the Fray
By 1st Lt Stephanie Morgan
Well, newest would be an overstatement. The USS Vigilant was submitted to R&D in February 2385. It is a Policing Frigate, built like a cruiser, and flies like a fighter. This ship was the mastermind work of LtCdr Vanessa A Lucifel.
Highly maneuverable, and qualifying as the smallest starship in the fleet, the Vigilant has it’s linage from two classes. The Danube, and the Defiant.
Unlike the Danube, it can attain speeds in excess of Warp 9, and has a larger hull, thus holding up to 40 (standard complement 24). But the price of speed, is distance, giving the Vigilant a maximum cruise radius of 100 light years.
The Vigilant is a fighter though, packing twin Pulse Phaser Cannons, and 5 torpedo launchers in it’s 125 meter hull. The Vigilant will make it’s first appearance this week for the 101st Pathfinders. It’s mission will be dire, but if all goes well, she should be back in one piece, with needed data for future construction of the class.
Interview
By LtCdr Vanessa A Lucifel
This week, I get a treat. I get to interview my husband, Deragon Lucifel.
Deragon is the Fighter pilot Executive Officer on the USS Pegasus. As well as an active simmer throughout the United Forces. He’s also a wonderful husband, and loving father.
Cadet V Yates: When did you join the UF?
Nitse: In the Beginning I followed our Leader from fleet to fleet and stopped here.
Nitse: well Jenina
Cadet V Yates: So you've been simming for quite awhile?
Nitse: About 3 years I hopped fleets for awhile this is the longest I've been in one.
Cadet V Yates: So you have been on the Pegasus since Day one?
Nitse: Yup
Nitse: Helped decide the Class of ship too
Cadet V Yates: How would you sum up Deragon in a sentence?
Nitse: Deragon is the type of person that when you first meet him you think he has the intelligence of a Gnat then after time you realize its true and that he can be funny
Nitse: nahh I'm kidding
Nitse: Just and odd person that loves to fly will do anything to protect his friends, his Daughter and The woman he loves
Cadet V Yates: ::Laughs:: Now that sounds alot like the Deragon I know. Deragon has an interesting past as we would learn as well, a brother that knows nothing of him. How that came about?
Nitse: Well basically I wanted a marine in the 101 then I realized the fun of brothers that looks the same and knows nothing of each other
Cadet V Yates: It is interesting, as of recent he was touting an image of his niece. I guess you two came to a meeting of the minds?
Nitse: yup Deragon met with his brother and assisted the 101st marines by being a shuttle pilot
Cadet V Yates: That’s great, now lets talk about your weakness....mainly me. Would you like to tell us what made Vanessa the love of your life?
Nitse: Well as you know we met in the RR and it was love at first site I cant remember how long it took me to ask you out but I believe I was given a swift kick in the pants to get my nerve up then when you were abducted I realized
Nitse: how much I love you and that’s when I asked you to marry and I vowed to never let anyone harm you
Cadet V Yates: I Love you too sweetie. So, whats in the future for the Lucifels?
Nitse: Cassie that’s all I see raising the most beautiful baby girl in the world
Cadet V Yates: Awwwww. ::Smiles, then goes back to interview:: Ok here are the last two questions.
Cadet V Yates: Favorite Star Trek Series?
Nitse: DS9
Cadet V Yates: Great pick, it's my number 2. Favorite Character?
Nitse: From the show?
Cadet V Yates: Overall
Nitse: Overall favorite would have to be Riker
Cadet V Yates: Hmmmmmmmm, nice pick.
Cadet V Yates: Thank you honey for the interview.
Nitse: Thank you for interviewing me
Cadet V Yates: Just do me a favor?
Nitse: yup?
Cadet V Yates: Next time you see Will Hunter? Tell him his days are numbered ::Sadistic grin::
Nitse: who?
Nitse: OH
Nitse: ok
Alien Corner
Allasomorph
An Allasomorph is an anthropomorphic shapeshifting species capable of altering its molecular structure into that of other species, once thought to be only rumor and is mentioned in the Galactic Zoological Catalogue. Inhabitants of Daled IV, a planet whose rotation period is equal to its year and keeps one face permanently towards its sun. It culture is divided among those who live on the day face and those who live on the night face. They are capable of altering their form.
The U.S.S. Enterprise is assigned to escort a young girl and her guardian from the planet Klavdia III, where they have lived almost all of the girl's life, to Daled IV, the planet she was born to rule.
The sixteen-year-old Salia has a chance encounter with Wesley Crusher, who is instantly and obviously smitten with her, much to the dismay of the girl's overprotective guardian Anya. After a short lesson in love from Guinan and Riker, a nervous Wesley calls on Salia in her quarters, where he introduces her to Thalian chocolate mousse. All the while, Troi is concerned that the emotions she senses from the new passengers don't seem to fit who they are.
Meanwhile, during a tour of sickbay, Anya discovers that there's a contagious patient on board and insists that he be killed immediately. When no action is taken, Anya becomes a raging monster intent on murdering the patient herself. Worf is barely able to fight off the monster before security arrives. Dr. Pulaski suspects that the passengers are allasomorphs, a species rumored to possess the power to change into other life forms. In order not to provoke Anya further, Picard orders Wesley to stay away from Salia.
Disobeying Anya's wishes, Salia sneaks into Wesley's room where she exchanges a passionate kiss with the smitten ensign. When the angry monster suddenly appears, Salia herself transforms into an even more frightening creature, resulting in a tense stand-off between the girl and her guardian. After they change back to their humanoid forms, Wesley is left stunned at the discovery that the girl of his dreams is not who he thinks she is.
Nearing the end of her stay, Salia tries to apologize to Wesley for any pain she may have caused him, but her pleas are met with indifference. Telling Wesley that she loves him, Salia heads toward the transporter room. When Wesley realizes his true feelings, he bursts into the transporter room bearing a bowl of Thalian chocolate mousse just as Salia is about to be beamed down to Daled IV. The two share a last taste and a last embrace before Salia bids Wesley a fond farewell.
Board news
The last count was taken at 2:47 pm, on May 13, 2006. This week’s count was taken at 6:09 pm, May 20, 2006. When doing the counts I leave out the board Sims for a counting of sim placement based on the fact this is how they sim. And would be unfair to the live Sims.
The total number of new postings increased from 8.099 to 8,495. For a total increase of 396 postings of the live Sims and general areas.

Thanks to those who participated in last week's trivia. It appears the runabout questions tend to be a little tricky.
Here's what the question for last week, carrying a Difficulty Level rating of 4.
-----
=/\= Which specific runabouts replaced the following ones that were destroyed? I'm looking for a specific match-up.
1) USS Yangtze Kiang (Destroyed in "Battle Lines") >>> ________________
<ANSWER> -- USS Orinoco
2) USS Ganges (Destroyed in "Armageddon Game") >>> ________________
<ANSWER> -- USS Mekong
I must also apologize for a spelling error in the question. It was actually "Yangtzee Kiang".
