Quol pulled himself up gingerly. Every nerve in his body was on fire. The electrical discharge that hit him must have constricted every muscle and over stimulated every neuron in his body. After several squeaks of pain and absolutely no assistance from the stony-eyed Romulans, Quol was finally standing again.
He retrieved his ssaith and limped over to where the security chief was examining something on the wall. He ran his scanning device over it, and then did it again just to make sure. Fascinating... The natural rock and the bulkhead are not registering as two separate objects. They seem to be fused together at a molecular level.... Astounding...
He ran his hand over the spot. There is no break. Their union seems perfect. The metal of the bulkhead doesn't even twist or bend in the places where it has meshed with the rock... He clicked a few more buttons... Hmm... The molecular variance of the ship's wall seems to have a .00035 harmonic variance faster than that of the rock... This is very fascinating. He said a little breathlessly.

He merely watched as the two romulan women looked over the Ferengi with very little concern for their shipmate. He fought the urge to ask if the Ferengi was alright but then saw his start to stir after a few minutes. He heard him mumble "No moogie, I don't want to go to economics class."
His brow lifted and he mouthed the word moogie? must be something he called his mother, he thought to himself then the Ferengi snapped out of it, asking what hit him
One of the romulan women told him what had hit him and then they resumed their scans as if nothing had happened. He fought another urge to ask shouldn't he see a doctor or something. Instead, he just shook his head, muttering "What a shocking experiance"
He walked over and stood a few feet away from the romulan woman taking scans of the rock and the ship, seemingly fused together. Even he thought this was pretty unnatural. There should be broken rocks and ship parts strewn everyone, but there wasn't. He made his own scans, his brows furrowed a bit "What in the world.." he muttered, then heard the Ferengi Fascinating... The natural rock and the bulkhead are not registering as two separate objects. They seem to be fused together at a molecular level.... Astounding...
He looked over to the Ferengi, he apparently was having the same readings he was getting. He watched as he ran his hand over the rock face where it was fused with the ship "There is no break. Their union seems perfect. The metal of the bulkhead doesn't even twist or bend in the places where it has meshed with the rock..."
Then he tapped a couple keys on his tricorder "Hmm... The molecular variance of the ship's wall seems to have a .0035 harmonic variance faster than that of the rock... This is very fascinating."
His brow lifted again, he gave the Ferengi a "say what?" expression but then shook his head slightly. He turned back toward Inid, who was just seemingly standning there. With a quick jerk of his neck, he told her to come over here, you gotta see this

He was in a room on 3 decks below the bridge "interesting they look phased into the bulk head"
He takes scans of the Borg and the room "If the Borg have this Tech were all in trouble" he taps his com but its not working

She was taking scans with her back to McKenzie. As he spoke she turned her head and looked at him. Then walking over she looked at what he called her attention for. She ran her tricorder and looked at his.
"Thats my reading too."

Inid walked over after she took some of her own readings. She told him that she got the same readings as everyone else. He whispered to Inid "How is that possible? I know I'm not an engineer or whatever but that just seems impossible. Matter this.. different doesnt usaally merge together like this. It's just not natural. Matter doesnt go through matter without pushing something else away" That he knew from basic science

She watched as he stood up. "Your experiencing muscle spasms, they will pass quickly. Other then that your fine. The pain should be gone momentarily."
She also felt the strange sensation of electrical discharge. She shrugged it off as best she could. Then resumed a position where she could watch the Federation Away Team.

She looked at him. "Exactly, so the question becomes what, would have enough force to do that? And if I'm right, at the same time adjust so that it passes though a person without fusing, or causing molecular damage?"
"On Earth there was an experiment in the 1940's referred to as the Philadelphia experiment. In which different, incompatible matter was fused together. I saw pictures where crew men where literally fused into the decks and bulkheads. Are these pictures fact who can say for sure. But the humans have a saying, "Me thinks she does protest too much." Remember this, nothing is impossible. And what we perceive as natural may not be to another."

He nodded as she told him "Exactly, so the question becomes what, would have enough force to do that? And if I'm right, at the same time adjust so that it passes though a person without fusing, or causing molecular damage?"
He tried to come up with something that could do something like that but with his limited knowledge, he couldn't come up with anything
"On Earth there was an experiment in the 1940's referred to as the Philadelphia experiment. In which different, incompatible matter was fused together. He blinked at her then he recognized the movie that she described, but the way she described it, it actually happened "That actually happened?? I saw that as a movie on DVD where they were condicting this experiment with this ship and things go haywire. These two guys jump over board and end up in the 1980's. This guy and woman fall in love but then he has to go back and fix it. He fixes it and ends up stayin' with the woman in the '80's. Good movie.." then he asks her again "That really happened?"

"This experiment has been surrounded in mystery and theories. Some have claimed the pictures were faked and some claiming to give eye witnessed reports were lying. They were attempting to develop a cloak and used enormous amounts of energy. The ship literally had dozens of cables surrounding it. Not sure if that was in the movie"
"However, as various species experimented with transphasic devices such accidents happened or were reported to have occurred. But since these were government or military experiments we would only know what they wanted us to know."
"But looking at what happened here it would seem its a possibility. You really need to do some studying to catch up with our century."

