It was a short flight from the base where Sonja was to the scorpion dry dock facility were the Defiant is. She had got her first air wing command of the 15 fighters on the Defiant, it was not a big air group but to be on the Defiant was a great honor. The name of the ship that Captain Blackledge used to take the Empire from the feeble hands of Bashir. As she got closer she sent her security code before they opened fire on her.
Flying by the Defiant one could see it was an impressive ship. She opened a channel to the Defiant. Defiant this is Keptin Kaine requesting permission to land. A man with a deep voice said to transmit her security code, so she did and waited. She thought to her self Please feel free to take your time. A few minutes later the voice said you are cleared to land.
She landed her fighter and shut down the engines. The deck crew taxied her fighter to the maintenance bay. She opened the cockpit as they put a latter for her to climb down. She gave a simple nod to the deck crew and grabbed her small duffel bag and then headed for pilot locker room. She took off her flight suit and took a fast shower.
After her shower she dried off and put on her uniform she put her flight suit in her locker and left the locker room and headed for the bridge to check in with the Captain.

She stood on the flight deck watching as they worked on her fighter and got it ready for her passenger. She wondered why the Doctor wanted to join her, this would be an interesting patrol. She put her good luck charm in one of her pockets in her flight suit.

When he approached Kaine's fighter it stood out like a fire in a snow storm. it had scarring and damage. It was painted camouflage color as if she were to low altitude flights at one time. It had her name and a red 'SWAK' on it. They were still working on it and Evan was sure she flew all the way back to Defiant by herself in this short range fighter. He got plenty of stares as he found a flight suit that fit. He could see the difference in her demeanor once she was on the flight deck. He could also smell the fear of those who's respect she had earned. He wondered briefly who was the CAG in her absence and what fate had befallen him. "I'm ready when you are." He said eagerly

She looked to the Doctor and smiled. You look good in flight suit Doctor. She would not call him by name she would show him respect in front of her men. My crew is almost done they are refiting my ship and setting it up for you to come along. Let me check your suit. She moved her hands around his chest checking to make sure it was set up right.

"You know we'd have a lot more fun doing this in private." He smiled as he talked in a low hushed tone that let her know the effect her touch had on him. "And think I forgot what I told you."

He hiked himself up the steps and into the cramped fighter seats. He found her actions almost adorable. She was acting as a mother taking care of their child. "I think I can manage Major." He sat down and strapped himself in.

Alright things you should know, if anything happens push yellow button it will beam you back to ship or close to it. If you don't beam back to the ship push emergency transponder on your suit. Push red button if transporter does not work you will be ejected from ship. If I am killed or unconscious say Computer autopilot emergence return to hanger. Any questions Doctor?

She grinned. Sorry Doctor that option will be in the next call of fighter. She made sure his G-suit was hooked up. I'm just making sure your G-suit is hooked up if ve engage an enemy most power is diverted to weapons and shields. Also your visor on your helmet will shut and your suit will be switched to it's own life support system. She jumped in her seat and powered up the fighter.
The engines screamed to life the vibration could be felt in side the cockpit. the deck crews guided it to the launch position. She opened a channel to the Defiant launch control. Red one to control permission to launch AP(air patrol) zero four. a voice came over the comm and said clear to launch She put the ship to full power she then gave the signal to launch her fighter from the catapult.
Every take off was a rush for her she was back where she felt free and at home she set the patrol course. Vas it good for you as vell Doctor? She smiled as she set her scanners and check the sensors.

"It was interesting," He smiled. "Good comes later tonight." He braced himself as the ship took off. Though it was something Kaine was used to Evan wasn't used to the sharp thrust. He didn't show it much. "Remember, I am her professionally. This is a stress test so I'll be taking readings during your flight."

She smiled. A test? And I thought you just vanted to be with me. She chuckled. There is not much stress unless ve happen to get into dogfight. She looked ahead on her sensors for any place a possible ambush could take place.

"Who says I didn't?" He said mischievously. He watched her as she shoved the fighter into a tight turn. He knew that she was going to give him the ride of his life, and he was smart enough not to eat before coming. This was more than a simple 'ride along' he wasn't going to show her any of the signs of weakness most pilots relish when they have a 'mundane' in their cockpit. Her body was both relaxed and tense at the same time. The readings were incredible like most pilots.

It had been your normal patrol nothing really unexpected she did a few maneuvers that would give the doctor a little gut check nothing to out of hand. Vell doctor we have reached the half vay point of the patrol. I hope you have enjoyed it doctor, nothing beats flying a fighter in space.
