He listened as Renn spoke of his thoughts and observings of the Engineering department along with the warp core: In short, I was awestruck." He told him "There were things in that engine core that in my mind should not be explored. This technology was adapted from something that I'm positive the Borg themselves didn't completely understand which is why the ship was in the shape it was in. I think that sphere literally tried to tear itself apart from the inside out. My recommendation: Unless you are willing to sacrifice a great many lives to unlock its secrets, I think the sphere should be left for time to ravage. I was raised to be a religious man and have kept one underlying truth from that. There are some things that just were not meant to be tampered with. In my opinion, that cube is one
He looked at Renn with a dead-panned expression "Sounds like something that we Rihannsu could study and perhaps master" He spoke, looking a bit thoughtful. He looked back at Renn "Thank you for your report and personal observations. I will speak to the Riov of the matter and see what her opinion is. You are free to return to your post"
When Renn left, he would call for the Ferengi Engineer

She was at her station when Sahen returned and made his announcement. She looked at him, stood at attention then bowed slightly.
"Since your now second officer I return the oria to you." She returned to her work saying nothing more.

Ambition was a good thing but too much could obscure your reasoning. She liked to think of herself as a seasoned Commander when in fact only a short while ago, she had received the same notification of appointment as Sahen. Terrh was a little brash and perhaps a little too forward for his own good, but responsibility might tame him. At the moment he was very pleased with the power he held. Would it taste as sweet when the headiness wore off? She nodded noncommittally in response as he replicated the insignia and explained his reasoning. Courtesy dictated that he should have made the request first as it was her replicator and not one designated for ordinary ship's use, but it was a small breach and one she could overlook given his elation.
She listened on her personal oira feed as he exited and made his announcement. Interesting that he spoke of his promotion first and his position second. Did he value the one over the other? She watched the other officers for their reactions.

Hann'yyo,(Thank you) Rekkhai. He gives the obligatory salute and takes his leave. The events of the away team left a mix of emotional baggage that made Renn uneasy. He really had felt out of his element on that borg cube. As he returned to his station the thoughts were stronger. He felt a simple mechanic looking at an Iconian device. He was at once mising his former starfleet life and at the same time feeling he had dodged some great danger. Before he realized it his shift was over. He walked off the Oira trying to figure out if he wanted to be by himself or among crew...

The Ferengi put the toolbox down just as the call came in. He indicated his acceptance and moved out of Engineering. Before leaving he turned to the AENG. I need to report to the First Officer, keep up with the repair work while I am gone.
He spoke to Romulan's back, knowing full well that the other wasn't paying attention to him, but it didn't matter. he would do the work because it needed to get done, He just didn't want to be told it by someone like Quol. A small dismissive wave was all his AENG gave him in return. So trying to hold his head as high as he could he walked out of Engineering and took the nearest lift to the khre'Arrain's office. He rang the announcement chime and waited outside, trying not to let his composure break.

He watched as the Ferengi Enginner step through the door into his office. His initial observance of the saehne ( officer ) was that he was a bit timid "Ie, I did" he said with his usual demeanor "I sent for you to aquire your report on what you observed down on the planet with the prototype Borg vessel"
He waited for him to begin

Quol looks at the other and words begin spilling from his mouth almost heedlessly. He himself takes on the far off look as he talks fondly of the technology. As I put in my report to the Security Chief, the engine of the Borg vessel was quite impressive. The first thing I noticed was the energy output... it was on a massive scale. Everyone, including myself, up to the point before we entered into Engineering had just been seeing the interference as an annoyance, but in the end it was a true testament to what this engine was capable of. It is also what began the formulation of my theory and its design and purpose. You see the interference that was disrupting the ssaiths and our communications systems were more than just interference along a similar wave length or spectral vibration length as most jamming or interfering signals are. When you boil right down to it the principle behind jamming transmissions is fairly rudimentary, and simple... Why i once theorized that... Oh... He paused looking at the First Officer's unchanged demeanor.
Anyway the interference being thrown off by the engine wasn't just blocking our readings but distorting them. Ssaith and Tricorders are very sturdy sensor instruments, it takes a lot to make this kind of distortion so I ruled out the usual suspects: radiation, electromagnetic fields, etc... which left me only limited possibilities. Two of which were either temporal and para-dimensional fields. However even with that understanding now in place I was still not fully aware of the true purpose of the Borg's engine until I took a look at the panels that the Aryes Engineer had opened.
Then it struck me. He snaps his fingers for emphasis. This engine was meant to distort dimensional space, but only slightly. The obviously phasic-related death of a Borg we had encountered earlier would seem to confirm my supposition. You see Sub-Commander, the Borg ship was capable of phasing out of alignment with real space, but beyond the standard capabilities of any of the experimental molecular phase inverter technology that I have ever seen. This engine was actually meant to take the ship out of the dimensional string which our universe could exist in. Its more amazingly fascinating than anyone I think really appreciates. The sheer height of technology required to do it is staggering. Though since we have gotten back to the ship I have devised several hypotheses which I feel have some sound quantum mechanic groundings as to how the process might resolve itself within the engine casing. You see if we were take a single molecule of...
He stopped and cleared he throat again, trying not to get off topic. In short the Borg ship was designed to travel in at least 5 Dimensions, but only for a small period of time. If you are familiar with Sting Theory, many quantum theorists actually believe that if one could step out our dimensional "string" that is all anyone or anything might need to move an object to almost any point within the universe after it comes back into phase with the same "string." The only way to explain it is sort of like how, if you break orbit from a planet you can travel to any point on that planet in mere minutes, but how within the constraints of the atmosphere that sort of travel can take hours. If you phase out of alignment enough with the Universes' space time harmonics you are no longer bound by the same laws and can move almost instantly to any point along our Universal grid. Basically that engine has the ability to move a ship from any point in the Universe to any other point in a matter of seconds. I have since dubbed it a Trans-dimensional Harmonic Phasic Engine, or Phasic Engine for sort. He ends speaking and realizes that his throat is dry for some reason.