He nods, remembering bits and pieces of the movie "yes, like you said, they were trying to make the ship invisable to enemy radar but they seem to achieve more then that.."
"However, as various species experimented with transphasic devices such accidents happened or were reported to have occurred. But since these were government or military experiments we would only know what they wanted us to know."
He shook his head a little, chuckling kind of ironically "Yeah, that's the government for you. Always telling you what they want to know. Guess that works for every race"
"But looking at what happened here it would seem its a possibility. You really need to do some studying to catch up with our century."
He looked at her "I have been studying ma'am, but studying about 400 years of history, or what is to come for me, is a lot to study is so short a time. I'm just glad I wasn't there when World War III broke out.."

An interphasic cloak was something that Starfleet, The Empire and even the Klingons had experimented with. All three had met with disastrous results and the technology had been abandoned or at least discontinued. Now they had discovered that the Borg too had been working with interphasic technology. Was this a new type of cloak? Had this ship crashed on Delta III in the same way that the USS Pegasus had done when it phased into an asteroid some thirty years ago? This would be seen, by both sides, as an unparalleled opportunity to gain an advantage by having exclusive knowledge of this new technology. Lyretha guessed that they had first received their orders from Galae and following that, Starfleet had also ordered Dhivael here, on the pretext of assisting the Aryes. It was more likely however that they wanted Aryes to keep on eye on Dhivael. Her thoughts were broken into as she heard the Engineer's excited discovery.
Hmm... The molecular variance of the ship's wall seems to have a .00035 harmonic variance faster than that of the rock... This is very fascinating. He said a little breathlessly.
"The ship is moving at a faster rate than the rock surrounding it?" She frowned and redid the scans herself just to be certain. The Ferengi was correct. "What do you speculate is the cause of the variance and is it stable?"

The Ferengi looked up at the security officer. A variance of .00035 would not even be discernible to us. He pressed his hand hard against the bulkhead to demonstrate it's solidness. We are in no immediate danger.
As far as the cause the only theory I could arrive at would come from the small bits of research data I have seen over the years concerning a piece of technology called a molecular phase inverter. Several governments many years ago experimented with the theory of moving objects out of slight harmonic phase with the rest of the universe. That object... in theory... would then be able to pass through any other object still in proper phase with our own universe. Most information on the device was classified so I have never found out much about it, but it could theoretically do something like what we are seeing here.
The harmonic variance I'm detecting may be a sort of residual signature. Much like how metal can retain traceable properties of heat for several hours after any heating source has been removed, that may likely be what we are seeing in this instance... Of course there is also string theory to consider... he said the last bit more to himself than anyone else. Quol rubbed his chin and suddenly became lost in his own thoughts.

A residual signature..the possibility that the systems were still active. Lyretha felt a sudden sense of urgency. They needed to get to engineering. She slipped past the rock, brushing it gave her the same tingling sensation that the orb had. There was a pattern emerging but she was not yet able to put all the pieces in order.
She had set the scans on her tricorder to detect the phasic energies, following a steadily increasing flow. She became so intent on tracking these energies that when her readings spiked, it was like a physical blow. Her head shot up.
"Sanhae..Danger!" She wheeled about, placing her back defensively to the wall, expecting another orb.
Not more than an inch in front of the Federation officer named McKenzie,a figure rose from the deck plating. It did not stop but continued to float upward into a catwalk above them, then disappeared. It was unmistakably a Borg drone, though it seemed not to have seen them at all.

He was waiting for Inid's response when he looked around at one of the romulan women, who was squeezing past the rock face into what looked like engineering
He walked over to where she squeezed through and tried to squeeze through himself but the space was too narrow. He muttered a mild oath, then thought that he needed to lose weight. he shook his head and went back to Inid's side.
Just as he got there, he heard the romulan woman call out a warning "Danger" she said
He whirled around, his phaser, and tricorder, at the ready. Not expecting what was going to happen next next. His eyes bugged out when something, he knew not what, came rising out of the floor. His heart slammed against hs chest and a large dose of fear course through his system. He back peddled, unintentionally, into Inid "Holy Chit..! escaped his mouth and he just watched as the ghost of the mechanized man, at least that what he thought it was. He just watched, mouth agape, as the thing floated up and disappeared
With his heart still hammering against his chest, he turned back to Inid, watching her pick herself up with a not so pleasant look at him "What, the helll, was that??!!" he asked her in an octave higher then his normal voice
Unknowingly, his tricorder got everything

Quol went followed the security chief past the outcropped rock into the next terminal junction, heading out to a long corridor. He turned at the yell of surprise and watched the figure rise up past them. The disturbance on his scanner spiked as it went, burring the interference into an unreadable spectrum. Evan as the entity disappeared the disturbance seemed to grow slightly, as if the ssaith was losing the battle to the interference.