He observed the Ferengi's demeanor change, almost instantly, from one of nervousness to one of awe? He paused to collect his thoughts, he presumed, nodding a bit, as he had deduced that was the cause of the interference in communications

He heard him pause and clear his throat, he sitting there and listening to the lengthy report. His mind trying to grasp what he was telling him but he was not an Engineer. Some of what he said was lost on him, other things, he comprehended. What he did comprehend, he took notes, personal and professional for the Riov's viewing

When he started explaining the last segment, his mind started working, thinking that would be a great leap forward for Rhiannsu technology. The possibilities were endless. To go from one end of the galaxy to the other in mere seconds
The next thing he knew, silence greeted him and he snapped back to his office and looked at the Ferengi Engineer. He was quite impressed with his thorough report. His respect for the saehne went up a notch or two "I can see you are quite impressed with this new technology and it sounds quite impressive. I am sure the Riov and those in the Senate and the Tal Shiar would be equally as impressed. In your theories, do you conclude that this technology can be incorporated into a Rhiannsu War bird?"
He thought of the possibility that it could. Who knows, Elements willing, he would have the honor to command such a vessel

The Ferengi looked passed the Romulan for a moment as if working something out in his head. It is unfortunate that the Ssaith's sensors could not get an accurate reading of the engine, or that we could not uncover more detailed schematics. There are just too many unanswered questions, he says more to himself than his superior officer. Finally as if realizing where he was he came back into focus on the executive officer. But as I was saying, Sub-Commander, I have several theories as to the inner workings of the engine which I feel have solid theoretical merit. Also I feel that as far as integrating this technology, Romulans have a leg up as opposed to the Hew-mons.
You see the only way for that engine to even begin to work is if it were powered by some sort of forced quantum molecular power source, not at all dissimilar to the quantum singularity drive currently employed by all Romulan ships, however we are talking about a power requirement much above anything a standard QS Drive can currently put out. Comparably, we're talking the difference between the net worth of the Grand Nagus versus the personal savings of... myself....
So in theory there is a definite possibility... I mean the Borg were able to get it working, but that was at the cost of the ship's crew... He looks beyond the other again, though I suppose there must be some way to create an insulating forcefield... perhaps just below the ship's hull... But that in itself would pose quantum string stability problems along the already questionable harmonic divergences... He focuses back on the superior officer. There are many unknown factors involved, Sub-Commander... but according to the 62nd Rule of Acquisition: The riskier the road, the greater the profit.

But as I was saying, Sub-Commander, I have several theories as to the inner workings of the engine which I feel have solid theoretical merit. Also I feel that as far as integrating this technology, Romulans have a leg up as opposed to the Hew-mons." Indeed the humans and their Federation, they would sit and talk about the problems that could arise and how many lives could be lost should something go wrong. The Rhiannsu, more or less, would create it, put it in a ship, if something went wrong, they would determine what went wrong and attempt to fix it
You see the only way for that engine to even begin to work is if it were powered by some sort of forced quantum molecular power source, not at all dissimilar to the quantum singularity drive currently employed by all Romulan ships, however we are talking about a power requirement much above anything a standard QS Drive can currently put out. Comparably, we're talking the difference between the net worth of the Grand Nagus versus the personal savings of... myself....
He nodded again, not knowing much of the Grand Nagus, but to put it in Rhiannsu terms, it would be putting the worth of the Praetor himself against the likes of himself
So in theory there is a definite possibility... I mean the Borg were able to get it working, but that was at the cost of the ship's crew..." He furrowed his brow slightly, trying to understand what the saehne was saying since how spoke in Engineering terms. He then ave a nod "Indeed. The greater the risk, the greater the good, for the Rhiannsu Empire. I would like to theorize that we could attempt to create this method of propulsion and can fit it to an automated and remote controlled vessel, run some tests to find out how this Phasic Engine would react under certain circumstances. If are successful, we could start building a bigger model to install in a vessel with crew" He pondered for a moment "However, I would have to discuss that with the Riov. Do you have a copy of your theories? If so, I can present them to the Riov to ascertain what she thinks on the matter"

I have all my findings and theories here... The Ferengi offers up the PADD he has in his hand to the other officer, but hesitates. I do wonder if you know if the Commander will be sharing this information with Starfleet. I mean I may be currently assigned to the Officer Exchange Program, but I am still a Starfleet Lieutenant. I suppose I do hold certain obligations to them, and after all there is the matter of the Alliance... but I must admit diplomatic and political matters seem to go over my lobes sometimes. If only everything was as simple as quantum gravitational equations... I suppose I am only being curious before I hand over my final findings in the matter.

When the new science officer entered she glanced at him. There was nothing for her to do at moment and taking a second to do that was no problem nor would it create one.
However, she grew irrated at Terrh who would not acknowledge her statement of turning over the oria to him, the new second officer. Or prehaps he felt he was not ready.
